The YPG however will not enforce these rules, a local police force and a judiciary will be created consisting of every ethnicity. The leadership should at least have 40% of women (not sure about the number). According to this civil code: - Under no circumstances can two persons under 18 years marry each other. - Women can choose their husband freely and forced marriage is prohibited. - The exchange of women in marriage is prohibited. - Polygamy is prohibited. - The dowry is prohibited; instead both husband and wife are responsible for earning the necessities of life. - The mother should maintain her child till 18 years old, and after the child turns to 18 years, the child can choose her/his fate - Men and women are equal in inheritance. It's one that officially marks the entry of the Trekker term "phaser" into real world science, but that's not the big deal. Essentially, they say they have created the first purely mechanical architecture for creating a sound-based laser - they call it a "phaser" - that works like and would be constructed in much the same way regular light, or photo- based, lasers are. But minus the photons. That means there are all kinds of real world applications at hand - many of them at this point so cutting edge as to be unimaginable, analysts say. Invention is the mother of necessity of invention, after all, and figuring out how to build phonon phasers, sound lasers or phonon beams is the first step to real testing and real adoption. And real ideas on what to do with such a thing. The first phonon laser demonstration - let's settle on the term phaser for this sound laser - arrived on the scene just in 2010. And laser technology is only 50 or so years old. In an empirical science such as physics, this is rapid, mind-blowing progress. What's a Phonon? What we're talking about here is a laser (a phaser) made of so-called phonons - think of them as sound particle equivalents to light. Traditional lasers - laser is a term short for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation - exclusively rely on photons How to mix it up with another particle or wave? That was the question. In 2010, physicists demonstrated the first laser that similarly concentrated bits of sound into a tight beam the way lasers do with light particles. But there were problems - mainly as a result of architecture that involved having to deal with sound waves, phonoms, and photons, in the same scenario. Now physicists have crossed a major milestone and solved a critical piece of the puzzle. This is according to the NTT physicists who've now published a new architecture for building a non-optical sound-based laser in a paper, called Phonon Lasing in an Electromechanical Resonator in the Mar. 18 version of the American Physical Society's journal Physical Review Letters. In the APS open to non-subscribers journal Physics, Jos'e Tito Mendonca provided the following description and background today. It is readable in place below. Mendonca , a physicist at the Instituto Superior T'ecnico in Portugal, says the innovation from the NTT researchers led by Mahboob, et al, of Japan, reveals a stunning step forward toward the creation of sound-based lasers - phasers based on phonons. He writes: In the last decade, the realization of a phonon laser has been pursued using di?erent approaches, involving ... semiconductor quantum wells ... nanomechanical devices ... nanomagnets ... single trapped ions ... or a laser-cooled gas ... But it wasn't until 2010 until truly "coherent" laserbeam quality phonon emission was demonstrated using optical microcavities to stimulate " acoustic emission in the range of hundreds of megahertz ... and in the terahertz range," Mendonca says. Other optical pumping methods were available, but many physicists believed that an architecture involving optical pumping and optics tech could hamper development of the real McCoy. Physicists were looking for a purely mechanical phonon laser architecture to get around problems that had to use both phonons and photons and other complicated schemes. Now, with today's announcement from the NTT researchers, we see a major breakthrough. Possible applications include security probes but, physicists common, the potential uses of such a device likely are so far unimaginable. The development of a purely mechanical architecture for phonon lasers "would pose a major breakthrough. Now, the paper of Mahboob et al. reports a significant step towards this goal. The authors create a purely mechanical system of three energy levels that is reminiscent of a three-level laser scheme," Mendonca adds. Were I a member of that council I'd have voted no just because Islam is not a religion fit for a democratic government to celebrate. Islam is an oppressor's religion, not a democrat's religion. On the other hand, Luis Cotto's sentiment is reasonable if you assume Islam to be a religion worthy of recognition. Especially if you are a politician that has a Muslim community that is desirous of a Muslim prayer starting off a city council meeting - that is democracy, after all. But democracy is not why the council is doing this. They are doing this for the wrong reason, that of pretending to stand opposed to all these "anti-Islam events" sweeping the country. They are doing this for PCism and not because their constituents demanded it. The fact is there is no wave of "anti-Islam events" surging through the United States. Granted there is more disgruntled talk against Islam, but there are few incidents of actual anti-Islam discrimination happening anywhere in the country. In fact, the only real "event" going on is the one near Ground Zero as Islamic interlopers attempt to insert themselves into a situation in which they aren't wanted because their people are the ones responsible for the deaths of thousands nearby. This stirred "event" is of the Muslim's making, not anyone else's. Does it sound counter intuitive to say there are no "anti-Islam events" going on around the country? In actuality it isn't. We have but to check the FBI's hate crime statistics to see this fact born out. The FBI shows that it is far more likely that you'll be discriminated against if you are Jewish then if you're a Muslim. The last year that the FBI has released full data for hate crimes is 2008, but it shows that hate crimes against Jews far out number those against Muslims. FBI Hate Crime Statistics: Religious bias Of the 1,732 victims of anti-religious hate crimes: o66.1 percent were targeted because of an offender's anti-Jewish bias. o7.5 percent were victims because of an anti-Islamic bias. o5.1 percent were victims because of an anti-Catholic bias. o3.6 percent were victims because of an anti-Protestant bias. o0.8 percent were targeted because of an anti-Atheist/Agnostic bias. o2.8 percent were victims because of a bias against other religions (anti-other religion). o4.0 percent were victims because of a bias against groups of individuals of varying religions (anti-multiple religions, group). But let's face reality, here. As I said, there is a lot of disgruntled talk among Americans in general against Islam. This is only natural due to the provocations Muslims have indulged. America didn't just wake up one day and decide to hate Islam. Islamists have for 50 years been doing their best to provoke that hate. They started the ball rolling by blowing people up, cutting off people's heads, stoning women, hanging gays, destroying world art treasures, killing American soldiers, "honor" killing children, and generally making a hazard of themselves. Then they have the gall to say WE are the ones in the wrong? Points to them for blatant arrogance, I guess. Going back to the Hartford City Council, then, their actions end up actually feeding into the very thing they are claiming to want to remedy. They claim there is all this anti-Islam fever going on in the USA, but the stats just don't show it. The council's ballyhooing of such sentiment does more to promote that anti-Islam sentiment than it does to combat it simply by feeding into the false claim that it is pervasive. In the end what is far more likely than anything else is that we have a few left-wing politicians that want to get their names in the national news so that they can puff their chests and claim to be the most "tolerant" people on earth.
