      <title>IDF jeep fired upon and hit from Syrian fire, IDF returns fire and destroys the firing post</title>

      <description>

Here is some background to acquaint posters of the current situation on the Golan.
On 2 November 2012, three Syrian Army tanks crossed into the UN-administered demilitarized zone and clashed with rebels near the village of Beer Ajam. During the clashes, stray bullets hit an Israeli patrol in the area. Israel responded on 5 November by filing a complaint with the United Nations Security Council, claiming Syria violated the 1974 Agreement on Disengagement signed following the Yom Kippur War. The terms of the 1974 armistice prevent the Syrian military from conducting operations within the DMZ.

On 11 November, a mortar shell from Syria's Quneitra Governorate landed near an Israeli military outpost in the Golan Heights.

On 12 November 2012, the Israeli Golan was shelled, after which the Israeli Defense Forces returned fire hitting a Syrian mobile artillery. The Israeli shelling of a Syrian territory occurred for the first time since the Yom Kippur War.

On 17 November there was another incident where Syrian army fire hit an IDF patrol near the DMZ, damaging one jeep although no injuries were reported.

On 18 November 2012, a shot was fired towards the Israeli soldiers in the central Golan Heights.

This was all well before any strike on Syria. There has been several more cases of IDF patrols coming under fire and Israel being bombarded from Syria since, with the most recent one posted here.

An IDF jeep was fired upon during the night (21/5/13) from Syria, damaging it. This is a continued blatant violation of the 1974 armistice with no repercussions by the U.N.

Israel finally reacted to these provocations and fired a single SPIKE-NLOS missile at the Syrian post where the fire was coming from for the last three days at Israel and IDF troops, the outpost was destroyed.

 Following three consecutive nights in which Syrian gunfire hits IDF unit in same Golan area, IDF fires back at Syrian post

IDF Spokesperson's Unit reported Tuesday that gunfire from Syria hit an IDF unit in the Golan Heights, as had occurred on the two previous nights. No injuries were reported, but a patrol jeep was damaged.

The IDF retaliated by firing a Tamuz missile that destroyed the post from which the shots were fired.

The IDF estimated that due to a recurring pattern of gunfire from the same Syrian area, directed at the same Israeli target and executed at roughly the same time at night, the gunfire was not the result of unintentional overspill and decided therefore to fire back.

The unit that was subjected to the gunfire was backed by numerous military forces, including aircraft, that helped with detecting the source responsible for the hits.

This is the third day in a row in which gunfire from Syria hits Israeli targets.

On both Monday and Sunday, an IDF force identified shooting from Syria in the direction of an open area in Israel. No injuries or damage were reported. The UN was informed of the incident.

Afterwards, the Assad regime tried to save face and came up with a shit lie:

Syria says destroyed Israeli vehicle

State television says Israeli vehicle crossed into Syrian territory, destroyed by Syrian troops; Israel denies

Syria said its troops destroyed an Israeli vehicle that crossed into its territory from the Israeli Golan Heights on Tuesday and warned that any attempt to violate its sovereignty would meet &quot;immediate and firm retaliation&quot;.

Israel denied the report, saying one of its vehicles was hit by gunfire on its side of Golan ceasefire line, but the incident highlighted the potential for renewed conflict along a frontline that has been largely quiet for nearly four decades.

In a statement broadcast by Syrian state television, Syria's military leadership said its forces destroyed an Israeli vehicle that had crossed the ceasefire line, heading for the Syrian village of Bir al-Ajam.

The Israeli military said a vehicle had been damaged by gunfire from Syria but no Israeli soldiers were hurt. Israeli troops returned fire after the incident, it said.

The incident was the latest on an increasingly fraught frontier where Syrian officials have reportedly threatened to unleash Palestinian guerrillas in response to Israeli airstrikes near Damascus and several UN peacekeepers have been abducted by rebels.

At least they openly admitted finally that they blatantly ignore the 1974 armistice by attacking an IDF jeep on the Golan, and that it was them and not the rebels doing the attacks.

I mean, do they honestly think anyone is buying a story as ridiculous as theirs? Sure, a single Israeli jeep decides to invade Syria alone and attack a village all by itself and they manage to destroy it, with no IDF casualties, vehicles, etc as evidence... These jokers just completely lack even a basic sense of logic.

So, just to end this nonsense once and for all, the IDF Spokesperson showed the video of the Syrian outpost firing in the IDF jeep in Israel three times before being destroyed in turn.

The annotations are as follows:
1)- First time Syrian outpost MG firing at the IDF jeep in Israel.
2)- Second time Syrian outpost MG firing at the IDF jeep in Israel.
3)- Third time Syrian outpost MG firing at the IDF jeep in Israel.
4)- SPIKE NLOS missile accurately hits and destroys the Syrian bunker that was firing at the IDF jeep.</description>

      <description>Al Arabiya

The rebel Free Syrian Army (FSA) held Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah personally responsible for the situation in the Syrian border town of Qusayr, as sectarian tension was on the rise in neighboring Lebanon.

&quot;We announced that Hassan Nasrallah will be held personally responsible for the current situation because he in person is meeting with all of   before they head to Qusayr,&quot; FSA spokesperson Louay Almokdad told Al Arabiya English. &quot;We are today calling Nasrallah a killer of the Syrian people.&quot;

Clashes between forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad - along with Lebanese ally Hezbollah - and the rebels raged into a second day Monday in the strategic town of Qusayr, which is between Damascus and the coast.

&quot;It has reached the audacity and extent of criminal behavior that Nasrallah met with 1,200 of his fighters in the southern suburbs   before they headed to  ,&quot; the FSA spokesperson said, adding the Hezbollah chief has distributed &quot;tokens of motivation on which Shiite slogans - Yatharat al-Hussein - were written to each of his fighters.&quot;

&quot;We are certain these are fighters of Hassan Nasrallah. They are no longer Hezbollah, they are fighters of Hassan Nasrallah and   Ali Khamanei.&quot;

However, the FSA spokesperson also said that, along with Hezbollah, were fighters from other Lebanese groups, including the Syrian Social Nationalist Party and the Baath Party.

The Syrian rebels have repeatedly warned that they will hit Hezbollah targets on Lebanese territory if the latter does not withdraw from Syria and have called on the Lebanese government to put a stop to Hezbollah intervention.

The Lebanese government: a state of paralysisHowever, according to Imad Salamey - a professor of International Affairs at the Lebanese American University in Beirut, the Lebanese government cannot do anything to stop the powerful Party of God.

&quot;The Lebanese government has been and continues to be in a state of paralysis, which mostly works in Hezbollah's interest,&quot; Salamey told Al Arabiya English on Monday. &quot;The government cannot stop Hezbollah, and the   army stopping Hezbollah from intervening in Syria will definitely not be the case.&quot;

&quot;Hezbollah is being dragged further into the Syrian conflict, and it is not going to end in Qusayr,&quot; he said, adding that the movement &quot;was dragging Lebanon into a civil war.&quot;

&quot;  involvement in the Syrian issue, no matter what the pretext, will only drag Lebanon into the conflict because the Lebanese are divided  .&quot;

At least three people were killed and 40 injured in two days of fighting in Lebanon's northern city of Tripoli, where an Alawite minority lives. Lebanese Sunnis mostly sympathize with the revolt against the government of Bashar al-Assad, whose minority Alawite sect is an offshoot of Shiite Islam.

      <title>'Myanmar must halt anti-Muslim violence'</title>

      <description>'Myanmar must halt anti-Muslim violence'
 US President Barack Obama has praised Myanmar President Thein Sein for leading his country toward political and economic reforms but expressed concern about the violence against Muslims in the country.

On Monday, the former general became the first Myanmar president to visit the White House in 47 years.

Sein, who was previously a member of the junta that ran the country, arrived in Washington on Saturday, six months after Obama made a historic visit to the Southeast Asian country that is also known as Burma.

He took office as a nominal civilian in 2011. His name was only deleted from a blacklist barring travel to the US last September.

Obama said US-Myanmar relations had improved because of &quot;the leadership that President Sein has shown in moving Myanmar down a path of both political and economic reform,&quot; AFP reported.

However, he expressed &quot;deep concern about communal violence that has been directed against Muslim communities inside Myanmar.&quot;
&quot;The displacement of people, the violence directed towards them needs to stop,&quot; Obama said.

Human rights activists have sharply criticized the Obama administration for inviting Thein Sein, saying the invitation was premature and reduces the pressure on Myanmar to address human rights violations.

The violence that originally targeted Rohingya Muslims in western Myanmar is beginning to spread to other parts of the country, where Muslims who have been granted citizenship are now being attacked, according to the website burmamuslims.org .

About 800,000 Rohingyas in the western state of Rakhine are deprived of citizenship rights due to the policy of discrimination that has denied them the right of citizenship and made them vulnerable to acts of violence and persecution, expulsion, and displacement.

The Myanmar government has so far refused to extricate the stateless Rohingyas from their citizenship limbo, despite international pressure to give them a legal status.

Rohingya Muslims have faced torture, neglect, and repression in Myanmar for many years.

Hundreds of Rohingyas are believed to have been killed and thousands displaced in recent attacks by extremists who call themselves Buddhists.

The extremists frequently attack Rohingyas and have set fire to their homes in several villages in Rakhine. Myanmar army forces allegedly provide the fanatics containers of petrol for torching the houses of Muslim villagers, who are then forced to flee.

Myanmar's government has been accused of failing to protect the Muslim minority.

Myanmar opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi has also come under fire for her stance on the violence. The Nobel Peace laureate has refused to censure the Myanmar military for its persecution of the Rohingyas.

Rohingyas are said to be Muslim descendants of Persian, Turkish, Bengali, and Pathan origin, who migrated to Myanmar as early as the 8th century.

Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have issued separate statements, calling on Myanmar to take action to protect the Rohingya Muslim population against extremists.

      <description>This short film presents direct evidence from the Boston Marathon bombing, revealing the true nature of the event. It explains and fully demonstrates that the FBI story presented is utterly and entirely false. It serves as a first basis for exposing media complicity in deliberately misrepresenting what happened. After watching this, you will never think about the Boston Marathon bombing, the FBI, or terrorism the same way again.

      <description>Nigerian soldiers have blocked roads out of a key northeastern city to deprive Boko Haram fighters of supplies in remote towns they control, the army has said.

The military said on Sunday that its offensive against the group, which followed a declaration of a state of emergency in three northeastern states, was aimed at re-establishing Nigeria's &quot;territorial integrity&quot;.

The assault on Boko Haram, which has said it wants to create an Islamic state, included air strikes on strongholds in remote parts of northeastern Borno state, and has spread to the state capital Maiduguri, the fighters' traditional home base.

Residents said on Sunday the base had been blockaded.

&quot;There is a huge build-up of trucks loaded with essential commodities... along the Baga road on the way out of Maiduguri to the northern part of the state,&quot; said Ibrahim Yahaya.

&quot;The drivers said they have been prevented by the military from going northward,&quot; he told the AFP news agency by email.

'Run out of supplies'

The phone network in Borno has all but collapsed since president Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday declared a state of emergency there and in two neighbouring states, Adamawa and Yobe.

Chris Olukolade, a defence spokesman, said in a statement on Saturday that fighters on the run were scrambling for key supplies like fuel. He urged residents to report anyone trying to buy large quantities of fuel.

The supply shortage has begun to bite in the town of Gomboru Ngala, on the border with Cameroon, where some Borno residents have fled to escape the air raids.

&quot;Trucks bringing in goods from Maiduguri have ceased since last week,&quot; said resident Grema Babagoni. He said the supply shortage has pushed prices up by as much as 25 percent.

&quot;If the blockade continues for some time we may completely run out of supplies,&quot; he told AFP.

On Saturday, the army declared a 24-hour curfew in a dozen neighbourhoods of Maiduguri, Boko Haram's stronghold.

The curfew in the main city in Borno state came as soldiers continued the government's emergency campaign against fighters in the region on Saturday.

A defence spokesman also said the military had seized stockpiles of weapons including rocket-propelled grenades, guns and ammunition from areas around Maiduguri.

Boko Haram has carried out scores of attacks in recent years, and has become emboldened and better armed in recent months.

      <description>Terrorist attacks on Turkish soil won't stop until the country's Prime Minister, Tayyip Erdogan, gives up on his support of rebel forces in Syria, British broadcaster, Neil Clark, told RT.

Turkish police have fired tear gas at protesters in a town near the Syrian border, which was the scene of a deadly double car bombing a week ago.

Demonstrators are angry over Ankara's support for the Syrian rebels, which they say is putting Turkey in the firing line.

World affairs journalist and broadcaster, Neil Clark, believes Erdogan must reconsider his policies and stop accusing the Syrian government of targeting the Hatay province, as it would've been an &quot;absolutely absurd&quot; move from Damascus.

      <title>Convicted Drug Dealer Could Get Death Penalty</title>

      <description>Jurors return to federal court in Philadelphia on Tuesday to hear arguments and evidence on whether a drug dealer convicted in the deaths of a dozen people should be sentenced to death or to life in prison without possibility of parole.

 The panel last week convicted 38-year-old Kaboni Savage of the slayings, including a 2004 firebombing that killed six relatives of a man who was planning to testify against him. Court officials said penalty phase proceedings scheduled for Monday would be delayed a day.

Authorities said that although Savage has mostly been in prison since 2003, he gave orders through phone calls and prison visits and communicated with other inmates through prison plumbing pipes.

His 30-year-old sister, Kidada Savage, faces life in prison after being convicted in the firebombing the killed the mother of the prospective witness as well as another woman and four children.

Kaboni Savage, a former boxer who has denied any role in the attacks, is serving a 30-year drug trafficking sentence. Defense attorneys portrayed him as a drug dealer but not a kingpin and attacked the credibility of prosecution witnesses.

Co-defendant Steven Northington was convicted of two counts of murder in aid of racketeering and could face the death penalty in penalty phase deliberations.

Another defendant, 32-year-old Robert Merritt, was convicted of racketeering conspiracy but acquitted of charges in the firebombing.

      <description>Justice minister Livni, Interior security minister Aharonovitch to bring before the cabinet initiative by which 'price tag' crimes be dubbed terroristic acts. The initiative is part of a larger shift intended to bolster police and Shin Bet action against &quot;price tag&quot; offenses against Palestinians and Arabs in general -

An initiative to change the legal standing of &quot;price tag&quot; attacks to that of an act of terror will be brought before the cabinet next week, according to a resolution devised by Justice Minister Tzipi Livni, Internal Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovich and representatives from the police and security forces.

The initiative is part of a larger shift intended to bolster police and Shin Bet action against &quot;price tag&quot; offenses in the West Bank and Israel.

In the State budget that was passed this week, Aharonovich managed to secure funds for some 50 additional police officers who will be enlisted to a special unit focused entirely on nationalistically-motivated crimes, aimed at battling the phenomenon of &quot;price tag&quot; offenses.

Minister Livni has recently met with several settlement representatives in order to gain support for the initiative.

Sources within the Internal Security Ministry stressed that the initiative's intent was to target nationalistic crimes of any kind, but that the main effort was to foil &quot;price tag&quot; acts executed by Jewish outlaws.

A source familiar with the details added that police and Shin Bet were interested in cooperating &quot;in order to prevent crimes of this sort and fight the phenomenon.&quot;

According to a formal statement issued by Livni's office Thursday, &quot;Minister Livni, Internal Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovich and Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein discussed nationalistically-motivated crimes today. Representatives from the State Prosecution, the IDF and Shin Bet also attended the meeting.&quot;

The statement added that the ministers and the attorney general fear that &quot;price tag&quot; offenses could harm the ties with Israeli Arabs.
