HATE cleric Abu Qatada is set to leave Britain by the summer after admitting defeat in his battle to remain here, an immigration court heard yesterday
The fundamentalist preacher is promising to return to Jordan to face terror charges when a fair-trial treaty comes into force.

Home Office lawyers yesterday revealed Jordanian lawmakers begin rubber stamping the deal today.

Campaigners welcomed the prospect of Qatada's exit, which will bring an end to a near 10-year battle that has cost Britain lb4million-plus.

Mali government to resume talks with Tuaregs

Talks will resume soon between the Malian government and an ethnic Tuareg rebel group whose influence has been growing in the country's north, Burkina Faso's foreign minister says.

No immediate date was given for the negotiations, announced on Monday, though the announcement comes amid lingering questions about the future of rebel-held Kidal.

It has remained unclear how the town could take part in long-awaited elections now promised for July.

Earlier this month, a Malian military spokesperson said the country was in the final stages of preparation for an assault on the northern provincial capital.

Djibril Bassole, the Burkina Faso foreign affairs minister, said that talks would soon resume.

The last negotiations were back in December before the French launched a military offensive to remove the ultraconservative armed groups who had battled with the Tuareg rebels for control of Kidal and other northern cities.

"In the days to come, contact will be made with all the players and partners from the international community so that favourable conditions can be set up for holding elections in a calm atmosphere with the participation of all," he said.

Those conditions must include the disarmament of rebels from the National Movement for the Liberation of the Azawad, or the MNLA.

Collecting taxes

MNLA, which controls Kidal, has exerted its influence in the months since the French-led offensive routed out the ultraconservative fighters from major towns in the region.

MNLA fighters man the roadblocks in Kidal, and they have since started collecting taxes and appointed their own governor, thumbing their nose at the Malian state even as French soldiers continue to occupy the Kidal airport.

Kidal's confused status has become an embarrassment for the French as well as for the Malian government.

Many Malians remain opposed to the idea of negotiating with the Tuaregs, blaming them for the unrest that has devastated the country's economy and forced hundreds of thousands to flee their homes.

A Tuareg rebellion last year and the Malian military's weak response to it first prompted mutinous soldiers to overthrow the president in a coup.

The turmoil allowed ultraconservatives to make inroads into the north, where they established a strict form of Islamic law that meted out public amputations and executions.

Tuaregs, though, remain deeply concerned about having the Malian military return to Kidal, fearing that the military could seek revenge after their humiliating defeat last year at the hands of the MNLA.

Reprisal killings

Already in Timbuktu, in Gao and in Sevare, the Malian army is accused of carrying out reprisal killings of Tuareg civilians accused of complicity with the rebels.

Bassole's comment on Monday came after he met Tiebele Drame, the newly appointed Malian envoy to Kidal, and Blaise Compaore, Burkina Faso president.

Compaore had served as a mediator in the Mali crisis for the West African regional bloc known as ECOWAS.

At talks held in Ouagadougou last December, the MNLA agreed to stop pursuing a separate state in Mali's north called Azawad.

The Tuaregs, a traditionally nomadic people spread across the Sahara Desert, have risen up against the central government in Mali several times since the country's independence from France in 1960.

They have long complained that Mali's government - which is dominated by ethnic groups from the country's south - has ignored the nation's impoverished north.

President Putin Backs Syria's New Front to Liberate Golan, CIA Chief Makes Emergency Visit to Israel

Events of the Last 48 hours:
- Russia's Pacific Fleet Enters The Mediterranean For First Time Since The Cold War.
-CIA chief John Brennan met Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon in an emergency unplanned meeting.
- USS Kearsarge, carrying 1,800 marines and a consignment of 20 V-22 Osprey helicopters, docks at the Israel's red sea port of Eilat.
-Rocket and mortar attack from Syria on Israeli positions in the Golan.
-Transfer of game changing weapons to Hezbollah from Syria.
-Eminent defeat of Israeli and NATO backed terrorists in Homs
-Buk, Pantsir and S-300 systems are now fully operational and online in Syria.
- Israel tries to bribe and appease China by lending them their new US delivered F35 jet fighters

On Tuesday, President Bashar Assad was quoted as saying the Golan will be the "front
line of resistance" after giving radical Palestinians under his wing
permission to install missiles there against Israel. Unidentified Syria
military sources vowed to attack the Israeli army vehicles crossing the
line to evacuate wounded terrorists in need of medical care.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Netanyahu ended
their three-hour meeting in Sochi Tuesday, May 14, at loggerheads on
Syria. In fact, Putin warned his guest that Israel and its army, the
IDF, were heading for war with Syria in which Russia might well be
involved - and not just through the advanced S-300 anti-air missiles
supplied to the Assad government. The case Netanyahu and Military
Intelligence chief Maj. Gen. Aviv Kochavi put before Putin and Russian
foreign intelligence chief, SVR Director Mikhail Fradkov, fell on deaf
ears.

The Israeli prime minister countered with a warning that Israel would
continue to strike advanced weapons in Syria that were destined for
Hizballah. And if President Bashar Assad hit back for Israel's May 5
bombardment of weapons stores on Mount Qassioun near Damascus, Israel
would intensify its bombardments of Syrian military targets and weapons
until Assad was left to fight off rebel assaults empty-handed.

Putin rejected this threat as implausible.

Neither Putin nor Netanyahu put all their cards on the table, but the
conversation ended with the Russian leader fully confident that his
capabilities for safeguarding Assad were greater than Israel's ability
to destroy him.

In the end, Netanyahu and his party arrived home Tuesday evening with
a bad feeling. They were certain that Moscow had given Assad the green
light to go through with his threat to make the Syrian Golan and the
Horan of southern Syria "a front for resistance" - i.e. the platforms
for embarking on a war of attrition against northern Israel with the
help of a flow of advanced weapons to Hizballah.

The Syrian ruler is strongly encouraged to adopt this path by Tehran.
Hizballah's leader Hassan Nasrallah has embraced it. And the radical
Palestinian leader, Ahmed Jibril, head of the Assad-satellite Popular
Front-General Command, has eagerly offered his services. And indeed, Wednesday, the day after Netanyahu's trip to Sochi,

Jibril's group let loose with mortar fire on the Israeli Mt. Hermon ski
site, firing from a Syrian army position.

Israeli military sources confirmed later that these were no stray
shells from a Syrian-army-rebel battle as in former cases, but a
deliberate attack. In Jerusalem, it was taken as a direct consequence of
Moscow's account to Assad of the conversation between the Russian and
Israeli leaders. They concluded that Assad took it for granted that he
was now at liberty to go on the offensive against Israel.

Wednesday night, Netanyahu's office reacted to this deterioration with a swift and strong warning.

Israeli media were informed bluntly that if the Assad chose to retaliate
for Israel's air strikes, he would be removed from power.

That same night, "a senior Israeli official" contacted The New York Times with
a more detailed warning quoted by the paper: "If Syrian President Assad
reacts by attacking Israel, or tries to strike Israel through his
terrorist proxies, he will risk forfeiting his regime, for Israel will
retaliate."

Within hours, early Thursday morning, May 16, Jerusalem had its answer from Damascus.

A Palestinian group calling itself "Martyrs of the Abdel Qader
al-Husseini Brigades" (named for the commander of a Palestinian force
fighting Israel in its 1948 War of Independence) claimed responsibility
for the "rockets" aimed at an Israeli military observation post in the
Golan Heights. They were fired in honor of Nakba Day, said the statement
released in Damascus "We are not celebrating but avenging the blood of
our martyrs."

A video showing the launch was appended .

Palestinian terrorist groups habitually use made-up names when claiming
attacks, a practice often followed by al Qaeda, but this one was easily
identified by Israel and taken to mean that Assad had begun using what
the Israeli official referred to in The New York Times as "his terrorist proxies."

Depending on the next move decided on by Prime Minister Netanyahu,
Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon and Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz,
this incident could mark the tipping-point of a slide towards a war
confrontation against Israel by Syria, Hizballah and other Assad
proxies.

Take It From the Rabbi's Mouth

Take It From the Rabbi's Mouth

Introduction by Gilad Atzmon

Every so often we come across a secular Jewish 'anti'
Zionist' who argues that Zionism is not Judaism and vice versa.
Interestingly enough, I have just come across an invaluable text that
illuminates this question from a rabbinical perspective. Apparently back
in 1942, 757 American Rabbis added their names to a public
pronouncement titled 'Zionism an Affirmation of Judaism'. This
Rabbinical rally for Zionism was declared at the time "the largest
public pronouncement in all Jewish history."
Today, we tend to believe that world Jewry's transition towards
support for Israel followed the 1967 war though some might argue that
already in 1948, American Jews manifested a growing support for Zionism.
However, this rabbinical pronouncement proves that as early as 1942,
the American Jewish religious establishment was already deeply Zionist.
And if this is not enough, the rabbis also regarded Zionism as the
'implementation' of Judaism. Seemingly, already then, the peak of World
War two, the overwhelming majority of American Rabbis regarded Zionism,
not only as fully consistent with Judaism, but as a "logical expression
and implementation of it."
In spite of the fact that early Zionist leaders were largely secular
and the East European Jewish settler waves were driven by Jewish
socialist ideology, the rabbis contend that "Zionism is not a secularist
movement. It has its origins and roots in the authoritative religious
texts of Judaism.
Those rabbis were not a bunch of ignoramuses. They were patriotic and
nationalistic and they grasped that "universalism is not a
contradiction of nationalism." The rabbis tried to differentiate between
contemporaneous German Nationalism and other national movements and
they definitely wanted to believe that Zionism was categorically
different to Nazism. "Nationalism as such, whether it be English,
French, American or Jewish, is not in itself evil. It is only
militaristic and chauvinistic nationalism, that nationalism which
shamelessly flouts all mandates of international morality, which is
evil." But as we know, just three years after the liberation of
Auschwitz the new Jewish State launched a devastating racially driven
ethnic-cleansing campaign. Zionism has proven to be militaristic and
chauvinistic.
Shockingly enough, back in 1942 as many as 757 American rabbis were
able to predict the outcome of the war and they realised that the
suffering of European Jewry would be translated into a Jewish State .
"We are not so bold as to predict the nature of the international order
which will emerge from the present war. It is altogether likely, and
indeed it may be desirable, that all sovereign states shall under the
coming peace surrender some of their sovereignty to achieve a just and
peaceful world society (a Jewish State)."
Some American patriots today are concerned with Israeli-American dual
nationality and the dual aspirations of American Jews. Apparently our
rabbis addressed this topic too. According to them, there is no such
conflict whatsoever. All American Jews are American patriots and all
American decision makers are Zionists. "Every fair-minded American knows
that American Jews have only one political allegiance-and that is to
America. There is nothing in Zionism to impair this loyalty. Zionism has
been endorsed in our generation by every President from Woodrow Wilson
to Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and has been approved by the Congress of
the United States. The noblest spirits in American life, statesmen,
scholars, writers, ministers and leaders of labor and industry, have
lent their sympathy and encouragement to the movement."
Back in 1942 our American rabbis were bold enough to state that
defeating Hitler was far from sufficient. For them, a full solution of
the Jewish question could only take place in Palestine. "Jews, and all
non-Jews who are sympathetically interested in the plight of Jewry,
should bear in mind that the defeat of Hitler will not of itself
normalize Jewish life in Europe. "
But there was one thing the American rabbis failed to mention - the
Palestinian people. For some reason, those rabbis who knew much about
'universalism' and in particular Jewish 'universalism' showed very
little concern to the people of the land. I guess that after all, chosennss is a form of blindness and rabbis probably know more about this than anyone else.

China's mysterious rocket launch

The ghost like appearance sparked UFO reports across southern China. The Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) said it was a rocket launch for aero-logical sounding, but that was a lie. US officials said it was actually an Anti-Satellite missile test.

China's military on Monday conducted the first test of a new ground-launched anti-satellite missile that was fired into space and disguised as a space-exploration rocket, according to U.S. officials.

The test was carried out early Monday from the Xichang Space Launch center and was identified by officials as the new Dong Ning-2 ASAT missile.

The ASAT test comes a week after China protested the release of the Pentagon's annual report on the Chinese military buildup that mentioned Beijing's development of anti-satellite weapons.

The Free Beacon first disclosed the existence of the new missile in October and a missile researcher reported in January that a new ASAT missile was being readied for its first test.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei was asked if China conducted an ASAT test during a briefing for reporters in Beijing on Tuesday. He did not deny that it was carried out.

"I am not aware of the development that you described," he said. "China has consistently advocated the peaceful use of outer space and is opposed to militarizing and conducting an arms race in outer space."

Pentagon spokeswoman Maj. Cathy Wilkinson said: "We don't have a comment on it as we don't discuss intelligence."

A U.S. official familiar with intelligence reports said the DN-2, as a high earth-orbit attack missile, is a significant advance for China's program of developing asymmetric warfare capabilities for use against the United States. Others include cyber-warfare capabilities and anti-ship ballistic missiles.

It could not be learned if the latest ASAT test involved an impact with a target satellite.

A second official said the Chinese apparently disguised the ASAT missile test as a space exploration experiment. The website of the National Space Science Center, part of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, reported Monday that a sounding rocket was used in a high-altitude scientific exploration test.

"This experiment used a high-altitude space-exploring rocket, Langmuir probe, high-energetic particle detectors, magnetometers and barium-powder release experimental apparatus and other payload of scientific exploration to test and measure the ionosphere, the high-energy particles and magnetic fields of the near-Earth space strength and structure," the notice said.

China in 2007 conducted its first successful hit-to-kill ASAT test against a weather satellite in low-earth orbit. The impact left tens of thousands of pieces of debris in orbit that continue to threaten both manned and unmanned spacecraft.

Defense officials have said China's ASAT weapons, including missile interceptors, lasers, and electronic jammers, are designed to disrupt satellite communications and navigation systems used extensively by the U.S. military in conducting joint warfare.

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel stated in written answers to questions during his confirmation hearing in January that the United States would seek to avoid engaging in hostilities in space.

However, Hagel revealed that U.S. space policy calls for "the secretary of defense to develop capabilities, plans and options to deter, defend against, and, if necessary, defeat efforts to interfere with or attack U.S. or allied space systems."

The statement was the clearest indication that the Pentagon is preparing to develop "counterspace" weapons in response to Chinese anti-satellite weapons.

"The chances are good this is indeed an ASAT test as it was launched from the Xichang Space Launch Center, the same launch site used for the January 2007 successful SC-19 ASAT interception of a Chinese weather satellite," said Rick Fisher, a senior fellow at the International Assessment and Strategy Center. Xichang is located in southern Sichuan Province.

Fisher said Chinese Internet reports stated that the ASAT test of what U.S. official say was a DN-2 may have up to four stages and included one or two liquid-fueled upper stages to provide greater thrust as the missile closed in on a target.

"While there so far has been no report of a successful interception, even a very near miss would serve to validate this new ASAT system," Fisher said.

A validated DN-2 ASAT system would provide the Chinese military with the capability to "degrade or severely damage the U.S. Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) system," he said.

"This is not merely a threat against some American military satellites, but a threat to a what has become a vital part of the global electronic infrastructure, affecting global commerce and financial flows, to your personal finances that contribute to personal freedom."

Fisher said China has been "preaching" that other states should disarm while Beijing secretly builds space weaponry at the same time it has denied being engaged in the space arms buildup.

"In the face of such a threat, the United States simply has no choice but to pursue symmetric capabilities to deter Chinese attacks in space, but also to consider its own requirements for space superiority," he said.

The major concern for Pentagon war planners is that China, with an arsenal of around two dozen anti-satellite missiles, could severely disrupt U.S. command-and-control systems, intelligence-gathering satellites, and navigation satellites used to guide precision guided missiles.

Security analyst Gregory Kulacki said in an online posting in January that the ASAT test was expected as early as that month.

"Given these high-level administration concerns and past Chinese practice, there seems to be a strong possibility China will conduct an ASAT test within the next few weeks," Kulacki, a Chinese-language speaker with the Union of Concerned Scientists stated.

Defense officials disclosed to the Free Beacon that the DN-2 test was initially planned for last fall, but was delayed by the Chinese over concerns that the test would upset President Barack Obama's reelection bid.

While details of the DN-2 are not known, U.S. officials said it is expected to be a high earth-orbit interceptor capable of destroying strategic navigation, communication, or intelligence satellites by ramming into them at high speeds.

The DN-2 is said to be capable of hitting targets in high-earth orbit between 12,000 and 22,236 miles above earth. Many military, intelligence, and commercial satellites orbit at that altitude.

A Pentagon-State Department report to Congress last year on export controls stated that in addition to ground-launched ASAT missiles, China is building high-technology kinetic and direct energy weapons for ASAT use.

Disarming Realities: As Gun Sales Soar, Gun Crimes Plummet

Larry Bell, Contributor

A couple of new studies reveal the gun-control hypesters' worst
nightmare...more people are buying firearms, while firearm-related
homicides and suicides are steadily diminishing. What crackpots came up
with these conclusions? One set of statistics was compiled by the U.S.
Department of Justice. The other was reported by the Pew Research
Center.

According to DOJ's Bureau of Justice Statistics, U.S. gun-related
homicides dropped 39 percent over the course of 18 years, from 18,253
during 1993, to 11,101 in 2011. During the same period, non-fatal
firearm crimes decreased even more, a whopping 69 percent. The majority
of those declines in both categories occurred during the first 10 years
of that time frame. Firearm homicides declined from 1993 to 1999, rose
through 2006, and then declined again through 2011. Non-fatal firearm
violence declined from 1993 through 2004, then fluctuated in the
mid-to-late 2000s.

And where did the bad people who did the shooting get most of their
guns? Were those gun show "loopholes" responsible? Nope. According to
surveys DOJ conducted of state prison inmates during 2004 (the most
recent year of data available), only two percent who owned a gun at the
time of their offense bought it at either a gun show or flea market.
About 10 percent said they purchased their gun from a retail shop or
pawnshop, 37 percent obtained it from family or friends, and another 40
percent obtained it from an illegal source.

While firearm violence accounted for about 70 percent of all homicides
between 1993 and 2011, guns were used in less than 10 percent of all
non-fatal violent crimes. Between 70 percent and 80 percent of those
firearm homicides involved a handgun, and 90 percent of non-fatal
firearm victimizations were committed with a handgun. Males, blacks, and
persons aged 18-24 had the highest firearm homicide rates.

The March Pew study, drawn from numbers obtained from the Bureau of
Justice Statistics and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, also
found a dramatic drop in gun crime over the past two decades. Their
accounting shows a 49 percent decline in the homicide rate, and a 75
percent decline of non-fatal violent crime victimization. More than 8 in
10 gun homicide victims in 2010 were men and boys. Fifty-five percent
of the homicide victims were black, far beyond their 13 percent share of
the population.

Pew researchers observed that the huge amount of attention devoted to
gun violence incidents in the media has caused most Americans to be
unaware that gun crime is "strikingly down" from 20 years ago. In fact,
gun-related homicides in the late 2000s were "equal to those not seen
since the early 1960s." Yet their survey found that 56 percent believed
gun-related crime is higher, 26 percent believed it stayed about the
same, and 6 percent didn't know. Only 12 percent of those polled
thought it was lower.

The Pew survey found that while women and elderly were actually less
likely to become crime victims, they were more likely to believe gun
crime had increased in recent years. On the other hand, men, who were
more likely to become victims, were more likely know that the gun rate
had dropped.

Those gun crime rates certainly aren't diminishing for lack of supply...at
least not for law-abiding legal buyers. Last December, the FBI recorded
a record number of 2.78 million background checks for purchases that
month, surpassing a 2.01 million mark set the month before by about 39
percent. That December 2012 figure, in turn, was up 49 percent from a
previous record on that month the year before. FBI checks for all of
2012 totaled 19.6 million, an annual record, and an increase of 19
percent over 2011.

Firearms sellers can thank the gun-control legislation lobbies for much
of this business windfall. Marked demand increases have been witnessed
over the past five years thanks to the 2008 and 2012 elections of U.S.
history's most successful, if unintentional, gun salesman as president.
The firearms market got a huge added boost after the tragic shootings at
Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newton, Connecticut activated a renewed
legislative frenzy.

If that gun-purchasing fervor has abated with the defeat of several
congressional regulation proposals, as I'm sure it has, you surely
wouldn't have known it by witnessing the overwhelmingly enormous annual
NRA convention in Houston earlier this month. Attendance was estimated
to be more than 70,000 people from all over the country.

Those attendees weren't all guys either...not by a long shot. Last year,
the National Shooting Sports Foundation reported that participation by
women increased both in target shooting (46.5%) and hunting (36.6%) over
the past decade. Also, 61% of firearm retailers responding to a NSSF
survey reported an increase in female customers. A 2009 NSSF survey
indicated that the number of women purchasing guns for personal defense
increased a whopping 83 percent.

Is John Lott, the author of "More Guns, Less Crime" right? Does the
rapid growth of gun ownership and armed citizens have anything to do
with a diminishing gun violence trend? His expansive research concludes
that state "shall issue" laws which allow citizens to carry concealed
weapons do produce a steady decrease in violent crime. He explains that
this is logical because criminals are deterred by the risk of attacking
an armed target, so as more citizens arm themselves, danger to the
criminals increases.

Whether or not you buy that reasoning, and it does make sense to me,
what about the notion that tougher gun laws have or would make any
difference? With the toughest gun laws in the nation, Chicago saw
homicides jump to 513 in 2012, a 15% hike in a single year. The city's
murder rate is 15.65 per 100,000 people, compared with 4.5 for the
Midwest, and 5.6 for Illinois.

Up to 80 percent of Chicago murders and non-fatal shootings are gang-
related, primarily young black and Hispanic men killed by other black
and Hispanic men. Would tightening gun laws even more, or "requiring"
background checks, change these conditions?

Gwainevere Catchings Hess, president of the Black Women's Agenda (BWA),
Inc., an organization that strongly advocates strict gun-control
legislation, rightly points out that "In 2009, black males ages 15-19
were eight times as likely as white males the same age, and 2.5 times as
likely as their Hispanic peers to be killed in a gun homicide."

Those are terrible statistics, but here are some others. Today, 72% of
black children are born out of wedlock, as are 53% of Hispanic children
and 36% of white children. Back in 1965, 25% of black children were born
out of wedlock, nearly one-third fewer. As a result, promiscuous
rappers, prosperous dope peddlers and street gang leaders are becoming
ever more influential role models. It's probably no big stretch of
imagination to correlate such grossly disproportionate crime and
victimization rates with comparably staggering rates of single-parent
families, those without fathers in particular.

Yet in the general population, and although the agenda-driven media
hasn't noticed, we can be grateful that gun violence has been trending
downward since 1993 when it hit its last peak. Don't want to credit a
rise in gun ownership and concealed carry by law-abiding citizens for
this good news? Fine. But then, don't imagine that gun legislation is
the reason or answer either. Leave that illusion to gun-control
cheerleaders in the media.

Ariel Castro, Cleveland Kidnapper, Rapist, Child Killer.... Is a Registered Democrat

Ariel Castro, Cleveland Kidnapper, Is a Registered Democrat

    By Oleg Atbashian .

      May 13, 2013

According to voter registration records, Ariel Castro, the
Cleveland kidnapper, is a registered Democrat. He was also the alleged
leader among the three Castro brothers, who were arrested this week, and
the owner of the house at 2207 Seymour Ave., where the three abducted
local women had been kept in captivity for over a decade.

Why is this important? Whenever a crime or a scandal captures
national attention, the pattern in the mainstream media is to either
identify the culprit as a Republican or hold silence -- in which case we
can rest assured that the culprit is a Democrat.

When the identity or the party affiliation is yet unknown, the
pattern is to speculate publicly about the possibility of the criminal
being a conservative, Christian, white, Republican, and a Tea Party
member -- and never that he could be a Hispanic Democrat voter playing
bass in a meringue band.

In today's divisive climate, the identity of a perpetrator is always a
political issue, especially when a crime is committed by men against
women. According to the Daily News , "What the neighbors saw was
terrifying and dehumanizing: Naked women on dog leashes, crawling in
the dirt. A lady clutching an infant and pounding on a window for help."

If any of the brothers were a Republican, this news would have been
trumpeted by the mainstream media as tangible proof of the Republican
War on Women -- a narrative invented by Democrat strategists and
maintained by the media in a successful effort to defeat Republican
candidates in the 2012 election cycle.

However, when a real act of war on women is perpetrated by a Democrat
voter in the manner that even the most zealous Democrat strategist
couldn't have dreamed up in their worst nightmares -- involving
abduction, imprisonment, rape, torture, malnutrition, beatings while
pregnant, and killing babies -- the media doesn't think the party
affiliation is relevant.

I'm not saying that in this case it is. What's relevant is the
relentless media bias, taunting, and bullying of conservatives and
Republicans.

Unhappy with the overall media coverage, one of our readers decided
to do his own research of the Castro brothers' party affiliation and
contacted this author with his findings with this note:

I couldn't find anything on their political views in the newspapers,
which is a sign they are NOT Republicans. I then searched public
nation-wide voter registration records and found this giant file. It's
now official: the Cleveland kidnapper is a registered Democrat. This
answers the question, which side actually 'wants women barefoot,
illiterate, and pregnant'.

Another good question is, what had prompted this reader to even think
about doing this research? Apparently, he is one of many Republicans
whom the continued media slander is causing to constantly look over his
shoulder and, at any sign of trouble, check whether the guilty could be
Republicans, and sigh with relief when they aren't.

It isn't a symptom of a healthy nation when a large segment of the
country's population, including men and women of all colors and ethnic
backgrounds, is being systematically and unfairly defamed and pestered
by another segment of the country with the help of the media and the
political establishment, creating a hostile cultural and work
environment, which leads to persistent feelings of worry, unease,
frustration, and fear.

Perhaps it's time to expand the dictionary definition of harassment as follows:

POLITICAL HARASSMENT: systematic and continued
tormenting of one party or a group, including insults, slurs, and
demands intended to disturb, upset, and demoralize political opponents.
The purposes may include prejudice, personal malice, attempts to apply
pressure on Congress to pass a bill, force someone to resign or to grant
political favors, blackmail ( I'll out you to the boss unless you change your stand on certain issues ), or merely sadistic pleasure from making someone fearful or anxious.

In a way, the Democrat political machine, which includes the
mainstream media, are trying to do to the Republicans and the rest of
the country what the Castro brothers did to the women they abducted and
forcibly put in their "care."

That's why the news that Ariel Castro is a Democrat may be relevant after all.

Rather interesting speech by Adolf Hitler on the defeat of Poland, instead of his typical rhetoric banter as we see on the History or Discovery channel, he seems to really make clear points. No wonder rooms in Germany went silent when he walked in. He certainly was a charismatic speaker. I in no way support Hitler or his policies, this is mainly for historic purposes.

Gore Is Romney-Rich With $200 Million After Bush Defeat

By Ken Wells & Ari Levy - May 6, 2013 12:01 AM ET

In 1999, Al Gore, then U.S. vice president and a Democratic candidate for president, sold $6,000 worth of cows. The former senator, who spent most of his working life in Congress, had a net worth of about $1.7 million and assets that included pasture rents from a family farm and royalties from a zinc mine, remnants of his rural roots in Carthage, Tennessee . Funds from the cattle sale went to three of his kids, according to federal disclosure forms filed as part of his presidential run.

Fourteen years later, he made an estimated $100 million in a single month. In January, the Current TV network, which he helped to start in 2004, was sold to Qatari-owned Al Jazeera Satellite Network for about $500 million. After debt, he grossed an estimated $70 million for his 20 percent stake, according to people familiar with the transaction.

Two weeks later, Gore exercised options, at $7.48 a share, on 59,000 shares of Apple Inc. stock that he'd been granted for serving on the Cupertino, California-based company's board since 2003. On paper, it was about a $30 million payday based on the company's share price on the day he claimed the options.

That's a pretty good January for a guy who couldn't yet call himself a multimillionaire when he briefly slipped from public life after his bitterly contested presidential election loss to George W. Bush in late 2000, based on 1999 and 2000 disclosure forms.

Gore isn't finished exercising his Apple stock grants. Those 59,000 are part of 101,358 Apple options and shares of restricted stock Gore has amassed, according to company filings, giving his total holdings a gross value of more than $45.6 million today.

Nobel PrizeAlbert Arnold Gore Jr., 65, is a lot of things to a lot of people. Among friends and fans, he's the progressive Democrat who should have been president, visionary author and Internet prophet, the man who more than anyone drove climate change to the center of public consciousness.

Detractors see Gore as a limousine liberal, tiresome pedant and climate alarmist who lives a jet-setting, carbon-profligate lifestyle while preaching asceticism for everyone else.

His work and writing on global warming have earned him a share of a Nobel Prize as well as a South Park cartoon parody in which he tries to scare school kids to his beliefs with a fictitious global-warming surrogate monster known as ManBearPig.

Whatever you think of Gore, one thing is indisputable: leveraging his aura as a technology seer and his political and climate work connections, Gore has remade himself into a wealthy businessman, amassing a fortune that may exceed $200 million.

Romney WealthThat's close to the $250 million net worth of 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney , whom President Barack Obama and Democrats targeted in ads and speeches as being out of touch with most Americans.

Gore declined to be interviewed for this story. Estimates of his wealth are based on company filings, government records, public pronouncements he or his associates have made about past business dealings and interviews with people in a position to know of and evaluate Gore's holdings.

How Gore achieved this is as much about timing and luck as it is about business skills. His Apple board tenure has coincided with a 5,900 percent increase in its stock price. Current TV was a moribund "fixer-upper" when Al Jazeera stepped in to buy it at "a huge valuation," said Derek Baine, an SNL Kagan cable analyst in Monterey, California .

Gore also had his share of flubs, most of them in his efforts at green-tech investing. An investment firm he helped to start took stakes in two carbon-trading firms that fizzled and also racked up tens of millions in losses in a solar-module maker.

Diving InThe wealth accumulation attests to Gore's ability, particularly among technology companies and rich political progressives, to attract moneyed and skilled people to do deals with him or seek his paid counsel.

This may be in part because Gore, by reputation, shuns figurehead appointments for real ones. One example: At Apple's request, he dove into an options backdating scandal, which predated his arrival, chairing a 2006 committee that recommended revisions to company policies.

"It doesn't surprise me," Reed Hundt, a Gore high-school friend, said of his business success.

Hundt, whom Gore helped get appointed to run Bill Clinton's Federal Communications Commission in 1993, didn't detect a business gene in young Al back in their days at Washington 's private St. Albans School.

Gore went on to graduate with a degree in government from Harvard University, dabble in journalism and study but never graduate from law school at Vanderbilt University. Instead, he quit to run for public office.

'Going Places'Still, says Hundt, "it was clear that Al was smart and was going places."

Gore hasn't tried to hide his prosperity. Back in 2000, about $750,000 of his net worth was tied to two homes he and his then-wife Tipper owned in Virginia and Tennessee.

Most of the rest had been recently inherited, including an undisclosed number of shares of Occidental Petroleum Corp. left to him by his late father, Senator Albert Gore Sr., and valued at between $500,000 and $1 million, according to disclosure forms.

He's moved up the housing ladder since then. He owns a 20- room, 10,000-square-foot antebellum mansion in Nashville's wealthy Belle Meade neighborhood that's mostly shrouded from view by a thicket of Southern foliage and a massive iron gate. In 2010 -- weeks before the Gores announced they were dissolving their 40-year marriage -- he purchased an oceanfront six- bedroom, $8.9 million villa in Montecito, California, where Oprah Winfrey and Kirk Douglas have lived.

Utility BillIt isn't clear how the divorce affects Gore's net worth. No settlement has ever been published and Betsy McManus, Al Gore's director of communications, declined to comment on it.

Such lavish living isn't lost on Gore's critics. In 2007, the Tennessee Center for Policy Research, using a public records request, published Gore's Nashville home utility bill, showing it used almost 221,000 kilowatt-hours in 2006 -- 20 times the national average household consumption. Gore's people dismissed the revelation.

His ascent into America's 1 percent happened quickly. After losing to Bush, he had enough wealth by March 2008 to put $35 million into hedge funds and private partnerships through Capricorn Investment Group, a Palo Alto, California-based company, according to U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission documents.

The investment company was founded by his buddy, Canadian billionaire Jeffrey Skoll, who amassed a large part of his fortune in shares he was awarded as the first president of EBay Inc.

Book ProfitsHis best-selling climate books, "Earth in the Balance," "An Inconvenient Truth" and "The Assault on Reason," haven't contributed to his wealth. Gore has long pledged any book and film money to his nonprofit, the Climate Reality Project, created in 2011 from two advocacy groups Gore founded a year earlier.

By the time of the Capricorn investment, he was already starting to rake in cash from Generation Investment Management - - a fund that incorporates "sustainability" into its investment approach. Gore co-founded GIM in 2004 with former Goldman Sachs Group Inc. Managing Director David W. Blood.

Public filings show that in 2008 through 2011 London-based GIM racked up almost 140 million pounds ($218 million) in profits to be split among its 26 partners.

Gore and Blood as founders are thought to have the largest equity stakes. GIM doesn't disclose partnership equity or how the partners split profits, said Richard Campbell, a spokesman.

Prosperous EnterprisesGore had a string of connections and invitations to join what would turn out to be prosperous enterprises. Skoll's Participant Media produced the 2006 Oscar-winning documentary, "An Inconvenient Truth," based on Gore's climate work. The movie was pivotal in helping him win his share of the 2007 Nobel and claim speaker fees at $175,000 a pop.

Prior to being invited to join Apple's board, Gore was tapped as a senior adviser to Google Inc. (GOOG) before its 2004 initial public offering and at a time when it was not yet a household word. Google won't discuss his duties or compensation though some in Silicon Valley believe his pay there may be as rich as his Apple remuneration, which that company is required to disclose because he's a director.

Kleiner PerkinsBlood joined with Gore after he was among the original 221 Goldman partners who got shares in that company's 1999 IPO. Blood's 0.66 percent stake, based on valuations at the time, was thought to be worth about $100 million.

Blood lived with his family in Brazil as a youngster and has said he was distressed by the extreme poverty there. Gore's notion of "sustainable capitalism" appealed to Blood, who also declined to be interviewed for this story.

In November 2007, GIM announced a partnership with Silicon Valley venture capital company Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, to join its green-investing efforts. The goal, according to a joint press release at the time, was to create "a global collaboration to find, fund and accelerate green business, technology and policy solutions with the greatest potential to help solve the current climate crisis."

Gore was made a partner at Kleiner Perkins and John Doerr, an early investor in Amazon.com Inc., Intuit Inc. and Google, joined GIM's advisory board. At Kleiner Perkins, Gore helps with investment strategies and selectively advises companies but doesn't lead deals or take board seats on startups the firm invests in. Kleiner Perkins declined to discuss his compensation.

Green BlemishesInvesting on behalf of its clients, GIM has put $50 million to $100 million in KPCB's $1 billion green growth fund, according to two people with knowledge of the amount who asked not to be identified because they aren't authorized to speak about it.

While Kleiner Perkins doesn't publish fund results, its green fund hasn't had unblemished success.

Along with potential winners like Bloom Energy, a fuel-cell maker, and Nest Labs Inc., a thermostat company, Kleiner Perkins also backed Miasole Inc., a solar-panel maker that was bought for a reported $30 million after raising at least $494 million from investors, and Fisker Automotive Inc., the electric-car maker that fired three-quarters of its staff last month.

Well VersedGore earns his keep in Silicon Valley beyond simply attending the annual holiday party. He's made himself available to a number of technology companies that got startup help from Kleiner Perkins. Andrew Fisher, chairman of Shazam Entertainment Ltd., a mobile music app maker backed by Kleiner Perkins, said Gore flew to London two years ago and agreed to be interviewed on stage in front of about 200 company employees and business partners.

Gore's preparation was first rate and it was clear that "he's tremendously well-versed" in Kleiner Perkins's investments, Fisher said. At the presentation, "he talked about his work around the environment, leadership in small companies, decision making, sitting on the board of Apple. People were fascinated with his insight."

Gore paid a similar visit last year to a recycling plant in Vancouver run by Harvest Power Inc., one of Kleiner Perkins's clean-tech companies.

Shopkick VisitEric Feng, former Hulu LLC chief technology officer and ex- Kleiner Perkins employee, described Gore as an energized and active participant in investment decisions who is "very well- respected among the partners." He's regularly asked for feedback on investments and is considered "a very valuable resource," Feng said.

Shopkick Inc. Chief Executive Officer and co-founder Cyriac Roeding met Gore about two years ago at Kleiner Perkins. As a guru on climate change, Roeding figured Gore was unlikely to have much interest in Shopkick's technology, which helps retailers target customers with discounts.

"I took a photo with him because I thought I'd never see him again," Roeding says.

He was wrong. In February 2012, Gore joined Roeding at the Village Pub in Silicon Valley -- the same place where Mark Zuckerberg was famously courted by Accel Partners' Jim Breyer -- for an intimate event with about 35 executives from top retailers like Macy's Inc., Crate & Barrel and Target Corp. In a fireside chat, Gore answered every question Roeding threw his way and showed a deep knowledge of Shopkick's market.

Internet Invention"I had not planned on talking about Shopkick, but he just kept coming back to it," Roeding says. "He talked about how the future of the physical world is converging with the digital world."

They love Al Gore in Silicon Valley and why shouldn't they? Gore never claimed, as some conservative critics have asserted, to have invented the Internet.

Still, as a Tennessee congressman and senator, he was the first national politician to see how personal computers connected to a system he popularized as the "information superhighway" would radically change the social and commercial landscape of the U.S. and the world.

He drafted the Performance Computing Act of 1991, often called the Gore Bill, which led to funding to build the system that later became the Internet.

Luck and TimingNone of this was lost on Apple when, in March 2003, Steve Jobs personally asked Gore to join the board. An Apple press release about the appointment was a techie love fest. "Al is an avid Mac user and does his own video editing in Final Cut Pro," Jobs said.

Apple was trading at about $7.50 a share when Gore accepted the Apple board seat. The company's stock closed at $449.98 on May 3 in New York. The escalation of his options alone would have made him rich.

Gore's profiting from the Al Jazeera sale is another example of luck, timing or both. Gore and partners that included Los Angeles billionaire Ron Burkle, Hyatt Legal Services founder Joel Hyatt and San Francisco money manager Richard Blum bought the predecessor company for $70 million in 2004.

Re-launched as Current TV, Gore said at the time he wanted to create a "transformational" network. It would, like YouTube, thrive on youthful viewer input, be an antidote to Fox News and a liberal competitor to MSNBC .

Olbermann SuitInstead, Current failed to make much of an impact at all while Gore was paying himself $1.2 million a year in salary and bonuses, according to 2008 SEC documents filed as part of a proposed public offering that was later withdrawn. Meanwhile, Time Warner Cable Inc., which carried the network and accounted for about 9 million of its subscribers, made noises about dropping Current from its listings along with other "low- rated" networks.

In 2011, Current attempted to remake itself by bringing in Keith Olbermann, the former anchor of MSNBC's Countdown program. The relationship quickly devolved into a public relations disaster. Olbermann, who had signed what was reported to be a five-year, $50 million contract, was fired in March 2012. Accusations and lawsuits flew.

Current, in an April 6, 2012, breach-of-contract suit in Los Angeles County Superior Court, accused Olbermann of waging a campaign to "undermine" the network by, among other things, taking unauthorized days off, leaking the terms of his contract to the media and failing to lead Current's 2012 primary election coverage as he was asked to do.

'Immediate Interest'Olbermann, in his own lawsuit, painted an ugly picture of the Gore-anointed management team. Current, while promising to deliver "a high-caliber political commentary show," turned out to be amateur hour with Gore and co-founder Hyatt "no more than dilettantes portraying entertainment industry executives."

Olbermann had asked the court to award him as much as $70 million. The two parties reached a settlement in March for terms that weren't disclosed.

The sale to Al Jazeera drew a lawsuit from media consultant John Terenzio who said putting the two networks in touch was his idea and he's owed money.

Terenzio said he sent an intermediary to see Current investor Richard Blum under a supposition that "in light of Current's well-publicized financial woes, its principals might be interested in selling the struggling network."

Blum, according to the lawsuit, "expressed immediate interest" in hearing Terenzio's proposal, explaining that "he and other Current investors were concerned about the prospect of losing their shirt in financially troubled Current." Blum, Al Jazeera and Current declined to comment on the lawsuit.

'Mogul Al'The transaction also raised eyebrows because Gore, who has for years inveighed against fossil fuels and their role in climate change, sold the network to a company funded in part by oil-rich Qatar. Jon Stewart, host of the Daily Show television program, asked in January, "Can mogul Al Gore coexist with activist Al Gore?"

Gore defended the sale on the grounds that, among other things, Al Jazeera has "the highest quality, most extensive, best climate coverage of any network in the world." It's a position Gore's been forced to defend repeatedly along the tour for his latest book "The Future: the Six Drivers of Global Change."

Cable TV analysts, meanwhile, were abuzz over the $500 million payout. Current had been seeking buyers for a while, aware that Time Warner might soon pull the plug, but had not found any takers until Al Jazeera stepped forward.

'High Price'"It seems like a really high price to me," SNL's Baine said. "It's hard to sell a fixer-upper. From the beginning Current had a programming strategy that hadn't worked and they changed it over and over and it still didn't work. Honestly, not a lot of people had ever heard of it."

Al Jazeera might have been desperate enough to get into the U.S. market to pay that kind of a premium since it's still cheaper to buy a network than it is to build one from scratch, he said.

"To be locked out of one of the world's biggest markets is a problem for them," Blaine said. Al Jazeera, while declining to comment on the price, has said it intends to hire about 100 journalists in New York and Washington for its rebranded channel.

The deal had no sooner been announced than Time Warner Cable said it was in fact pulling the plug on Current "as quickly as possible" and wouldn't carry the rebranded Al Jazeera channel over its U.S. distribution system.

Meanwhile, Gore's "sustainable" GIM investing company has seen its philosophy of buying stocks and holding for the long term tested at times.

Blood and GoreBlood and Gore, as the company is sometimes known, eschews "the dominance of short-termism in the market" which "fosters general market instability and undermines the efforts of executives seeking long-term value creation," the two men wrote in an 2011 op-end in the Wall Street Journal.

GIM's roster of publicly traded U.S. holdings include successful, albeit not particularly green, companies like Amazon, EBay, Procter & Gamble Co. and Colgate-Palmolive Co. A few of the others would count in GIM parlance as green or at least sustainable investments, such as Solarcity Corp., a rooftop solar installer, and Blackbaud Inc., a software maker that helps nonprofits raise money.

Green InvestingGIM has assets under management of about $8.5 billion. Its investment strategy and returns have been impressive enough that Britain's Environment Agency asked it to manage 7.2 percent of its 1.6 billion-pound investment portfolio through 2014. That's up from 4.8 percent in 2009, according to documents filed with Britain's securities regulator.

At times the company's green investing approach hasn't worked. In 2008, with optimism that a Democrat-controlled Congress would establish carbon controls and an international climate treaty would be extended, GIM bought a 9.6 percent stake, in Camco International Ltd., a manager of projects that reduce greenhouse gases.

By early 2010, GIM had upped its stake in the company now known as Camco Clean Energy Plc to 18.6 percent, according to documents. By October of that year, with Republicans in the House saying no to climate legislation and Kyoto Protocol talks stalled, shares in Camco were taking a beating. GIM dumped its stake. Neither company would comment on GIM's actions.

Climate ExchangeIn another instance, GIM took a 10 percent stake in the Chicago Climate Exchange, set up in 2003 by former derivatives guru Richard Sandor to take advantage of what the exchange's founders hoped would be a government-mandated price on carbon. The exchange ran into the same headwinds as Camco and was sold to Atlanta-based IntercontinentalExchange Inc. in May 2010 for $581 million. It was later shut as carbon prices fell to all- time lows.

GIM would only say that neither Camco nor Chicago Climate Exchange were profitable investments.

If emissions limits had been approved by Congress, both Camco and the exchange stood to rake in huge profits, said Dan Kish, vice president for policy with the Washington-based Institute for Energy Research, which gets funding from oil and natural gas companies.

"Al Gore is like the preacher touting his moral purity and superiority," Kish said. "Yet it turns out that heeding his preachings is directly linked to his financial interests."

Besides its losing investments in Camco and Chicago Climate Exchange, GIM also bailed out of First Solar Inc., a solar-panel maker that, like bankrupt Solyndra LLC, got squeezed when cheap Chinese supplies began hitting the market in late 2010.

Democracy 'Hacked'According to SEC filings, GIM first began buying First Solar at $113 a share in the third quarter of 2010. GIM continued its buying for several more quarters even as the shares lost luster. When it was clear First Solar was truly tanking, GIM dumped its last lot in the second quarter of 2012.

It's accumulated loss was $165.9 million, according to a Bloomberg calculation based on SEC filings.

Gore said in a May 1 interview with Bloomberg Television that American democracy has been "hacked" by the influence of money in politics and that he hopes activist investors will continue to exert influence on corporations globally to act in a responsible way.

During a 2009 House hearing, Tennessee Republican Representative Marsha Blackburn tackled Gore on the issue of whether he had become a "climate profiteer" by betting on companies that might hugely benefit from his advocacy. Gore's response: "Congresswoman, if you believe that the reason I have been working on this issue for 30 years is because of greed, you don't know me."
