      <title>Officers fired 50,000 volts at man doused in petrol and guess wha happened</title>

      <description>A man who had doused himself in petrol turned into a human fireball when police shot him with a Taser.

Andrew Pimlott, 32, suffered horrific injuries in the confrontation outside
his house and died in a hospital burns unit five days later.The
 50,000-volt volley was fired after he threatened to kill himself while
holding a canister of fuel in one hand and a naked flame in the other.
Jack
 Fry, who saw the incident, said: 'There were three screams. Then we saw
 a man, fully on fire, from top to bottom, like you see on a film, with
his arms swaying around.'We saw two police officers appear from the side of the house. One of them jumped on the burning man and put him on the floor.

'The officers were shouting to each other and the one who had put him to the
 ground got an old duvet or cover and started smacking the man with it.'The
 incident - the latest to raise serious questions about the increasing
use of Taser weapons - is being investigated by the Independent Police
Complaints Commission.Sophie
 Khan, a lawyer who specialises in representing Taser victims, said the
death was deeply saddening. 'Police Taser policy clearly states that
using one where there is flammable liquid is prohibited,' she added.
We do not know the facts but it is
possible this tragedy could have been avoided if the officers had
followed standard procedure.'It is another incident which
highlights potentially inappropriate use of Taser which is growing as a
weapon of choice among British police forces.'
Officers have been warned not to use Taser weapons on people who have been sprayed with CS gas, because some brands catch fire.

The confrontation took place outside Mr Pimlott's home in the Plymouth suburb of Honicknowle on April 18.

Responding to an emergency call about a domestic incident, two officers found Mr
Pimlott in the back garden with the canister. He had poured some fuel
over his body.

Within moments of the Taser being
fired he burst into flames, suffering serious injuries, including the
loss of an ear. He was taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth and
transferred to a specialist unit at the Frenchay Hospital in Bristol
where he died four days ago. It is not known whether the two officers
involved remain on duty.Mr
 Fry, a 20-year-old shop worker, said the pair were 'heroes' for jumping
 on Mr Pimlott with blankets in a bid to put out the flames.'There
 was steam coming off him and he was groaning. The sight was sickening,'
 he added. 'The officers then got a hosepipe and poured on water. We
heard more sirens and as the paramedics and fire crews arrived I went
back inside. I want to say how amazing the officer was. I think this
officer is, well, I would use the word hero.'Another neighbour said: 'I thought a bomb had gone off. It was a sound like a shot or a bomb. Then I heard a howling noise.'

Mr Pimlott, who lived with his parents, Kelvin, 61, and Jean, 63, was
known to police after being jailed last December for attacking an
officer. The incident followed Mr Pimlott's father calling police
because his son was drunk and aggressive.Mr Pimlott, who was jailed for eight weeks, referred to himself as being 'like Jekyll and Hyde' when drunk.

Devon and Cornwall is one of the
country's most controversial Taser forces. It used the stun gun 65 times
in 2011 compared with 34 times in 2010.Last year it paid out up to lb5,000 in compensation to a man who was Tasered at close range in a packed Plymouth pub.

In a statement last night, Mr Pimlott's parents said: 'Dear darling son
Andrew, you were a fantastic son to us, you will always be in our hearts
and thoughts. We will never forget you.'

      <title>'We'd love cheaper prices': Apple defends high costs </title>

						 Tech giants front hearing on prices

						 Adobe and Apple defend slugging consumers

						 Apple: 'We'd love cheaper prices'

 SOFTWARE giant Microsoft has
admitted it slugs Australian customers significantly more for its
products in a federal committee today and said if customers didn't like
it they would &quot;vote with their wallets&quot;.

		Microsoft became the latest international technology company to
face the House of Representatives committee into information technology
prices this afternoon, following evidence from Adobe and Apple.Microsoft
 Australia managing director Pip Marlow said the company did not create
one price for all global customers and instead set a different, higher
price for its Australian users.&quot;Is there a price differential for our customers? Clearly yes,&quot; Ms Marlow said.

&quot;We
 don't set a global price for our products. We do not operate on a
standard price because we do not believe that every market is the same.&quot;Ms
 Marlow said Australian prices were determined based on competition in
the market, and said customers who did not approve of their software
prices would buy software elsewhere.

	&quot;Our customers will vote with their wallets,&quot; she said.

Ms
Marlow refused to comment directly on claims by Member for Chifley Ed
Husic that a Microsoft software suite that cost $2324 in the US and
Singapore cost $4136 in Australia. Earlier today technology behemoths Adobe and Apple defended slugging Australians with high prices.

Adobe
 defended charging Australians more than $1000 extra for its publishing
software by claiming that Australians were receiving a &quot;personalised&quot;
service on its local website. Addressing the House of
Representatives committee on information technology pricing today, Adobe
 Australia and New Zealand managing director Paul Robson was questioned
about why the company charged Australians 167 per cent more -- $3175
versus $US1899 -- for its Creative Suite 6 software.Mr Robson
said consumers in this country were automatically redirected to the
company's Australian website so they could access local discounts and
community groups, and purchase Adobe's software at local rates.Mr
 Robson said Adobe's use of Australian-only pricing or &quot;geoblocking&quot; was
 a &quot;well established and legal process&quot; yet he failed to explain why
Australians were paying significantly more for the same product.&quot;We're
 acutely aware that we can only succeed if we deliver innovation,&quot; he
said. &quot;If our customers believe they can get better value elsewhere,
they simply won't do business with us.&quot;Mr Robson said the company
 had last month lowered the price of access to its Creative Cloud
software service to Australia to deliver fairer prices.Technology
 giant Apple defended slugging Australians more for music, movies and
TV shows, blaming the content owners for charging a higher &quot;wholesale
price&quot; for media delivered to Australian eyes and ears.Apple
Australia vice-president Tony King told the committee that the company
would &quot;love to see lower content prices&quot; in Australia but music label
deals and copyright issues prevented it from offering lower prices or
opening its US iTunes Store to a global market.Mr King said
record labels and TV and movie rights owners were responsible for
setting different digital content prices in different markets and they
should be the companies called before the federal committee.&quot;We
would love to see cheaper, lower prices in the Australian market,&quot; Mr
King said. &quot;The difference in a price will stem from the different in a
 wholesale price from the owner of the rights.&quot;Mr King said Apple
  was not responsible for setting these geographically different prices
 and, despite them, prices in the Australian iTunes Store were &quot;similar&quot;
  to prices charged in Australian retail stores.In response to a
 question by Member for Chifley Ed Husic, Mr King said Apple could not
legally open its US iTunes Store to Australian customers.&quot;When
(an individual piece of content) is licenced to iTunes, a condition of
that negotiation is that we make it available only for specified
markets,&quot; he said. &quot;Most rights are still today on a territory by
territory, market by market basis. There are few rights that are truly
global and that creates confusion for customers.&quot;Mr King said
Apple had taken great lengths to ensure its own hardware products were
priced at &quot;parity&quot; in Australia, taking into considerations the
Australian GST and costs associated with delivering products in
Australia.Earlier, consumer group Choice told news.com.au it has five big questions for the tech companies.

 1. Why is it costing Australians 70 per cent more to rock out to AC/DC's Back in Black on iTunes?

 2.
 Why does it cost a graphic designer in Adelaide $3175 to buy Adobe CS6
Design and Web Premium when a creative in Los Angeles only has to pay
$US1899? 3 . Why does it cost a small business in
Sydney $599 to buy Microsoft's Office Professional 2013 when a business
in San Francisco only has to pay $US399.99? 4. How many of their staff in Australia work on developing software?

 5. Who sets the pricing on iTunes - Apple or the music and film industry?

Matt
 Levey, head of campaigns at Choice said there is &quot;no justification&quot; for
 why Australians are paying more than US consumers for identical
products.&quot;We have heard all sorts of excuses from the tech
companies, like claims that Australian wages, rent and taxes are too
high and that our warranties are onerous,&quot; he said.&quot;Our research shows that none of the excuses stack up and the only conclusion is that the technology companies are greedy.&quot;

&quot;Today, Adobe, Apple and Microsoft have every opportunity to come clean on their dirty deeds,&quot; says Mr Levey.

News.com.au is covering the hearings throughout the day.

An Australian hacker has found himself at the centre of an
international corporate espionage investigation after leaking details of
 Microsoft's new Xbox and listing a prototype on eBay as a joke.

        Perth man SuperDaE goes by many names and online aliases,
most commonly Dan Henry, but for &quot;safety reasons&quot; he prefers to be
called only &quot;Dylan&quot; and describes himself as a freelance security
analyst.

        Dylan would not say how he obtained the sensitive internal Microsoft information, or how he got his hands on a Durango
 (the code name for Microsoft's next-generation Xbox console)
development kit, questions now at the centre of a joint investigation,
which saw one of his Perth residences raided for five hours on Tuesday.West Australian Police confirmed the raid, but would not say whether, as Dylan claims, an officer from the FBI was present.

        &quot;Technology Crime Investigation unit is currently conducting a
 multi-jurisdictional investigation into computer related offences,&quot; WA
Police sergeant Gerry Cassidy said. &quot;A search warrant was conducted
Tuesday 19 February in relation to this investigation where items were
seized.&quot;

        Dylan, whose computers, phones and banking cards were seized
on Tuesday, said he had &quot;no idea what's happening,&quot; when he spoke to
Fairfax Media on Friday.

        &quot;I'm eating one meal a day,&quot; he said. &quot;There's no real way to get by, how do I pick things up from nothing?&quot;

        But he concedes the backlash did not come as a shock after a
friend of his was raided in New Jersey two months ago in relation to the
 same investigation.

        &quot;They just took all my computers my hard drives, all of my
technology, they took my bank cards, credit cards, bank statements,&quot; he
said.

        &quot;They cleaned me out pretty much.&quot;

        Why did he do it? &quot;Out of curiosity,&quot; he said.  &quot;I like to explore things in my free time and I've got a lot of free time.&quot;

        After Dylan first leaked information about the Xbox on Twitter he said he was visited by a Microsoft employee who wanted the Durango back.

        &quot;It didn't seem like they were going to actually pursue it this way,&quot; he said.

        &quot;It seemed very much that they just wanted to know where their things were.&quot;

        But at 7.10 on Tuesday morning there was a knock at the door.

        &quot;They had a ram in their hands and a warrant held up to me,&quot; Dylan said. &quot;And they left with all my stuff.&quot;

        Dylan, who is relying on friends and family while he awaits
the outcome of the investigation, said he fears the FBI are going to
attempt an extradition to the US.

        &quot;It's really just a waiting game as to if they'll press
charges,&quot; he said. &quot;There's really nothing I can do at this stage,&quot; he
said.

        Does he regret the events that led to his current predicament?

        &quot;If I could change anything yes, but do I regret it? It happened,&quot; he said. &quot;I can't really look back on that.&quot;

        Meanwhile, the location of the Durango would remain a guarded secret. &quot;No one's going to know where it is,&quot; Dylan said.

WE MAY not know what the PS4 looks
like or how much it costs but that hasn't stopped games retailers from
taking a punt on the price.

		EB Games has made the PlayStation 4 available for pre-order for $900 Kotaku reported.

To call $900 &quot;steep&quot; would be an understatement, especially because we don't know the basic details about the console.

 All flash no console

After a two hour &quot;launch&quot;, Sony has failed to actually reveal what the PlayStation 4 looks like, or when it will launch.

	The livestream is over and we're none the wiser about what the new
PlayStation 4 looks like, when it will become available for sale and how
 much it will cost.

Sony only vaguely mentioned that the PS4
would be &quot;coming for 2013 holidays&quot; but it wouldn't be more specific
than that. There's also no word on when it will be released for the
Australian market. Sony's PS4 launch 'like a wedding without a bride'

Gamers are, naturally, outraged. Two hours of shop talk and no finished product? That's pretty poor.

 Naturally, users flocked to Twitter to express their outrage.

Twitter user @mthspatriot11 tweeted: &quot;Sony just revealed the worlds first invisible console. PS4....meh.&quot;

User @SAI wrote:
 &quot;After more than two hours, Sony's PlayStation 4 event is over. They
didn't even show us what the console looks like. http://read.bi/Wb1SBL.&quot;Another user, @tokulski wrote that maybe the PS4 isn't a console. &quot;Maybe it's a feeling in your heart,&quot; he wrote.
He added: &quot;PS4, designed by Monty Python.&quot;

Twitter user @BakedBoons said there were &quot;Several kinds of bull***t going on&quot;.

&quot;You know what I'd really like to have seen? More vagueness. There wasn't enough of that,&quot; he tweeted.

Nail. On. Head.

      <title>United Arab Emirates pays millions for rebuilding of Missouri town hit by tornado as oil rich state pays back US for its foreign aid to rest of the wo</title>

      <description>
After a devastating tornado wreaked
havoc on much of Joplin, Missouri in May of 2011 the town found a
financial savior in an unlikely source: the United Arab Emirates.
The
 tornado, which killed 161 people and destroyed six public schools, had
left the community in an almost hopeless situation until the UAE reached
 out through their embassy in Washington.
It's
 not the first time the UAE has reached out to the United States for
charity, as the nation has embarked upon a campaign to provide
assistance to the most dire of areas in the country according to The Washington Post.
In Joplin, with insurance covering
the re-construction of buildings, the largest thing the school system
was a new order of textbooks.
It was considered unaffordable even on the statewide level of Missouri.

In
 lieu of the textbooks, the UAE made it possible for each student in
Joplin, about 2,200 high schoolers, to have a MacBook laptop.
The
 nation has also put forth $5 million to rebuild a neonatal
intensive-care unit in the town's hospital, which was also destroyed in
the tornado.
Though the United States still
provides the largest amount of aid to foreign countries, it has seen
other nations absorbing many of these projects - including the UAE. Commenting about the increased aid,
Yousef al Otaiba, the UAE ambassador to the United States said, 'We spot
needs and we try to help.' The donation to Joplin is certainly not the first for the oil-rich country.

In 2005, both the UAE and Qatar
contributed $100 million towards relief efforts after Hurricane Katrina
devastated the Gulf community.
Both New York and New Jersey have
also been assured of receiving $5 million for each state following
Hurricane Sandy last October. Outside of natural disasters, the UAE
has also fronted the construction of 'all weather artificial turf
soccer fields' in the poorer areas of New York, Los Angeles, Miami and
Chicago. They would like to commission three more but have not
determined location.

Much of the charity involvement of
the UAE stems from a controversy in 2006 when Dubai tried to make a deal
with the United States government to assume management of six ports.
Most members of Congress were intensely opposed and the UAE image seemed to suffer in the United States.

As
 an ambassador, Otaiba has sought to rectify this image by traveling
around the country and explaining the nation's similarities with the
United States when it comes to preventing terrorism.

In 2009 Otaiba played an
instrumental role in coordinating a $150 million contribution from Abu
Dhabi to the Children's National Medical Center in Washington D.C.
Similar contributions to hospitals have also included Johns Hopkins in Maryland and the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio.

Other
 gifts from the UAE have ranged from the New York Police Foundation to a
 food bank in Baltimore and a program in Washington D.C. helping high
schoolers acquire enough money for college.

'Claim jobseeker's allowance and plan holy war': Hate preacher
pocketing lb25,000 a year in benefits calls on fanatics to live off the
state Anjem Choudary called benefits 'Jihadseeker's allowance' The extremist told followers they must hate democracy and freedom Also listed bizarre sharia laws, including 'not riding cats and sheep'

 UPDATED:

13:21 GMT, 17 February 2013

Anjem Choudary has been recorded telling followers to claim benefits as part of their struggle to bring sharia law to the UK

A controversial Muslim cleric who
lives off benefits is urging his followers to also sponge off UK
taxpayers by claiming their 'Jihadseeker's allowance'.Anjem
 Choudary, who in the past has planned to disrupt the minute's silence
on Remembrance Sunday, also openly mocked hard-working Britons, calling
them 'slaves'.
The Sun newspaper
 secretly filmed him saying Islam will overrun Europe, David Cameron and
 Barack Obama should be killed and calling the Queen 'ugly'.
The father-of-four takes home more than lb25,000 a year in benefits and lives in a lb320,000 house in Leytonstone, East London.

He told a crowd of around 30 fanatics: 'People will say, 'Ah, but you are not working'. But the normal situation is for you to take money from the kuffar (non-Muslim).

'So we take Jihadseeker's Allowance. You need to get support.'

In another video a grinning Choudary is recorded telling his disciples that it is justifiable to take money from non-believers.

He said: 'The normal situation is to take money from the kuffar. You work, give us the money, Allahu Akhbar (God is great).

'Hopefully there's no one from the DSS listening to this.'

He
 also called Mr Cameron, Mr Obama and the leaders of Pakistan and Egypt
the 'shaitan', or devil, and said he wanted them to be killed.
Choudary
 spoke glowingly of the 9/11 attacks and urged his followers to have
'hate' in their hearts for core British concepts like democracy, freedom
 and freedom of religion.

The 45-year-old former lawyer
added: 'We are going to take England - the Muslims are coming. Brussels
is 30 per cent, 40 per cent Muslim and Amsterdam. Bradford is 17 per cent Muslim.

      <title>Japan 'kills whale in Australian waters' </title>

      <description>

THE federal government says whaling by Japan is illegal wherever it happens, after a large whale was harpooned in Australian waters.

Anti-whaling activists at Sea Shepherd said Japanese whalers killed a large minke whale on Friday in Australian waters off Antarctica near the Davis Research Base.

 The group has posted photos and video of the incident online.

Sea Shepherd founder Paul Watson said when the protesters tried to block the transfer of the harpooned whale's carcass from one vessel to another, the irate whalers tried to ram their boat. Environment Minister Tony Burke said the focus should not be on which part of the ocean this happened.

&quot;It doesn't matter what part of the ocean it is in, Australia's view is that it is just as illegal,&quot; Mr Burke told reporters.

 &quot;That's why we have taken Japan to the International Court of Justice. &quot;I think it would be a terrible situation if we started to go down the path of arguing that in one part of the ocean we thought whaling was okay and in others it wasn't.&quot; Coalition environment spokesman Greg Hunt said the best way to deter whalers and minimise the risk of dangerous confrontations would be to have a customs vessel patrolling known or likely trouble spots. &quot;The sensible action here is to have a cop on the beat,&quot; he said.

 &quot;The mere fact of an Australian-flagged vessel says to the whalers that we are watching, and says to the protesters: you've got to abide by international maritime law. &quot;Anything less is just negligent.&quot;

 But Mr Burke said the opposition's proposal would make the situation even worse.

 &quot;Could you imagine what a boost to Japanese whaling it would be if there was an Australian vessel just watching on and nodding,&quot; Mr Burke said. &quot;It's much better that we have taken the legal action that we have taken, that we are in the International Court of Justice, that we are getting closer and closer to decision day there.&quot;

      <title>Rhode Islanders repeatedly call cops over 12-foot snow penis</title>

      <description>http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/02/15/rhode-islanders-repeatedly-call-cops-over-12-foot-snow-penis/

 UPDATE (5:35 pm) : The Huffington Post
 reported that the snow penis was demolished just two hours after it
posted the original story. &quot;It's just a big pair of balls now,&quot; Raylene
Worthington, the mother of the 16-year-old responsible for the
sculpture, told HuffPo.
The townsfolk in South Kingstown, Rhode Island were none too happy
this week to discover that one of their neighbors built a 12-foot tall
sculpture of a penis out of snow, in clear view of a neighborhood road.
 Police told  The Providence Journal
 that they responded to calls about the phallic creation four different
times in two days, but did nothing because it was on private property.
Of
 course, it didn't have to be 12-feet tall. But when the mother of the
teenage boys who built the thing saw how people were reacting, she felt
like driving the point home a little.
&quot;They're teenage boys - there's worse things they could be doing,&quot; she told a Huffington Post reporter .
 &quot;It was innocent. And to be honest, knowing that it pissed people off
gave us a little charge. If you have nothing else to do in your day
other than complain about a snow penis, we'll make it 12 feet tall.&quot;
The Journal did not run a photograph of the sculpture, so its creators decided to give it a Facebook page of its very own shortly before leveling the frozen dong on Friday .

&quot;The sculpture is officially down,&quot; a post to the page explained.
&quot;Enough excitement for 2 days. What started as an innocent joke was
taken out of proportion by people with nothing else to do but complain.
Life is short...keep smiling....and have Fun!&quot;

      <description>my comment :no criminal charges?? lmao

With 14 bank accounts, the cash kept rolling in for Ian Macdonald
DISGRACED former minister Ian
Macdonald received $450,000 to keep him &quot;rolling along&quot; until a
million-dollar windfall from a coal deal came through, the corruption
watchdog heard yesterday.&quot;

		He also received a $100,000 loan on top of the monthly payments
from his business partner John Gerathy, who &quot;bankrolled&quot; the former
resources minister after he quit parliament. &quot;He was certainly
keeping me financially afloat, yes,&quot; Mr Macdonald told ICAC yesterday
as he marked a tense third day in the witness box. As a retired minister, Mr Macdonald has been entitled to a parliamentary pension of more than $100,000 a year.

 But yesterday claims emerged that the man nicknamed Sir Lunch-A-Lot had fallen on hard times.

 Questioned about $30,000 received from his former best friend Greg Jones, Mr
Macdonald put it down to &quot;wedding and birthday presents&quot;.

				The financial details have emerged as ICAC digs deeper into
allegations of a &quot;criminal conspiracy&quot;, that Mr Macdonald is &quot;a crook&quot;
and that he rigged a tender process for coal mining exploration licences
  to benefit his former Labor colleague Eddie Obeid, whose family owned
 land around Mt Penny, where a critical coal tenement was created. ICAC
 alleges Mr Macdonald was due to receive a cut of the $486 million sale
 of Cascade Coal to White Energy - which eventually collapsed after
suspicion surfaced about the Obeids' involvement in the mining venture. Yesterday
 counsel assisting Geoffrey Watson SC grilled Mr Macdonald about why he
 had 14 bank accounts - to which he replied he wasn't sure which ones
were active. The payments from Mr Gerathy, which started in
September 2010 and continued until last July, ranged from
$15,000-$25,000 a month. ICAC heard there are no statements
describing a loan repayment plan - and that a document from Mr Gerathy
last year issuing a caveat over Mr Macdonald's $1.2 million Northbridge
 home was created only days after ICAC investigators ordered the
solicitor to produce records of his financial dealings with the former
MP. &quot;The truth is you were going to get a cut out of your
dealings with the Obeids weren't you and the only thing that's
frustrated that occurring has been the intervention of ICAC, hasn't
it?&quot; Mr Watson asked. &quot;No, that's not right,&quot; Mr Macdonald said.

 &quot;And at the time (of the White Energy deal) you'd be able to pay Gerathy
back his money and you'd be rolling in clover,&quot; Mr Watson said. Mr Macdonald denied this.

 In evidence to a closed inquiry, made public yesterday, Mr Gerathy said
Mr Jones had told him he would help Macdonald financially in March
2011. &quot;If this (Cascade sale) really comes off I will give Ian a hand,&quot;
 Mr Jones is alleged to have told Mr Gerathy. Mr Watson alleged the &quot;hand&quot; Jones was referring to was to give Macdonald cash.

 Mr Macdonald said Jones was merely referring to finding him a job

      <description>

INVESTIGATIONS have begun into
revelations that Australian officials were told of the jailing of
Victorian man Ben Zygier in the months before he died in his Israeli
prison cell, but failed to pass the information on.

				Foreign Minister Bob Carr yesterday ordered an inquiry into the
consular handling of the case after it emerged that his department
learnt of Zygier's jailing from another Australian agency, believed to
be ASIO, in 2010.At the time, Zygier was known to the world only
as &quot;Prisoner X&quot; after the Israeli government banned local media outlets
from reporting the case due to what was believed to be a national
security incident.Zygier died in December 2010 in a claimed
suicide, but questions have been raised given the secrecy of his jailing
 and his isolated cell purportedly being suicide-proof.Senator
Carr was originally advised by his department that it was only aware of
Zygier after his death by family seeking help to bring his body home to
Melbourne.

				But as revealed by news.com.au yesterday, DFAT officers had not passed the information on through the appropriate channels.

Senator Carr's office said it may seek more information from the Israeli
government as part of the inquiry by DFAT secretary Peter Varghese.&quot;DFAT
 had originally advised us that it was unaware,&quot; a spokeswoman said.
&quot;DFAT has now advised that some officers of the department were made
aware of Mr Allen's detention at the time in 2010 by another Australian
agency.&quot;The government would not say if it knew then he was the &quot;Prisoner X&quot; being reported at the time or simply just an Australian.

Zygier was a member of a prominent Jewish family in Melbourne, where his
father Geoffrey is the executive director of the Victoria Jewish
Community Council. His uncle Willy is the partner of singer Deborah
Conway.&quot;It's still just too painful for us to speak about at the moment,&quot; Geoffrey said from his home in Malvern.

&quot;We understand the interest, but we've decided not to talk to anyone, not at the moment. I'm sorry.&quot;

His son, whose other names included Ben Alon in Israel and Ben Allen on his
 Australian passport, was buried in Melbourne's Jewish Chevra Kadisha
cemetery in Springvale aged 34.Shadow foreign minister Julie
Bishop called for a full explanation on the &quot;apparent breakdown&quot; within
DFAT and whether the Israeli government notified DFAT that an
Australian-born man had been imprisoned.She said she had raised
concerns with Israeli Ambassador in Canberra Yuval Rotem, who had
promised to pass them on to his government. He was not commenting
yesterday.But the Israeli government continued its gagging of the
 case, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office yesterday
summoning Israeli newspaper editors to ask them not to publish a story
&quot;that is very embarrassing to a certain government agency&quot;, Israel's
Haaretz newspaper said before censoring its own stories.One of the Zygier family's neighbours said Ben was fluent in Hebrew and dux of Bialik College.

&quot;I would talk to him in Hebrew as he was fluent in the language,&quot; she said.

&quot;He was a very helpful guy, always happy and smiling. He was the dux of his
 college, went to Monash University to study law and became a successful
 lawyer.&quot;He moved in when his grandparents went to an aged care
facility. Then when he moved to Israel, his sister Tully, moved in. But
she was only here 12 months and then diagnosed with MS and had to move
back in with her parents.&quot;The family stayed in his former home for seven days, as is tradition, after they buried him and now they rent it out.

&quot;His family were devastated when he died.&quot;

Willy Zygier said he had &quot;no idea what is true, what isn't true&quot; and Ben's parents were still in mourning.

&quot;All I know is there's a family tragedy. Every suicide is a tragedy,&quot; Willy said.

&quot;Ben's parents are in mourning. I don't know if they'll talk.&quot;
