It also bans the sale of 45 types of assault weapons, which have been linked to at least 461 U.S. deaths since 2004, according to the governor's office. "We've chosen to take action by advancing the strategies that work to save lives," O'Malley, a Democrat mentioned as a potential presidential candidate in 2016, said in a statement. The new law also reduces magazine capacity from 20 rounds to 10 rounds. People who have been involuntarily committed to a mental health facility will be banned from gun ownership. Maryland joins Connecticut and New York in expanding assault weapons bans and restricting the capacity of magazines in the aftermath of the Newtown elementary school shooting that killed 20 students and six adults in December. Imran Khan's party Pakistan Thereek Insaf (Pakistan's movement for justice, or PTI) had previously just one seat in the national assembly, of him himself. His party rose from on just one seat to becoming the second largest party in Pakistan, taking over Bhutto's party the Pakistan's People's Party (or PPP). PTI also become the most dominant force in Pakistan's Khyber Paktunka province, one of the four provinces of Pakistan. PMNL and PPP gained majority of their seats from the illiterate youth of Punjab and Sindh, respectively. PMNL (Pakistan's Muslim Noon League) is Nawaz Shariff's party, it has emerged as the largest party after winning majority seats in Punjab. Most of Pakistan's seats are contested in Punjab, the province with the largest population. Imran Khan won 3 of the 4 seats he was contesting in, 2 in Punjab and 1 in Khyber Puktunka. The 4th was in Lahore and lost due to rigging. Media outlets showed Imran Khan winning, but all of a sudden he lost? PMNL was accused of vote rigging, and protests are being done in Lahore to this day for that seat and many other seats alleged of vote rigging in Punjab. MQM, which is Altaf Hussain's party, supposedly won the most seats in Karachi. There were video evidence of rigging. After winning, Altaf Hussain, who is a British citizen living in Britain, threatened to secede Karachi from Pakistan and to attack anyone who protests. There were many people who were going to vote for PTI in Karachi, but with the alleged rigging, they had their votes put to no use. Now, because of the threats Altaf Hussain made, Pakistanis living in London and all over the world have been contacting the British police and get Altaf Hussain arrested for terrorist threats. The British high commissioner had taken notice of this, and the British police had said that they have gotten 10,000s of calls. I thought they were going to march straight to the GAP and storm it as vengeance for the police violence here on Mayday and later arrests. Instead, the march wound it's way east and south, passing through areas where National Police Week festivities were taking place. Nothing was stormed, I don't think the intel needed to locate specific targets had been gathered. The whole thing was organized very quickly. One of the speakers during the march was one of 4 people out of 9 victims of the original Chicago NATO raids who was released. The Chicago pigs stormed the house she was staying at, and at one point cocked a pistol and put it to her head. That will not be forgotten by anyone, but may not be remembered the way the gunman wanted it remembered. The main message of the protest was that holding activists without trial for a year, and putting activists into extreme incarceration in Communications Management Unit prisons, the things they have done to the NATO 5, have crossed a bright red line. Treating protesters at terrorists is going to have ugly consequences if it continues. It has before, it surely will again. If protest is outlawed, only outlaws can protest. The NATO 5 case has occurred almost concurrently with the Seattle Grand Jury witch-hunt that generated multiple grand jury resistors in jail for months (2 months in solidary), at least one underground, another abroad, no useful snitches-and at least 72 retaliatory strikes all over Turtle Island against upscale businesses, pro-gentrification groups, and even police stations and courthouses. The police here seemed to have realized they too crossed a line in the sand with their assaults on protesters on Mayday at the GAP and elsewhere, and they were on their best behavior. Not once did I see a cop make threats or attempt to pick a fight, in sharp contrast to their behavior on Mayday beginning at the very start of that march. Several key cops that made trouble on Mayday were not seen on the street, if they were there they stayed in their cars.
