      Science isn't a 'cause' by an stretch of meaning. It's an umbrella term describing the empirical processes used to derive knowledge- nothing more, nothing less.
      By that same token, when data points toward all mammalian life not being distantly related everybody with a respect for the scientific process will abandon the notion at the drop of a hat and without any trace of resentment whatsoever. Such is the nature of it.
