The scene of the alleged crime is the woman's home on Goldstaff Lane. According to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police report, the mother called investigators on Monday to report her Pop-Tarts had been stolen. She fingered her own son, who is a juvenile, as the culprit. Neighbor Fred Patrick could not stop laughing when he first learned an arrest had been made over Pop-Tarts. He knows the young boy. "He seems real nice to me. I mean, he is real respectful," Patrick said. The report said that the boy was placed under juvenile arrest and was charged with larceny/misdemeanor. Another neighbor, Tiffany Covington, said in her house, food is there for everyone. "It would be nice if they asked, but they don't. They are kids," she said. NBC Charlotte waited over two hours for the mother to come home Wednesday evening. Apparently warned that a reporter was waiting at her front door, she parked her car a block away and slipped into her house through the back. More than two weeks after Charles Ramsey became an instant folk hero after telling his story to television reporters, Cleveland food blogger Michelle Venorsky said on Thursday that 15 restaurants are offering him a free hamburger, whenever he wants it. Venorsky floated the idea to her followers after seeing Ramsey's first interview on TV. "He was so entertaining...I thought he should never have to pay for another meal in Cleveland again," Venorsky said in a phone interview. Since his first interview on local TV, Ramsey, a dishwasher at a Cleveland restaurant, has become an Internet sensation. The restaurant produced a t-shirt with Ramsey's face and the words "Cleveland Hero" on the front, netting $21,000 for a fund set up for the women, who were held captive for about a decade. Ramsey was not available for comment on Thursday. He has had brushes with the law in the past, including domestic violence convictions. Amanda Berry, her six-year-old daughter, and two other women, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight, were discovered in the house of former school bus driver Ariel Castro on May 6. Ramsey heard Berry's calls for help and he and others helped her escape and call 911. Castro has been charged with multiple counts of kidnapping and rape. He is in jail on an $8 million bond. Diego Hernandez, 22, was arrested by Saanich police in September 2010 and charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a stolen TV. According to court documents, Hernandez was released without a bail hearing, on a promise to appear in court. In October 2012, after a preliminary inquiry, Hernandez was committed to stand trial in B.C. Supreme Court. The judge-alone trial is scheduled to begin Sept. 9. Hernandez was living in Langford a the time of his arrest, said Saanich Sgt. Steve Eassie. Although he was allegedly found with a "substantial amount" of cocaine, Hernandez was released on a promise to appear because he did not have a criminal record. Hernandez trained and competed in mixed martial arts and ran a gym in Puerto Vallarta. He and his friend Craig Silva from Phoenix, Ariz., disappeared May 8, three days after organizing a mixed martial arts fighting event. Victoria lawyer Ryan Drury, who has been representing Hernandez since the fall of 2010, last saw his client in September when he visited Puerto Vallarta. "He was competing and training down there. He appeared to have things in order with his mixed martial arts," Drury said Tuesday. "He's just a young guy. It's all really sad." The pair was last seen in Silva's truck, which has since been recovered by Mexican authorities.
