Dancing Earns Girls 2 Years in Juvenile Detention

Last week, the Indonesian police charged five teenage girls with blasphemy. What was their crime? Dancing to a Maroon 5 song, alternating between pop moves and traditional prayer movements. The video, which was filmed with a cell phone, was posted online.

According to press reports, it was first uploaded in March but entirely ignored. Only after the school headmaster reported the "incident" to the Indonesian authorities did the police take interest. The video has now been viewed over 500,000 times on YouTube.

The school headmaster felt offended by the allegedly blasphemous crime-yet he is the one who raised the profile of the video. Even if he considers teenage girls dancing and giggling offensive, are criminal charges the best response? Does plucking the video from obscurity and promoting criminal prosecution advance social and religious harmony? Content offensive to someone is an inevitable part of the internet, and it can be contested through the counter-speech that free expression encourages.

He reported his students to the local police, claiming to have consulted with the Indonesia Ulema Council as well as the Islamic Defenders Front. He also expelled the girls from their school in Tolitoli city on Sulawesi Island. Not only are the teenagers now accused of blasphemy and facing criminal charges, but they have been forbidden from taking an important national exam to graduate from high school.

In other words, a school headmaster has deliberately jeopardized the academic future of his own students. He has received no sanctions as of yet.

The girls are being charged under Article 156 (a) of the Indonesian penal code, which targets those who deliberately express "feelings of hostility, hatred, or contempt" against religions. It is hard to define from a legal point of view what constitutes "hostility, hatred or contempt" so the government or individuals can abuse its interpretation and implementation, to stifle dissent and debate. The penalty for violating Article 156(a) is a maximum of five years imprisonment. Minors usually face half the adult sentence, so the teenage girls whose crime was to dance could face juvenile detention for two and a half years.

Indonesia's blasphemy law is not atypical: these laws promote an atmosphere of intolerance by providing a context in which governments can restrict freedom of expression, thought, and religion. The loose and unclear language of article 156 (a) empowers majorities against dissenters and the state against individuals.

Human Rights First monitors cases of blasphemy around the world. For more information, check out report Blasphemy Laws Exposed. Indonesia's blasphemy law has often targeted victims on grounds of thought or belief. It has also triggered grave outbreaks of violence. Here is a sample of recent human rights abuses in Indonesia caused by its blasphemy law (in chronological order):

On July 12, 2012, the Shia leader Tajul Muluk was sentenced to two years in prison on blasphemy charges. Muluk was accused of encouraging Muslims to pray three rather than five times a day, in addition to allegedly stating that the Koran was no longer authentic and that believers need not make the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca. Muluk and his Shia followers were attacked and threatened, and their houses, a place of worship, and Muluk's school were by a mob of Sunni Muslims, none of whom were arrested. On August 26, Muluk's village was attacked. Two Shia men were killed, dozens were injured, and many Shia houses were burnt. This time, several perpetrators were detained. Muluk's sentence was later extended to four years in prison by East Java High court.

On March 14, 2012, Andreas Guntur, the leader of the spiritual group Amanat Keagungan Ilahi (AKI), was sentenced to four years in prison for blasphemy. A fatwa was issued against AKI by the Indonesia Council of Ulema in 2009, claiming that they rejected conventional Islamic rituals.

On January 18, 2012, Alex Aan, an atheist man, was arrested for allegedly stating on his Facebook account that God did not exist. Before he was arrested by the authorities, Aan was severely beaten by an angry mob that called for his beheading. While in police custody, he was later beaten by a group of inmates who knew about the accusations against him. After being transferred to another prision, Aan was handed a prison sentence of two years and six months. He is currently appealing his sentence to the country's Supreme Court.

On August 14, 2011, in response to the sentencing of individuals involved in a fatal attack on an Ahmadiyya house of worship in February 2011, hundreds of members of Islamic Defender's Front (FPI), armed with machetes and bamboo sticks, stormed another Ahmadi mosque while ten Ahmadis were praying inside in Makassar, South Sulawesi. One victim suffered serious head injuries and three human rights workers who tried to stop the attack were beaten. According to reports, the police did nothing to stop the violent attack.

On February 8, 2011, more than one thousand protestors stormed the District Court in Temanggung after Antonius Richmond Bawengen, a Christian from Jakarta, received what extremists believed to be a too lenient sentence for blasphemy. The mob attacked prosecutors, judges, and the defendant, injuring nine people; then destroyed three churches and torched vehicles. Bawengen was sentenced to five years in prison, the maximum sentence under Article 156 of Indonesia's criminal code, for distributing books and leaflets that "spread hatred about Islam." Some called for the death penalty. Prosecutors are seeking a one-year sentence for Syiabuddin, the leader of the mob, because he runs an Islamic boarding school and has had no prior convictions. Seventeen of the 25 men who were tried for participating in the riot also received light jail sentences of four to five months on charges of vandalism. The maximum sentence for the charge of incitement is six years in prison.

On February 6, 2011, while twenty-one members of the Ahmadiyya sect assembled at the home of their leader, a mob composed of more than one thousand villagers armed with machetes and sticks, stormed the house of worship, killing four and wounding six others. Graphic video footage of the brutal and allegedly unprovoked attack shows the attackers stoning their victims to death and then beating the corpses, some naked, as police officers and villagers watched and did nothing to stop the bloodshed. According to Waseem Sayed, a spokesperson for the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in the United States, the police were warned of the attack days before the event.

Islamic methods for Pedophila

OP's note: In Islam, a woman is an object. An object to be raped, married - divorced at leisure, used to settle debts, treated as a draft animal to bear children and do menial labor.

Free will & consent - are alien concepts in Islam, which (not surprisingly) literally translates to "submission".

As per Islam, and reinforced by a recent Fatwa by a Saudi Cleric - a woman is responsible for the rape she suffers. Islam acknowledges that men are base creatures without self control, and it is the responsibility of women to not arouse men by exposing themselves. And since pedophilia is a long standing cultural pillar of Islam, this fatwa was specifically geared to address babies and toddlers.

Please read more about this fatwa here:
http://english.alarabiya.net/articles/2013/02/03/264031.html

Evidently the "exposed" flesh of a 2 month old girl baby is too much temptation to resist for the base, animalistic Moslem male.

And in the last few decades Islam has been busy taking major strides ... BACKWARDS. The progress of the Hashemite kings of Jordon or Kemal Ataturk of Turkey, have long been abandoned. Even "progressive" Western Allied states like Turkey are busy exploring avenues of returning to a tribal nomadic subsistence, based on warfare, pillaging, rape and over all barbaric debauchery : the hall marks of everything Islamic.

In continuing my recent posts, as a protest against offenses towards women, I am, as a son, a husband and a father, with an intention to protect the rights and freedom of women the world over, present this new development from Iran.

In Iran, the "Morality Police" are seeking to have burqas on toddlers - to start them early in their indoctrination to a life of servitude and pain.

I urge you to read, comment, subscribe, share, educate and donate (if its possible), if you feel as strongly as I do about this issue.

The original news article is from : http://english.alarabiya.net/articles/2013/02/27/268645.html

Islamic dress and notions of chastity will be taught to toddlers in Iran, as part of a move by the country to instill Islamic teachings into the younger generation, a report on Wednesday revealed.

The governor of Tehran, Morteza Tamadon, has recently stressed the importance of "popularizing" chastity and hijab among Iranians, advising that kindergarteners be taught, "before reaching those in higher education," the Guardian reported.

"We cannot expect to see hijab and chastity exist in society without proper cultural work," he said. "Our goal in the social transformation plan devised by the government is institutionalizing chastity and hijab as a natural in society," he said.

Islamist rulers in Iran have recently ordered stricter enforcement measures from the Iranian Moral Police and the Revolutionary Guards.

Recently, Iranian police have bolstered the enforcement of modesty laws. Women wearing mandatory headscarves improperly or in "vulgar" dress are usually warned before being fined or detained in police stations.

As for a program targeting toddlers, the welfare office of the Iranian city of Qom is reportedly "training 400 experts on hijab and chastity who will be sent to kindergartens across the city," according to the Guardian.

The report added that 1,530 kindergartens under the jurisdiction of a north-eastern province have already held "chastity and hijab exhibitions" in recent months.

"Research has found that indirect methods have more effect on kids," welfare officer Tahereh Bakhtiyari said in comments to the newspaper. "Using art expression is one of these methods."
A rose by any other name...

During the spring and summer months, Iran's morality police scour the country's streets in search for inappropriately dressed women.

In July 2012, a new initiative was set out to praise women who had been dressing modestly in the high temperature months. In a northern Iranian province, "modesty squads," gave out rose to women they deemed to be conservatively dressed.

According to Iranian police Chief Ismael Ahmadi Moqadam last June, Iran now wants to intensify its struggle against women who it believes dress in an un-Islamic way.

But some critics had branded the rose "gifts" to modestly dressed women as patronizing.

"Just who is the Iranian government to intervene and distinguish between 'good and bad' women?" Alireza Nourizadeh, the director of the Center for Arab & Iranian Studies in London, told Al Arabiya English.

According to Nourizadeh, the rose-giving was perhaps an attempt by the government to change tact over how to advise women to dress modestly.

"Some of the moderately dressed women would complain that the regime would harshly tell ladies on the street what to wear. They said that Islam-related advice should be said in a calmer, advisory way, and so now they are doing this."

"But this method shows no respect for women. It shows that women are a tool," Nourizadeh said, adding that this was another way women in Iran are being judged.

This video is about the state sponsored persecution of Ahmadiyya muslims in Pakistan.

The Ahmadis are among the most peaceful adherents of islam and they reject violent Jihad. They embraced Christians and followers of other religions, and rely on debates, prayer "duels", and other peaceful means to gain converts. The Ahmadis' belief about muhammad - that he may not be the final prophet - constitutes blasphemy which, in many cases, is punishable by death.

For those reasons, mainstream muslims consider them heretics, kafirs and apostates. Some Islamic states, like Pakistan, actively promote the persecution and killing of Ahmadis.

But you'll never hear "moderate" muslims coming to their defense, just as you never hear "moderate" muslims protesting Islamic violence.

-------------------------------------------

From: http://www.thepersecution.org/archive/mtkn.html

The Majlise Tahafuzze Khatame Nabuwwat is an organisation dedicated specifically to the persecution of Ahmadi Muslims in Pakistan and to spreading hatred against them around the world.

The government of Pakistan encourages their activities by allowing them to murder Ahmadis with impunity and accepting charges brought by the organisation against Ahmadi Muslims under Martial Law Ordinance XX and the blasphemy law.

It would be impossible to give a complete description of the murderous campaign of the Khatame Nabuwwat organisation agaisnt Ahmadi Muslims in Pakistan over the decades and this section of the report should be taken as being very incomplete and under construction.

The Khatame Nabuwwat organisation played a leading role in the anti-Ahmadi riots of 1952-53 during which acts of murder, arson, and assault were carried out against Ahmadi Muslims.

In recent years, they have maintained a campaign of persecution against Ahmadi Muslims in Pakistan with the help and cooperation of auccessive governments.

It is very sad and painful to see that a violent mob of so-called followers of islam set on fire an Ahmadiyya Muslim Mosque in Indonesia. I want to ask all those violent so-called Muslims that from where they got this violent teachings? Being an Ahmadi Muslim and follower of the HOly Prophet of Islam Muhammad (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) we cannot think in our dream also of such a cheap, cruel and unholy act.Islam is the religion of peace and tollarence then how a Muslim can do such unholy act.I want to draw the attention of all the Indonesian and other countries Muslim brother that see the condition of Pakistan and learn a lesson from it. Pakistan was the first Muslim country who started the persecution of Ahmadiyya Muslim's see the present condition of Pakistan; Pakistan is known as the epicentre of terrorism in this world. If Indonesia is choosing the foot step of Paksitan to follow in Place of the foot step of HOly Quran and Holy Prophet of Islam Muhammad (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him)then Indonesia will withness the wrath of GOD Who is the Ultimate Ruler and Savior of oppressed people.

Afghanistan | 21.07.2007

Despite Taliban Claims, One German Hostage Still Alive

An Afghan foreign ministry spokesman said on Saturday that one Taliban-held German hostage was alive and that a second had died of a heart attack, denying claims that militants had killed both.

In a day of fast-changing developments, a ministry spokesman said that Kabul authorities were working to secure the safe return of the hostage still alive.

"Our security agencies reported to us that one of the German engineers is still alive and the second died of heart attack and heat," ministry spokesman Sultan Ahmad Baheen told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa.

"Our security forces are trying to secure the safe return of the German national who is still alive (but) in custody," Baheen said, but declined to say who the kidnappers were.

A Taliban spokesman had earlier claimed both engineers had been killed following their kidnap last Wednesday, with the Taliban demanding that Germany withdraw its some 3,000 troops among the NATO forces in Afghanistan.

When the group's deadline for action expired earlier Saturday, it said it had executed both Germans.

Previously, the German ARD broadcaster also reported from its Kabul office that one of the hostages had died as a result of extreme heat and illness, but that the other was still alive and negotiations for his release were ongoing.

Merkel cancels interview

With the situation in flux, German Chancellor Angela Merkel postponed a TV interview which was to have been taped on Saturday by Germany's ARD broadcasting network. ARD said she might not now speak until just before the Sunday evening broadcast.

The head of the German armed forces, General Wolfgang Schneiderhan, said in an interview released on Saturday that the Taliban was trying to spread fear.

"In terms of alliance obligations, any pullout (from Afghanistan) would in my opinion be disastrous," he warned in the interview to be published in Monday's edition of the weekly Der Spiegel.

The interview was conducted prior to Saturday's events surrounding the German hostages.

Taliban demand pullout

Taliban insurgents on Wednesday kidnapped two German nationals along with their five Afghan colleagues in Maidan Wardak province.

Purported Taliban spokesman Qari Mohammad Yousef Ahmadi had said earlier, "the Taliban leadership council demands all the German troops be pulled out of the country and in addition all Taliban prisoners in Afghan government jails be released."

A German held for a week in western Afghanistan was freed by his abductors on July 5. It was not made known whether a ransom was paid. In Oct. 2006, two German journalists from the Deutsche Welle were shot dead in northern Afghanistan.

Emphasis on reconstruction

German troops in Afghanistan are stationed mainly in the relatively peaceful north. Their primary job is to help with local reconstruction projects to revive education and commerce.

The German Development Aid Ministry has an annual budget of 100 million euros ($138 million) for bilateral aid to Afghanistan, with about 20 million euros going direct to the Afghan government construction fund.

The United States, Japan, Britain and Germany are the main donors in the country.

Some German troops are also deployed in the US-led Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) against the Taliban.

In addition, Germany is leading EUPOL, a European Union mission to train and advise the Afghan police.

This Israeli commercial (for YES satellite TV) is from 2008 but seems nothing has changed- Iran,Ahmadinejad,Uranium,bombing....

Have no idea where it was taken and seems it is the only commercial in the world which combine Hebrew and Persian at the same time... :)

Translation:
Ahmedinajad (in Persian): My brothers, the Uranium is in our hands. After coming Monday: goodbye Israel!

Crowd: Good by Israel!

Someone from the crowd: Why Monday? That day there is the last episode of (TV series) "Danny Hollywood**"

Someone else from the crowd: Why on Monday? On Monday that's the beginning of the "Papadizi" and "Srugim**"

Song (mixed Hebrew/Persian): Please Ahmedinejad, I'm in the middle of the episode, If I won't be able to watch then Tehran will be in a big mess... No more series and I'll be lost... Forget the bombing, watch Israeli YES Star, great series....

** Israeli local series

You can also watch this commercial of an Israeli guy walking in the middle of Iran , or this funny WWII Yes commercial
