Green Mountain Rangers - Airsoft Documentary

This is not mine, this was produced by both the Green Mountain Rangers and High Ready Clips.

I know some of you are living in countries in which airsoft is either illegal or severely regulated, and some of you may not know a single thing about airsoft, and others are either highly opinionated or could not give a damn less. Regardless, this is a fairly well done independent documentary featuring one of the most well known teams on the East coast of the United States.

The Green Mountain Rangers formed in 1999 primarily as a military re-enactment group and have continued to evolve from there. They are a fantastic group of people, I have had the pleasure of meeting them on several occasions. GMR is one of the hardest training airsoft groups in the United States and they excel on the field.

Several of their members are Land Rover enthusiasts, importing, obtaining, and restoring antique civilian and military Land Rovers from points around the world. This earns brownie points from me.

More information can be found here: http://gmrangers.com/

UL Quality is relatively low due to file size, I combined the 5 part documentary in 1 part so anyone who is actually interested in this didn't have to spend a whole evening tracking down all 5 parts.

Operation Red Storm East was held at the Scranton Lace Factory, in Scranton, PA during the weekend of April 27th-29th 2012. Over 300 participants faced off in this factory that had been closed since 2002.

I don't know how many of you are familiar with airsoft, but I had a blast. It was a very unique experience in a very unique building. I wish I had time to go through the building and photograph it. This facility had over a million square feet, some structures over four stories tall, and way too many staircases.

"Dieseling" Your Air Rifle

I've never been one to tinker with air rifles, but this is something that I sort of stumbled upon after getting oil in the wrong spot. At first I was perplexed, and slightly terrified to touch my rifle. I did a little bit more research (Google is remarkably unhelpful when you have no idea what you're trying to find) and found out, this has been known for generations, and countless kids have toyed with it in the past.

That's all good and well for them, but when my air rifle spat smoke and a report louder than I .22 I damn near crapped myself. Perhaps like me you have never heard of this, and if so I encourage you to watch my bumbling and albeit camera shy journey to understand, and put into practice this "Dieseling" phenomenon.

I have an outstanding understanding (haha) of how this all works now, it's amazing what you can learn in a day. So sit back, relax, and spend the next 8 minutes watching me uncover the mystery of the small Oil Mist explosion within my old beat up Air Rifle.

Apparently, I say, "Okay, so..." a bit much. I don't get in front of a camera too often, I'll have to fix that!
More information available here, if this piques your interest! http://www.pyramydair.com/blog/2007/05/what-does-dieseling-mean-part-1.html

Air Rifles vs. Riot Shield, Ballistic Goggles, R-Lux Mask and Robot

I recently pulled my Air Rifles out of storage, a Beeman .177 caliber break barrel and a Benjamin 392 multi-pump .22.
Shots were taken from roughly 16-25 feet. .177 Hits about 1100 FPS, .22 averages around 780 FPS.

Not surprisingly the break barrel had the deepest impacts, but what surprised me was the fact that neither air rifle was able to penetrate the Riot Shield or Goggles. I had always assumed that a pellet rifle would be able to punch straight through. Not that I would feel safe being behind either, I was impressed.

The riot shield is 3/16th lexan - Very little damage, minor dents and scuffs. Held up far better than I had expected.

Goggles are Z87+ rated - Arena Flakjack - Aside from the lens separating from the frame, zero penetration. Some interior bulging when hit by the .177, overall very sturdy lenses.

The R-Lux mask was junk, but interesting to shoot at - Fiberglass holds up pretty well at an oblique angle. Perpendicular shots destroy it. Makes for some gratifying shrapnel into the foam heads face though.

The Robot was pure fun, plus it had a foul mouth - THIS is proof that if robots rise up to be humanity's biggest enemy, they're going to be a bastard to kill. This toy would not die, after shooting out its face it continued to light up and attempt to move.

It's probably a lot more fun to be the shooter than the viewer, but I hope you enjoy it anyway!

I just found this on my hard drive. It may not look all that serious, but it was fairly devastating to the communities involved, this doesn't happen very often up here.

It was mostly just heavy rain, with frozen ground, the water had nowhere to go. We don't have any real sharp or severe terrain in Rhode Island so luckily there was no flash flooding or extraordinarily dangerous washout. A couple old mills got messed up, a lot of localized flooding, a rural bridge or two washed out, and the Warwick Mall was subjected to 3 feet of water.
All in all, it was pretty exciting for some (me) and terrible to others.

Enjoy everyone!

Abandoned Mental Hospital - Paul Dever

This is from an expedition several weeks ago.

This site was the location of the former Camp Myles Standish, a jump off station for troops headed to Africa and prison for German and Italian POW's during World War II. After the closing of the camp in 1946, this location was a candidate for the United Nations Headquarters, another site was ultimately selected. In 1951 the Commonwealth of Massachusetts took over the camp, it soon became the Myles Standish State School for the Mentally Retarded, later renamed the Paul A. Dever State School in honor of Paul A. Dever, former Governor of Massachusetts, who was instrumental in seeing the school facility built.

The pictures and video do not do this place justice, it is simply amazing. There are over 30 buildings on the site, many connected by tunnels, and all of them abandoned.

Enjoy LL!

You'll find a lot of misinformation on the internet about this place, keep in mind, the Paul. A. Dever State School is about as haunted as Ghost Hunters.

Since I saw some of you out there seem to enjoy cemeteries as much as I do, I figured I'd follow up with another one ASAP. And this time, no over done music. (At least to my knowledge) Also, sorry for the standard definition, HD encoded at 280 Mb, just over my upload size limit. When I get the HD version on youtube I'll provide a link for those so inclined.

Today's location, Mount Hope Cemetery in North Attleborough, MA.

"Let the spot be diversified with brook and pond and rushing stream, with plain and hillock, with sunshine and shade, with the natural forest and cultivated grove..." - With these words prepared by Reverend J.M.B. Bailey and delivered by John Daggett, Mount Hope Cemetery was consecrated on July 2, 1850. Though the site was consecrated in 1850, several stones date back to the 1770's and earlier. This is largely due in part to the consolidation of private family plots, moving them from private property to a more common burial ground. Unfortunately, due to this process many of the older grave markers have been re-arranged to accomodate transplanted memorials.

As you can see, the entrance to the cemetery has been sculpted towards beauty, these rolling hills and ambling pathways continue towards the rear. At the back of the cemetery you will find the newer burials, as recent as 2012.

Mount Hope was the 4th cemetery to join the membership of the American
Association of Botanical Gardens & Arboreta. This is one of the most scenic cemeteries with the most active fauna I have ever visited.

More information can be found here: http://mounthopecemetery.us/

If there are any cemeteries you'd like to see in the MA/RI area let me know, I'll see what I can do. XD

For those of you who don't know me, which is all of you, I love cemeteries. Always have, ever since I was a small child. Swan Point Cemetery in Providence, RI is one of my favorites, not just because of it's size.

It was established in 1846 and can be found in the National Register of Historic places, growing from 60 acres to over 200, with near 40,000 burials. The stonework and statuary is amazing and remarkably well kept. You can find everything from monoliths to mausoleums.

Several notable burials within the cemetery are H.P. Lovecraft (Author and Poet), Richard Arnold (Union Army General), George Henry Corliss (Inventor of the Corliss Steam Engine), Benjamin Ham Child (Medal of Honor recipient of the Civil War), and Theodore Francis Green (US Senator and 57th Governor of Rhode Island). The T.F. Green airport is also named in his honor.

When you stand on the grounds you can feel the tranquility as well as the weight of history.

I do apologize for the solar panels reflection visible throughout, it didn't even cross my mind until reviewing the footage. I'll remove it next time! XD

Enjoy LiveLeak! Maybe next time you're in New England you'll take a journey to Swan Point and see it for yourself.
