      • did i ever say that? wishing is for kids. maybe one day you will realize these wars of choice the u.s. gets involved in only serve a select few. we went to iraq based on lies. no WMDs, no mobile nuclear stations, no alqueda connection. don't give me that saddam was a ruthless dictator shit, because we have armed and will continue to arm people who are much worse since we invaded iraq. we're there to serve very select interests, and not to bring freedom, democracy and peace.

        btw, my po More..

    • Look, I'm not interested in a discussion on global patterns of terrorism, or the role that US foreign policy has played in the rise of Islamic extremism.

I am talking about one person, Osama Bin Laden, and the popular myth that he had a relationship with the CIA, or that al Qaeda was somehow a creation of the US government.

      • the u.s.'s foreign policy created a climate (<sexy?) for the rise of islamic terrorism. to say the u.s. had no part in who usama is, is like saying the americans didn't directly send money to afghan fighters because they sent it to the pakistanies first.

      • Like I said, my original comment was addressing the false claim that the US government "trained Bin Laden". I never denied that the US was actively arming Afghans via the ISI. I never denied that the US fostered Islamic extremism as a means to an end of the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan.

      • LO<, that's not how it works buddy. You're the one parroting conspiracy theories, making the extraordinary claim that the US trained the most infamous terrorist in history, so YOU provide the proof.

But you can't, so you hurl insults. I know I'm right and you know I'm right.

      • you show me where i made the claim usama was a cia operative. all i said is that he was in the area and that he got help from america, through pakistan. he may not of been there go to guy, but the question remains would he have been the usama of 9/11 if we hadn't helped him be usama of the seventies and eighties?

      • The CIA didn't create Osama the terrorist or al Qaeda. OBL was espousing anti-American views as early as '82. All the players say Osama operated independently of the US, with his own money and Saudi money.

"It was always galling to the Americans, and I can understand their point of view, that although they paid the piper they could not call the tune. The CIA supported the mujahideen by spending the taxpayers' money, billions of dollars of it over the years, on buying arms, ammunition, an More..

      • how could i be so stupid. the americans funneling money into the region, through the pakistanis, (it doesn't matter if no american ever trained or met an arab fighter when they send millinons of dollars) couldn't possibly have any negative affects or blowback. what was i thinking? i mean, when has america arming foreign fighters ever backfired?

      • "Blowback" a sexy term made-up by the media.

I see you're still not comprehending what you're reading.

The US didn't arm the fighters who were "foreign" to Afghanistan. They armed the Afghans.

This whole discussion started when someone else repeated the popular myth that the CIA "Trained Osama". I called BS, you seemed to have a problem with that.

But don't tell me that I need to study my history when I've read a whole stack of books on the subject and you More..
