Random person directs rush hour traffic

21 year old Arthur handles rush hour traffic at the corner of Dufferin and Steels after the traffic lights went out in Toronto, Canada until police arrive. Obviously he's most likely violating some city laws, but the end result is fluid, organized, and safe traffic through one of the busiest intersections in the city with no accident or injury. Good Guy UFC truck provides a reflective jacket for safety as it's driving by. The drivers themselves are of course commendable in their own right for being responsible and cooperative, especially during Friday rush hour.

"cabbie vs passenger who slammed his door too forcefully. Escalating from a small conflict on the sidewalk into a full on personal dodg'ems session on Blvd St-Laurent. One minute I was drawing pictures of stadiums, next minute somebody is fighting for their life.."

Drunken Quebecers decide that, not only are they entitled to the rest of Canada's money, but they're also entitled to do whatever they want, whenever they want, without any consequence.

MONTREAL-Disturbing images are circulating on the Internet, showing a man apparently being run over by a taxi cab in Montreal.

A 23-year-old man was in hospital Sunday with serious but non life-threatening injuries following an overnight confrontation in a downtown district.

Police say a 47-year-old taxi driver and some of his clients are being investigated, and there could be criminal charges.

Const. Yannick Ouimet says it appears the taxi driver was having an argument with three clients and told them to get out of the taxi. One video shot by a man apparently watching the escalating dispute from a second-storey window captures yelling, swearing and several people kicking the taxi. One of the men jumps on the roof.

Moments later the taxi is seen circling back and driving right over one of the men.

The car then speeds away, down the street. Police are aware of several videos circulating online and say they are being used in the investigation.

Montreal police Const. Raphael Bergeron said the 47-year-old cab driver was arrested on an allegation of assault with a weapon. A 42-year-old passenger was also arrested for mischief. Charges have not yet been laid.

OPP EXPLOSIVE DISPOSAL UNIT IN PORT STANLEY FOR SUSPICIOUS ITEM
Ontario Provincial Police

Item Suspected to be a Geocache

(Elgin County) - As a result of the police investigation the suspicious item is believed to have been a geocache. Geocaching is an outdoor activity in which the participants use a GPS or mobile device to hide and seek containers, called "geocaches" or "caches". The geocaches are hidden by participants around the world.
A typical cache is a small waterproof container containing a logbook where the geocacher enters the date they found it and signs it. Larger containers such as plastic storage containers can also contain items for trading, usually toys or trinkets of little value.

As the item was destroyed by the OPP Explosive Disposal Unit it impossible to say what was in the container, however we do believe the item was a geocache. Several people have provided us with information and a description of the geocache which matches the location and description of the suspicious item.

It appears that the cache was originally hanging in the tree by a wire loop which possibly broke and fell to the ground therefore giving the item the appearance that there were two wires coming out of it. As a precautionary measure the OPP EDU felt the item was suspicious enough in nature to warrant their actions.

Taken from a Durham Regional Police officer's perspective, this video follows the last journey from Trenton to Toronto in Canada on Highway 401, also known as the Highway of Heroes. When a fallen soldier returns home from Afghanistan, Canadians line bridge after bridge along the 100km (62 miles) journey from Trenton to Toronto in a show of compassion for the soldiers who give their lives overseas and the families who have lost their loved ones in combat.

The number of Canadian Forces' fatalities resulting from Canadian military activities in Afghanistan is the largest for any single Canadian military mission since the Korean War between 1950 and 1953. A total of 158 Canadian Forces soldiers have been killed in the war since 2002.

In every soldiers return, Canadians come out to show their appreciation and solidarity to the families and those who have fallen as the large convoy makes the final journey.

Let's hope we never have to line those bridges again.

Pro-Assad supports in the crowd at a demonstration against the Assad regime began to attack young activists calling for his resignation as they were attempting to leave. Earlier, the supporters lit clothes and items on fire in the middle of crowded areas and began waving them around, along with chanting racist and demeaning comments towards Western countries.

Pro-assad supporters think that even outside of Syria the voice of democracy and freedom can be silenced.

St. Patty's Day Riots - CTV News van explodes

Explosion at 0:53

The east end of London, Ontario became a war zone Saturday night as hundreds of drunken rioters in the Fanshawe College area of the city attacked police and burned vehicles.

More than 50 officers in full riot gear surrounded by an alcohol-fuelled mob on St. Patrick's Day held a one-block sector of Fleming Drive for more than an hour before being repelled by a downpour of broken glass from thrown bottle, rocks and even wooden planks torn off of fences.

A CTV news truck parked in the middle of the violence was overturned and set on fire. Flames shot 20 feet into the air interspersed by violent explosions, one of which illuminated more than a block of houses in bright orange and sent many in the crowd screaming for shelter.

Disgust and extreme disapproval were running high in London, Ont., Sunday after an intoxicated crowd of St. Patrick's Day revellers spent the previous night fuelling a huge street fire and attacking authorities who tried to intervene.

While no one was seriously injured as a mob of some 1,000 people took over a residential area popular with students, police said every officer responding to the situation was attacked during an upheaval that could have turned into something far worse.

Eleven people have been arrested so far and police expect to bring in many more as they go through video and witness statements from Saturday night.

After the Toronto G20 riots of 2010, approval ratings for municipal police forces in Ontario have dropped drastically among younger Canadians to a point of near resentment. Most municipal forces have altered there tactics to allow for longer and more demonstrations when they arise, but the image of police in Canada among this generation is widely viewed as abusive and demeaning.

It's been 200 years since the War of 1812, and although the US and Canada will be commemorating the bicentennial in different ways, it's important to take a look at what has become of a once-hostile relationship. This video explains better than most, not only the importance of our shared values of freedom and humanity, but the importance of cooperation and friendship. There are no two countries closer than the United States and Canada.
