    • Recently I received two phone messages from a person whom I care about a great deal and respect very much. The name of the person was difficult to comprehend but it sounded like "Michelle". Now I don't know anyone named "Michelle" so I took the recorded voice message to the F.B.I. labs in Virginia for analysis. This of course cost me a great deal of time and money but I was determined to find out who had left me these two very nice messages. After breaking down the recording More..

      • @migs1955 That's a nice wine. I love a good sauvignon/merlot wine. I got some 2005 beaujolais that we bought on a french raid that I keep meaning to explore, but I always chicken out and another year goes by. It was meant to be the best year since 1991, which was the reason for the wines & spirits raid. The hype got to me, and off we went clutching our euro's.

I've got into cider for some strange reason; I discovered some really nice tasting Stella Artois Cidre from Belgium (4.5% VOL). So I More..

      • @CargeLock I love any recommendations for any adult beverages. I wonder if that cider is available here in the states? Never seen it here. My father had his own wine cellar and when I was a kid we used to go to Napa and buy barrels of various reds from wineries and bottle them ourselves with our own labels. Just for fun, we never sold it. I developed a huge like for barberas, pinot noir and especially cabernet sauvignons. That cider has me wondering....

lol, orgasmic, you know we're getting too old for that...

        Just hangin around, you know..

Just polished off another pinot myself, we've got some really good brews over here.
Btw, ciders aren't that great imo, novelty stuff.

Winding down now, only 3 weeks you could call summer. It's going to be a long winter, it's cold already.

        And you? plenty to do?

      • @Jake_Sully Yeah, I've tried a few ciders and they were ok, I guess. I prefer a pale ale. Mostly a nice red- any kind, is what I like. We're closing in on spring weather soon. More snow coming this weekend, but me thinks a break is coming. Just hanging out myself. Keeping busy with a little work to fill my time me being early retired and all. Best decision I ever made after a 36 year career. Built a new house so planning the landscaping is another time filler. Life is good. Definitely blessed by More..

      • @migs1955 I wouldn't give your friend much chance of survival in southwest England in referring to cider as "novelty stuff". That "novelty stuff" has been brewed for longer than the USA has been a country. Hardly novelty.

I've just been sent some "novelty" Scrumpy Jack brewed by Symonds Est. 1727 in a huge ceramic demijohn. It's a great slurp for a sunday beef meal, as good as any wine (within reason).

        Burp!!

      • @CargeLock LOL I think that Jake Sully might be referring to the fad in the States around the late 90s where companies started introducing all kinds of cheap ciders here all at once. It was all the rage for about 5 years then died. We had a brand called Hornsby's that advertised a lot. Wasn't great. Most of them weren't very good at all. Most just tasted like apple juice. I think if folks had the real deal as is brewed in your neck of the woods they'd think differently. Most folks just don't kn More..
