Voters trust Clinton over GOP on Benghazi

PPP newest national poll finds that Republicans aren't getting much traction with their focus on Benghazi over the last week. Voters trust Hillary Clinton over Congressional Republicans on the issue of Benghazi by a 49/39 margin and Clinton's

Voters think Congress should be more focused on other major issues right now rather than Benghazi. By a 56/38 margin they say passing a comprehensive immigration reform bill is more important than continuing to focus on Benghazi, and by a 52/43 spread they think passing a bill requiring background checks for all gun sales should be a higher priority.

While voters overall may think Congress' focus should be elsewhere there's no doubt about how mad Republicans are about Benghazi. 41% say they consider this to be the biggest political scandal in American history to only 43% who disagree with that sentiment. Only 10% of Democrats and 20% of independents share that feeling. Republicans think by a 74/19 margin than Benghazi is a worse political scandal than Watergate, by a 74/12 margin that it's worse than Teapot Dome, and by a 70/20 margin that it's worse than Iran Contra.

One interesting thing about the voters who think Benghazi is the biggest political scandal in American history is that 39% of them don't actually know where it is. 10% think it's in Egypt, 9% in Iran, 6% in Cuba, 5% in Syria, 4% in Iraq, and 1% each in North Korea and Liberia with 4% not willing to venture a guess.

At any rate what we're finding about last week's Benghazi focus so far is that Republicans couldn't be much madder about it, voters overall think Congress should be focused on other key issues, and Hillary Clinton's poll numbers aren't declining on account of it.

Rush Limbaugh - Dial Global Radio - Delisted on NASDAQ

Forget Labor Problems - Rush Limbaugh is a human wrecking ball.

Another radio company has said that Rush Limbaugh's comments about Sandra Fluke wound up hurting its bottom line.

Dial Global, a radio programming company, said on Thursday that it will remove itself from the NASDAQ stock exchange - a sure sign of financial trouble. In addition, it had multimillion dollar losses in its latest quarter.

Dial listed Rush Limbaugh as a reason for their failing business.... "advertisers' response to controversial statements by a certain nationally syndicated talk radio personality in March 2012."

That personality was, of course, Limbaugh, who called Fluke a "slut" for her birth control advocacy, prompting an advertiser exodus.

Other companies have cited Limbaugh as a partial reason for their weaker earnings. Cumulus, another radio company, said that his anti-Fluke rants had cost it millions of dollars.

McCain demanding answers on Benghazi...McCain skips the first Senate hearing with Intelligence Officials...because he wanted to be on TV...Demanding answers on Benghazi...

The GOP understands they are promoting a phony politically motivated witch hunt to deprive Obama of any momentum coming out of the elections...John McCain if you heart were true and you honestly wanted answers...Why would you skip the first Senate hearing on the most important event of our time?

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) is demanding a special select committee to investigate the events leading up to the deaths of four Americans in Benghazi, Libya and has held around-the-clock television appearances pressing for a complete review of the incident.

But all of the senator's media interviews and press availabilities may be interfering with his ability to gather information about the event. On Thursday morning, CNN's Dana Bash reported that McCain chose to hold a joint press conference with Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) rather than attend a closed-door briefing about the attacks:

Conservative columnist David Frum had some choice words on Morning Joe for the industry that has swelled to basically steal money from republican voters.

Republicans have been fleeced, exploited and lied to by a conservative entertainment complex...there are too many to name. Because the followers, the donors and the activists are so mistaken about the nature of the problems the country faces...just a simple question, and I went to Tea Party rallies and asked this question, have taxes gone up or down in recent years? They can't answer this question.

Frum declined to name names but he's more forthright in his ebook, Why Romney Lost . Frum is scathing in his criticism of the usual suspects (Fox News, Rush Limbaugh & talk radio, and many many more charlatans).

Thanks Teabaggers for Giving us the Senate

2010 was a brutal year, with historic GOP gains in the House. Republicans did well in the Senate, picking up seats in Arkansas, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Pennsylvania. With the Massachusetts seat they had picked up in a special election following Teddy's death, it whittled a 60-40 Democratic majority down to 53-47.The crazy thing about the election, however, is that Republicans could've picked up more. Early polling showed moderate-establishment-type Republicans en route to picking off Harry Reid in Nevada and appointed incumbent Michael Bennet in Colorado, while picking up open seats in Connecticut, and Delaware.

Rather than take their GOP Senate, the teabaggers ousted those establishment-backed candidates in favor of Sharron Angle in Nevada, Ken Buck on Colorado, Linda McMahon in Connecticut and Christine O'Donnell in Delaware. They took what would've been a one-seat Republican advantage and gifted Democrats those four seats.

2012 played it in similar fashion. Rather than nominate popular Connecticut moderate Chris Shays, the GOP stuck with Linda McMahon and her boatload of negatives. They nominated crazy fucks Todd Akin in Missouri, while they ousted ultra-safe GOP incumbent Dick Lugar in Indiana in exchange for Richard Mourdock. They might not have won the Connecticut race anyway-plenty of establishment Republicans went down this year at the hand of better Democratic candidates. But I can guarantee that Missouri and Indiana would be Red today had the GOP nominated sane candidates.

So we can safely assume that if the teabaggers didn't exist, Republicans today would be enjoying a 53-47 Senate majority. Instead, they face a 10-seat 55-45 deficit.

Those assholes are obnoxious, but they do have their uses.

Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson shut out of tonight's debate

Gary Johnson is on 47 states ballots and is being blocked out of tonights debate.

Tonight's presidential debate will have a global audience, high stakes and plenty of political drama as President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney square off for the first time.
What it won't have is a third candidate. The sponsor of tonight's showdown - the nonpartisan Commission on Presidential Debates - ruled that Libertarian Party candidate Gary Johnson will not be allowed to participate.
The commission said Johnson failed to meet its threshold of receiving at least 15 percent of the vote in a major polls. Johnson filed a lawsuit to contest the decision, but won't be on stage at tonight's event in Denver.
That's drawn the protest of at least two of the debate's corporate sponsors, Philips Electronics and the YMCA, who said they were pulling their support because of Johnson's exclusion.
The last time an independent candidate was allowed to participate in a debate with nominees from the two major parties was in 1992, when Ross Perot joined the stage with President George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton.
Johnson said today his campaign will provide live commentary during the debate via Twitter and other social media. But the former New Mexico governor made it clear that he's not happy to be shut out of tonight's event. "Someone has to stand up and call this what it is-a rigged system designed entirely to protect and perpetuate the two-party duopoly," Johnson spokesman Ron Nielson told US News and World Report. "That someone will be the Johnson campaign."

Only on FOX News...whose on-air personalities are members of the Broadcasters Union...could be this hypocritical

Fox News continues bashing of Unions on Fox & Friends this Friday when they went after the newly returned locked out NFL referees. It seems Eric Bolling and Kilmeade are having a hard time understanding why the crowds are happy to have those dirty, communist, union thugs back on the field.

KILMEADE: Can you believe a situation where referees get standing ovations? Cats and dogs living together...

BOLLING: Was there any blown calls? Did they get booed...

KILMEADE: They made a couple of and people booed because the home crowd wasn't happy with them, but that's normal. But I just can't believe people were looking at the referees -- the cameras were on them the whole game -- there was a huge standing ovation when they came in.

BOLLING: I'm booing them. I'm booing the whole referee thing. I'm booing.

KILMEADE: Why?

BOLLING: Because they're unions. This is more union thuggery going on.

Fox Talk Show Host Calls ABC News Report 'Spin,' 'Nothing New'

By MATTHEW MOSK and JOSEPH RHEE
July 21, 2010

Conservative talk show host Glenn Beck Wednesday lashed out at ABC News and at critics of Goldline, the precious metals dealer that has come under increased scrutiny for aggressive sales tactics.

Beck called the recent ABC News report about Goldline "the biggest spin you've ever seen" and suggested it was part of a government conspiracy to deprive mainstream Americans of choices in how they invest their savings.

"They are going to nudge the gold industry out of business," Beck said during his syndicated radio program Wednesday morning. "They are going to regulate it and regulate it and regulate it, until you won't be able to buy gold anymore. This is what I'm telling you -- they can't have people buying gold. They need to own all the gold. They're going to nudge us. Mark my words."

"ABC has done this story on Goldline and me, and there's nothing new there," Beck said. "Absolutely nothing new there."

Beck's retort was coupled with new postings on a website he created to respond to critics of Goldline -- most notably, Rep. Anthony Weiner, a New York Democrat who took the lead in questioning the company's tactics.

Weiner has alleged that the company intentionally pushes customers into buying collectable gold coins, instead of gold bullion, despite the fact that the coins have a much higher mark-up. Several Goldline customers told ABC News that they were coaxed into buying the coins, only to find out that they were much more difficult to resell at a profit, even as gold prices have skyrocketed.

ABC News reported on Monday that the sales tactics have prompted a joint investigation into the company by the Los Angeles County District Attorney and the Santa Monica City Attorney.

On his website, Beck noted that the Santa Monica's deputy city attorney who appeared on ABC's Nightline and Good Morning America this week to discuss the Goldline probe, was also a donor to the campaign of Barack Obama. FEC records show Radinsky made a $200 contribution to Obama in July 2008.

Radinsky told ABC News that "politics has nothing to do with our investigation."

"We're just here to enforce the law and to see that consumers are treated fairly," he said.

The other agency involved in the investigation, the L.A. County District Attorney's Office, is headed by Steve Cooley, who is this year's Republican candidate for California Attorney General.

The Santa Monica City Attorney's office has asked any Goldline International customer with a complaint to visit its website at http://www.gold.smconsumer.org.
