At least eight people were killed in the attack including, civilians, guards, and Taliban militants. In the southeastern province of Ghazni on May 24, a blast killed at least eight people at a mosque during evening prayers. Local authorities said the explosion was caused by the accidental detonation of explosives being transported by Taliban fighters. The militants had stopped at the mosque to offer prayers. The al-Qaeda inmate, Fahed Bakr Housawy, sought to escape from the prison but a police officer was able to control and prevent him, sources told al-Arabiya. The sources said the prisoner was held over terrorism related charges in Saudi Arabia and Nigeria, and that he had met Osama bin Laden and pledged allegiance to him. Housawy, 42, was stripped of his Saudi citizenship after being convicted of terrorism. He studied to the seventh grade and lived with his family in a Nigerian majority neighborhood in Taef. He worked as a driver then a plumber in two government agencies for about six years before becoming a freelance interpreter with al-Taef police. He is suspected to have been dragged into terrorism by one of his brothers who had previously fought in Afghanistan. Michael Adebolajo listened to Journey of the Soul after Death, possibly expecting to be killed after Lee's grisly murder. The tape was inside a battered orange Peugeot 106 Adebolajo had desperately been trying to sell for as little as lb125 in the days leading up to the attack. He was shot by officers after the atrocity in Woolwich but survived. He and fellow suspect Michael Adebowale were in a stable condition under armed guard in hospital last night. He had been trying to convince a male neighbour of Blessing to buy the car for lb125 just days before the attack. The neighbour, who did not want to be identified for fear of reprisals, said: "At first he wanted lb420 for it but by the end he was desperate and said I could have it for lb125."
