I think a good educational tool is to cover the Nationalism of Syria and Palestine (nationalism is a whole class). Talk about King Fayasal from Saudi Arabia and his rule of Syria. Research the Sykes-Picot agreement, and understand the nature of the French and British Mandates of Lebanon and Palestine respectively. Learn about the layers and layers of different types of people in the area.
