    • Although I do not necessarily agree with your bearing, I do appreciate and admire your agnostic integrity. That said, and with due respect, I concede defeat in the "Columbia" argument, and retract my contention that you are a pseudo... Well done, you are indeed a bona fide intellectual and a gentleman, IMHO.

      Here's to future debates.

      • @Valerie2007 - Thanks for the follow up.

I recentlytalked with people in America visiting from England and Whales and they are very upset with the state of their country and disappointed with the return of the Churchill bust.

I expressed my disappointment with this administration and they warned that America is on the path to becoming more like England, which they regretted.

They told me of their 20% sales tax, the additional tax for health care, and the high cost of living by taxes and the More..

These could be the views of a few, but the bus driver, the cashier at the supermarket, the postman, my neighbour, all the people around me they all couldn't care less about Obama returning a bust loaned by Blair's diplomats to the Bush administration. It's not as if it had been dumped in a landfill. Bush is no longer president, Blair is no longer prime minister, and the crusade against the perpetuators of 9/11 is over. Time to move on.

I was probably deleted and blocked because I said something that he didn't like. That's his way of dealing with someone else's opinion, I guess.

The current situation is not bright anywhere, but the future is also far from being promising. The potential candidates for the next US election are so far all appalling, but last minute miracles are always possible.

      • @Valerie2007 - Right, well, to call it the crusades is simply inacurate. This wasn't a holy war to take back Jurusalem.

In America we have at most a 8.5% sales tax and that varies from county to county and from state to state.

The same people told me that the people work for the Greece government retire in their fifties and receive 75% of their retiring income until the day they die.

Well, Greece is not the best example at the moment, lol! That country alone is threatening to sink the whole European economy... Thankfully we are not part of the eurozone or we would also be bailing them out.

I know well the USA, have been travelling there all my life. My parents were retired in Florida and I used to visit them at least once a year. At that time none should have mentioned taxes to them because they were paying a huge fortune. When my father died the first thing my m More..

      • @Valerie2007 - It's a tough call. And no one objects to paying taxes. But it's the waste and inequality that really angers people, IMHO.

America has a real problem with the way it is dealing with the economy.

As it stands now is that if all income is simply taken by people making more that $500K a year it will still make no real difference in getting rid of our debt.

Now that is scary. One can scream all they want about not being paid enough for work done, but if there is no work what then More..

      • @polux06

I actually like him, but I also have a tendency to like people that are not viable because they are too eccentric.

I think Ron Paul doesn't stand any chance. I think that the next president will be another loud-mouthed mediocre diplomat without any clear line, because those are visibly the only ones that get any chance to be elected. But that said, if the opposition doesn't come with anyone serious enough, you are bound to have another 4 years with Obama, which is visibly a likely ou More..
