Agreed. I respect someone who stands up to an oppressive government. I believe in Free Speech. I don't think public property is a place to take on the subjects of divisive issues with a permanent memorial. The same memorial on private property, business property, or property that is not for public use would be fine. No matter what I say, there is going to be arguments from all sides. I have great respect for the Irish and many other people.
