F.A.Q

Video / media posting information:

Terms:

By uploading to LiveLeak.com you agree that you have both read, and accepted, our terms of use.

Rejected media:

LiveLeak.com reserves the right to reject media for public viewing at the staff members' discretion. We have set high standards with our staff when it comes to impartiality. If you think you have had media unfairly rejected, we ask that you use the contact form and we will investigate your claim.
Rejected media is not deleted. You can still share the links and have it viewable to the outside world. It merely means that your media was not deemed suitable for the public areas of the site. There are several reasons for this, your post could be a recent repost or material which cannot (or should not) be shown publicly. We reserve the right to reject non-newsworthy graphic media or any media glorifying violence or death.

What does LiveLeak consider graphic media?

The term "graphic" is open to interpretation. The following are examples of what LiveLeak considers graphic media: imagery or video depicting in detail a shocking and/or uncensored view of death and/or violence. For example, the close up images of a Korean hostage’s body are considered graphic, whereas a video of a tank blown up or a bomb exploding are not. Gratuitous violence and/or glorification of violence and death are also considered graphic and will be rejected for public viewing (this includes non-professional fight videos, happy slapping, graphic compilations, etc). **Please see samples below the FAQ

When IS graphic media accepted?

Yes, media on LiveLeak can often be graphic in nature. However, we only accept graphic media that contains sufficient factual background information and/or media that contains news value. In case you might spot graphic items on LiveLeak that have been approved and don't seem to meet the above criteria, please flag the item to be reviewed. **Please see samples below the FAQ

What media is NEVER accepted?

Any media that is illegal in the US will be rejected, deleted, and reported to the appropriate authorities (beastiality, child pornography, etc).
Any graphic media presented in a glorifying manner (ie minimal/no descriptions accompanying graphic material, graphic compilations, etc).

Flooding:

We appreciate that many people have special areas of interest. However we have noticed a tendency from some members to "flood" the public area with media. Staff will reject these videos. In these situations we recommend starting a group for your media and uploading only certain media to the public areas. You are free to publicise your group(s) within the media post. Please work with us to keep the site flowing.

Response videos in YourSay:

We are determined to keep the linear approach to YourSay videos. This method ensures peoples videos get the maximum exposure. If you are making a response video please use the "respond with media" link next to the original videos title. This keeps the YourSay section tidy, allows new subjects more exposure, and prevents the section being bogged down with response videos. From this point staff may remove certain videos and ask you to re-upload them as a response.

Censorship and the editing of titles / descriptions.

On occasion it might be necessary for staff members to alter the title and/or description of a media item. This is not censorship based on our feelings or personal beliefs. We believe members should let the media do the talking- making your point with defamatory and sometimes libelous titling /descriptions can do far more harm than good. Try to be as un-biased as you can with your titles and descriptions, information is not made more powerful by an editorial created to agitate members.

My media was deleted?

On rare occasions we have to delete certain media. This means the media is no longer available to view to the public even with a direct link. Situations which might lead to deletion include, but are not limited to:

Hardcore pornography.
Illegal media (Child pornography e.t.c.)
Media designed to harass or “flame” fellow members
Glorification of death (Gory scenes with no explanation and / or set to music)
Media deemed to be a threat to the website.
Copyright complaints.

Please remember, despite our aim to be as uncensored as possible LiveLeak.com is a privately owned site. As such we reserve the right to remove any media, comments, or material deemed necessary without prior notice.

Commenting Rules and Guidelines.

We are aware that the nature of the site can sometimes lead to heated discussion. However we have to have some rules in place to retain some semblance of order to prevent threads being derailed.

1. Flaming. “Flaming” or directly insulting fellow members will not be tolerated. Your comments will be removed, points deducted, and you could get a warning (Please see below for “warnings”). Generalisation is NOT considered a flame. If someone insults your country this is not an excuse to insult them.
2. Racial Slurs. Racial slurs are forbidden on LiveLeak.com. This is not down to ‘political correctness’ or for fear of offending someone. The use of racial slurs leads to further arguments, places the site under undue scrutiny, and generally smacks of ignorance. We are aware some people have vastly different ideas on race then others, we are not trying to tell you how to think. We are merely asking you voice your opinions within our rules.
3. Private information. The posting of private information is forbidden. Any member found sharing another members personal information on this site (Full name, phone number, address, e.t.c.) runs the risk of being banned.
4. Trolling. Deliberately making post after post with the sole intent of disrupting the site will result in your account, and possibly any future accounts, being banned without warning.
5. Spamming. Advertising (without the prior agreement of Liveleak.com), making the same comments over and over, or the continuous use of “pointless” single character posts and the like will be treated as spam.
6. Profanity filter. The filter is there to prevent anyone NOT wishing to view profanity to have that choice. You can turn the filter off in your settings. Please do not deliberately misspell words to defeat the filter, all you are doing is imposing your will on fellow members and you run the risk of warnings / a ban.

Warnings and banning procedures.

LiveLeak.com works on a “Three strikes and out” system. You will normally receive three separate warnings ( Via private message) before having your account disabled. There are exceptions to this system:

1. Perpetual offenders. If you log on and do nothing but run around “flaming” people continuously.
2. Spamming. Spamming can result in the immediate suspension of your account.
3. Previously banned. If you are a returning member you may not be subjected to the “three strike” system.

Though we dislike having to ban people, memberships on LiveLeak.com are at the discretion of the owners and staff.

The above rules are far from all encompassing, our intention is not to “over police” the site. But please remember, at all times the staff will act in the best interests of LiveLeak.com.
