.

From Margaret Thatcher's original (now extremely prescient) warning of the European Union's structure creating "insecurity, unemployment, national resentment, and ethnic conflict"
to Nigel Farage's recent clarifications on the agonizing direction in
which the unelected leadership of the Union are pulling Europe, this
brief 3 minute clip draws some significantly eery similarities between
the former Soviet Union and the current European Union. Every now and
again, a step back to look for context in history is important - as
while the Soviet Union was created by armed force, the European Union is
being forced by political coercion and economic bullying . Perhaps Churchill summed up best how it should be, "We are with Europe, but not of it; we are linked but not combined; we are interested and associated but not absorbed."

The town of Abbottabad may be known as the site where U.S. Navy SEALs shot and killed Osama bin Laden
in May 2011. But that may soon change, as Pakistani authorities
have put in motion plans to build a $30 million amusement park
in the area, complete with a zoo and adventure sports facilities
and restaurants, according to a Raw Story report.Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa province governing officials hope the project will
boost tourism and, in turn, local economies, according to the
report. They also hope the fun-filled atmosphere will overcome the
town's image and offset its humiliation from the successful U.S.
raid, the report continued."The amusement city will be built on 50 acres in the first phase but later will be extended to 500 acres," said Syed Aqil Shah ,
the provincial minister for tourism and sports, in the Raw
Story report. "It will have a heritage park, wildlife zoo, food
street, adventure and paragliding clubs, waterfalls and jogging
tracks."Construction reportedly is set to start in the next couple of months.

Anonymous Claims It Hacked Fed, Releases Confidential Banker Information

A year and a half ago, when the hacker group Anonymous launched its
anti-Bernanke, anti-Fed campaign dubbed Operation Empire State Rebellion
(or OpESR), we stated, rhetorically and jokingly, that "perhaps in the aftermath of the IMF "very major breach" by anonymous hackers, it is really time to make sure all external access points to FedWire and FedLine are truly safe and sound .
It will be very sad if it is uncovered that this source of externally
accessible portal to hundreds of billions in emergency Fed funding has
been somehow compromised. Just imagine the loss of confidence in the
system... Why, a global distributed attack would really stretch the Fed's 1,200-strong police force quite thin." It appears that either FedWire or FedLine may not have been " truly safe and sound " after all.
Recall that a week ago in retribution for the suicide of Aaron Swartz, Anonymous launched yet another "operation " this time titled " Last Resort ",
as a result of which it hacked the Department of Justice and released a
1.3 GB folder of still encrypted "warhead" data containing files each
named for Supreme Court Justices. And while there has been no additional
disclosure on this latest operation, Anonymous may have reverted to the
mothballed OpESR, by hacking none other than the Fed.
As ZD reports, last
night Anonymous once again hacked a .gov site, this time the Alabama
Criminal Justice Information Center (ACJIC). But it was not the site
hacked that was material, but rather what was posted on it. What was
posted is an extended data dump sheet, titled " oops we did it again "
which lists some 4,606 rows of confidential credential data including
titles, names, addresses, emails, phone numbers, logins, password
hashes, and much more. The spreadsheet can be found at this link .
And while the data contains primarily B-grade information, with no
New York bank disclosure at least on a cursory check, a more important
question is where was this data sources. Anonymous itself provides a
clue in a tweet from last night:
Now we have your attention America: Anonymous's Superbowl Commercial 4k banker d0x via the FED acjic.alabama.gov/documents/oops... #opLastResort #Anonymous

- OpLastResort (@OpLastResort) February 4, 2013

And judging by the level of detail, it is possible that Anonymous did
indeed hack either FedWire or FedLine, although it is just as possible
this was merely grabbing root data in some low security regional Fed
website.
Anonymous provides some additional information in a further tweet:

We note that the Federal Reserve
minidrop earlier was just a counter-distraction to the superbowl
distraction. We await the DOJ's statement.
- OpLastResort (@OpLastResort) February 4, 2013

In other words, to Anonymous this is merely an escalation of its
Anti-DOJ campaign demanding structural changes (good luck) as
retribution for the Swartz death. It is unlikely it will get them.
What is curious, however, is if Anonymous really did penetrate one of
the Fed's critical money clearing networks, and if indeed it has access
to key financial data at the granular, regional bank level. A bigger
question then is just how much more Fed-level access does Anonymous
have, and will it resort to it as its demands are unmet by the DOJ in
the coming days. Or in other words, what else can and will Anonymous
release?

It IS Richard III: DNA confirms 15th century king's body has been found under a car park in Leicester complete with curved spine that proves Shakespeare's hunchback myth - but no withered arm
Historical records say he was taken to the city after he was killed in 1485

UPDATED: 12:56, 4 February 2013

Human remains found buried beneath a social services car park in Leicester are those of Richard III, scientists confirmed today.

In an extraordinary discovery which rewrites the history books, the skeleton was identified by DNA analysis after researchers traced one of the king's descendants. Newly-released pictures of the remains show a distinctive curvature of the spine synonymous with the last Plantagenet king since Shakespeare immortalised him in one of his most famous works.Experts also discovered injuries including a cloven skull which were the cause of his death at the Battle of Bosworth in 1485.

There was, however, no evidence of the withered arm, an enduring part of the popular Richard legend as woven by Shakespeare.

The hunchback king: The skeleton, unearthed in a
dig last September, showed evidence of the same curvature of the spine
and battle injuries thought to have been suffered by the last
Plantagenet king

The face of a king: There were cheers from media who had gathered from around the world as the announcement was made at the University of Leicester this morning
There were cheers from media who had gathered from around the world as the announcement was made at the University of Leicester this morning.Dr Jo Appleby of the University of Leicester presented the results of the analysis of the skeleton, which she said presented a 'highly convincing case' that it was Richard III.But it was her colleague Dr Turi King's analysis of the skeleton's DNA that offered the final, explosive confirmation. She said there was a DNA match between the maternal line of a descendant of the family of Richard III and the remains found beneath Grey Friars car park.

Lead researcher Dr Richard Buckley added: 'It is the academic conclusion of the University of Leicester that the individual exhumed at Grey Friars in August 2012 is indeed King Richard III, the last Plantagenet King of England.

'It has been an honour and privilege for all of us to be at the centre of an academic project that has had such phenomenal global interest and mass public appeal.

'Rarely have the conclusions of academic research been so eagerly awaited.'

Dr King, a geneticist at University of Leicester, confirmed DNA from the skeleton matched that of two of Richard III's family descendants - Canadian born furniture maker Michael Ibsen and a second person who has asked to remain anonymous.

Dr King said: 'The DNA sequence obtained from the Grey Friars skeletal remains was compared with the two maternal line relatives of Richard III.

'We were very excited to find that there is a DNA match between the maternal DNA from the family of Richard III and the skeletal remains we found at the Grey Friars dig.'

Dr Appleby said the skeleton was found in good condition with its feet missing in a grave around 680 metres (2,231 feet) below ground level.

Analysis of the skeleton showed that the individual was male and in his late 20s to late 30s. Richard III was 32 when he was killed at the Battle of Bosworth in 1485.

The analysis also showed the individual had a slender physique and severe scoliosis - a curvature of the spine - possibly with one shoulder visibly higher than the other. This is consistent with descriptions of Richard III's appearance from the time, the researchers said today.

Trauma to the skeleton showed the king died after one of two significant wounds to the back of the skull - possibly caused by a sword and a halberd.

Dr Appleby said this was consistent with contemporary accounts of the monarch being killed after receiving a blow to the head.

The skeleton also showed a number of non-fatal injuries to the head and rib and to the pelvis, which is believed to have been caused by a wound through the right buttock.

Dr Appleby said these may have been so-called 'humiliation injuries' inflicted after his death.

'The skeleton has a number of unusual features: its slender build, the scoliosis and the battle related trauma,' she said.

'All of these are highly consistent with the information that we have about Richard III in life and about the circumstances of his death.

'Taken as a whole, the skeletal evidence provides a highly convincing case for identification as Richard III.'

I don't know why but this has been circulating in my head for the last three days, I don't even particularly like it, the drum machine is a joke, and as for Plant well. As a life long Led Zeppelin fan AND local resident of Stourbridge I can say I've seen Rob in Stourbridge on more than one occasion (though not recently) So I should be bias.

I think its the first 1:30 which in my opinion can be included in my top intros of the 80's

WANG IT UP AND IGNORE THE DRUM KIT! This aint Bonham

Physicists create world's first multiverse of universes in the lab

Researchers at the University of Maryland, College Park and Towson University are reporting that they have created multiple universes inside a laboratory-created multiverse -
a world first. To be exact, the researchers created a metamaterial - like those used to fashion invisibility cloaks - that, when light passes through it, multiple universes are formed
within it. These universes, called Minkowski spacetimes, are similar to
our own, except they more neatly tie up Einstein's theory of special
relativity by including time as a fourth dimension. While this is rather extraordinary, the experimental setup
is actually quite simple - though definitely rather unconventional. The
multiverse is created inside a solution of cobalt in kerosene. This
fluid isn't usually considered a metamaterial, but lead
researcher Igor Smolyaninov and co found that by applying a magnetic
field, the ferromagnetic nanoparticles of cobalt line up in neat
columns. When light passes through these columns, it behaves as if it's
in a Minkowski universe.

To create multiple
universes, the researchers fine-tuned the amount of cobalt in the fluid
until there wasn't quite enough to form the nanocolumns. Natural
variations in the fluid mean that some regions still have enough cobalt
to form the columns, and thus new universes. As the fluid moves the
columns collapse, multiple universes constantly pop in and out of
existence. There are two key takeaways here: First, metamaterials
are usually rather hard to manufacture - and yet here the researchers
have seemingly discovered a self-organizing metamaterial. Second, this
is the first ever time that new universes have been created in a
laboratory setting. This is about as bleeding-edge as it gets, so we're
not exactly sure what avenues of research this opens up, but Smolyaninov
suggests that they could be used to study how particles behave in
universes with different properties than our own. Our universe has
fairly firm rules on how particles behave, but it might be interesting
to create a pet universe where, say, photons have mass and light travels
really slowly.
