Scouts will not proudly hold their St George's Day parade through Luton town centre today because they cannot afford the lb2,000 admin costs -- two weeks before taxpayers foot the lb1 million-plus bill for a massive EDL march. Charity Luton Scouts -- whose patron saint is St George -- cancelled their annual event, which first took place 78 years ago, after realising the bill for road closures and policing would be too high.
