It is very clear that western civilization is under attack by those who
intend to destroy us. The danger, however, is not coming from foreign
enemies, but from the enemies within our own countries. They are the
Socialists, Marxists, Radical Islamists, Communists and ,
within our governments, international corporations and banks,
educational institutions designed for indoctrination not education and
the media who hide behind the very freedoms we value so much, as they
plot to progressively destroy our way of life through political
correctness, judicial activism and incessant attacks on our traditional
moral beliefs and free speech rights.

In an article published May 15, 2013, American historical social
scientist Immanuel Wallerstein wrote, "Nothing illustrates more the
limitations of Western power than the internal controversy its elites
are having in public about what the United States in particular and
western European states should be doing about the civil war in Syria."
Those limitations are palpable in both language and action. A
political and military vacuum created by past US failures and forced
retreats after the Iraq war made it possible for countries like Russia
to reemerge on the scene as an effective player.
It is most telling that over two years after the Syrian
uprising-turned bloody civil war, the US continues to curb its
involvement by indirectly assisting anti-Bashar al-Assad regime
opposition forces, through its Arab allies and Turkey. Even its
political discourse is indecisive and often times inconsistent.
Concurrently, Russia's position remains unswerving and constantly
advancing while the US is pushed into a corner, demonstrating incapacity
to react except for condemnations and mere statements. This is to the
displeasure of its Arab allies. Russia's recent delivery of
sophisticated anti-ship missiles and its own buildup of warships in the
eastern Mediterranean is a case in point. The move was condemned by the
Obama administration as one that is "ill-timed and very unfortunate,"
according to a statement by Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint
Chiefs of Staff, as reported in the LA Times on May 17.
But this American attitude in the region is fairly new. Behind it
stands a history so bloody and filled with imprudent foreign policy.
Regardless of how the US decides to move on Syria, the chances are that a
return to its old dominant approach is no longer an option.
Indeed, the current American political impotence in the Middle East
is unprecedented, at least since the rapid disintegration of the Soviet
bloc in the early 1990's. The dissolution of the Soviet Union had
ushered in the rise of a unipolar world, wholly managed by the United
States. The rise of the uncontested American hegemony represented a
shift in historical dialectics, where great powers found their match and
the rest of the world, more or less, accommodated the ensuing
competition.
Then, the US acted quickly to assert its dominance starting with
hasty military adventures such as the invasion of Panama in 1989. A much
more calculated move followed with a devastating war against Iraq in
1990-91. In Panama the objective was to remind the US's southern
neighbors that the region's cop was still on duty and was capable of
intervening at a moment's notice to rearrange the entire political
paradigm in any way that Washington deemed necessary - As this has been
the case since the CIA-orchestrated coup and war in Guatemala in 1954
and even earlier.
The US's massive military involvement in Iraq, however, was that of a
conqueror who arrived with an entourage of many countries - regional
and western allies - to claim the spoils resulting from the end of the
protracted Cold War. It was an arrogant show of force since the target
was a single Arab country with humble military and economic means vs.
major military powers from near and far. The war devastated Iraq, as its
initial aerial bombing campaign alone involved the dropping of 88,500
tons of bombs. Many new weapons were used and tested, while the US media
and public celebrated the prowess of their military. Hundreds of
thousands of Iraqis died or were wounded as a result of one of the most
asymmetrical wars in history.
Trying to capitalize on its military triumph, Washington quickly
pushed for a political settlement between its closest ally, Israel, and
Arab countries. The logic behind the Madrid Conference in 1991 was
achieving pseudo peace that catered to Israel's interests, while opening
up the gate of normalization between Israel and its neighbors.
Moreover, the US hoped to achieve some sort of 'stability' that would
allow it to manage the Middle East region and its ample resources in a
less hostile environment. Eventually, Israel managed to negotiate its
own political deal with the Palestinians, thus dividing Arab ranks and
ensuring that the 'peace talks' outcome was entirely consistent with
Israel's colonial ambitions.
As years passed, the US and Israeli political visions moved even
closer, but with Washington eventually becoming a mere conduit to
Israeli colonial objectives. This fact was underscored repeatedly under
the George W. Bush administration, which compounded US failure in the
region with even more disastrous and dangerous wars.
A major fault in US foreign policy is that it is almost entirely
reliant on military power - as in the ability to blow things up. The US
war on Iraq which, in various forms, extended from 1990 to 2011,
included a devastating blockade and ended with a brutal invasion. This
long war was as unscrupulous as it was very violent. Aside from its
overwhelming human toll, it was placed within a horrid political
strategy aimed at exploiting the country's existing sectarian and other
fault lines, therefore triggering a civil war and sectarian hatred from
which Iraq is unlikely to cover for many years.
But limitations of US military power became quite obvious in later
years. The empire was no longer able to bridge the divide between
translating its dominance on the ground - itself increasingly challenged
by local resistance groups - into a level of political progress
required to achieve the minimum amount of 'stability'. Moreover, an
economic recession, coupled with the Iraqi retreat and an equally costly
debacle in Afghanistan - forced the new administration in Washington,
under the leadership of President Barack Obama to rethink Bush's earlier
quest for global hegemony. Massive military cuts were soon to follow.
Concurrently, the imbalance of global power was slowly, quietly but
surely being equalized with the rise of China as a new possible
contender.
In the midst of the US transition and policy rethink, an upheaval
struck the Middle East. Its manifestations - revolutions, civil wars,
regional mayhem and conflicts of all sorts - reverberated beyond the
Middle East. Shrinking and rising empires alike took notice. Fault lines
were quickly determined and exploited. Players changed positions or
jockeyed for advanced ones, as a new Great Game was about to begin. The
so-called 'Arab Spring' was rapidly becoming a game-changer in a region
that seemed resistant to transformations of any kind.
The transformation of the Middle East - promising at times, very gory
and bloody at others - arrived at a time when the US was making forced
adjustments in its military priorities. Putting greater focus on the
Pacific region and the South China Sea are such examples. Without much
notice, it was forced to reengage with the Middle East, as a whole - not
a country at a time. Only then, its weaknesses were seriously exposed
and its lack of influence became palpable.
Bankrupt is maybe an appropriate term to use in describing the
current US policy in the Middle East. Imprudent military adventures
devastated the region but achieved no long term objectives. Reckless
policies that are predicated on trying to exploit, as opposed to
understand the Middle East and its complex political and historical
formation and the insistence on keeping Israel a main priority in its
approach to the vastly shifting political lines, will unlikely to bode
well for US interests.
However, unlike the early 1990's, when the US moved to reshape the
entire region and established permanent military presence, new dynamics
are forcing US hands to change tactics. In this new reality, the US is
incapable of reshaping reality but merely trying to offset or control
its unfavorable outcomes.
"What the United States (and western Europe) want to do is 'control'
the situation,' Immanuel Wallerstein argued. "They will not be able to
do it. Hence the screams of the 'interventionists' and the foot-dragging
of the 'prudent.' It is a lose-lose for the west, while not being at
the same time a 'win' for people in the Middle East."
This 'lose-lose' scenario might not necessarily translate to a
complete American foreign policy meltdown in the near future, but will
certainly open the possibility for new/old players to main serious
gains, Russia being a lead example. This will likely compel the US to
change tactics, despite the incessant objections of neoconservative
forces and the Israeli lobby.Read more by Ramzy Baroud Hungry For Freedom In Guantanamo - April 26th, 2013 Deir Yassin, Beit Daras and the Buried History of Massacres - April 17th, 2013 Iraq Back at the Brink - February 15th, 2013 The Imagined, 'Sinister' Iranian Threat in Latin America - January 3rd, 2013 Iraq War's Lessons Lost on US - October 28th, 2011

The son of Igor of Kiev and Olga, Sviatoslav is famous for his incessant
campaigns in the east and south, which precipitated the collapse of two
great powers of Eastern Europe-Khazaria and the First Bulgarian Empire;
he also subdued the Volga Bulgars, the Alans, and numerous East Slavic
tribes, and at times was allied with the Pechenegs and Magyars.

In 2005, reports circulated that a village
in the Belgorod region had erected a monument to Sviatoslav's victory
over the Khazars by the Russian sculptor Vyacheslav Klykov. The reports
described the 13-meter tall statue as depicting a Rus' cavalryman
trampling a supine Khazar bearing a Star of David. This created
an outcry within the Jewish community of Russia. The controversy was
further exacerbated by Klykov's connections with Pamyat and other
anti-Semitic organizations, as well as by his involvement in the "letter
of 500", a controversial appeal to the Prosecutor General to review all
Jewish organizations in Russia for extremism."

Khazars were a Turkish group of tribes and nations, who ruled an empire extending east and west of the Caspian Sea ,
from the sixth or seventh to the tenth or eleventh centuries. They
engaged in the eighth century in a bloody struggle with the last Umayyad
khalif. Around 965 they were decisively defeated by Russian settlers.
Their enmity to their Muslim and Christian neighbours caused their
ruler, part of the nobility and apparently also of the people, to adopt
Judaism around 740. The Karaite version has usually been that what they
adopted was, in fact, Karaism. One of the main propagandists of this
theory was A. Firkovich, which has given it so bad a name in academic
circles that for a long time most scholars would not touch it. But in
recent years some have come around to a more affirmative view. Some
elements do exist which could indicate a linkage between Khazar and
Karaite history:

So those who call themselves Jews are actually Turks by blood, they are children of Khazars.

Today's
Jews are not Semites, their forefathers used to live in southers Russia
but after the collapse of their "empire" they moved to Europe.

To learn more, you need to read "The Thirteenth Tribe" by Arthur Koestler:

THE KHAZAR (Ashkenazic) EMPIRE AND ITS HERITAGE

This book traces the history of the ancient Khazar Empire, a major
but almost forgotten power in Eastern Europe, which in the Dark Ages
became converted to Judaism. Khazaria was finally wiped out by the
forces of Genghis Khan, but evidence indicates that the Khazars
themselves migrated to Poland and formed the cradle of Western Jewry. . .

The United Nations has made the State of Israel the target of incessant condemnation while neglecting its mandate in challenging the oppressive regimes around the world.

The following film clip (2011) uncovers the factors behind the UN's bias against Israel.

And just to make it clear - The amount of casulties "inflicted by Israel" during the entire Arab-Israel conflict which are mentioned in the video (46,000) are actually 40,000 Arabs and 22,000 Jews, together 62,000 general casulties during the Arab-Israel conflict, including the wars which the Arab world conducted with Israel along the years, and are taken from Egypt,Jordan,Syria,Lebanon,Palestinians and even Iraq, a world containing together hundreds of Millions of people.

Israel, one small state with only several few Millions of people, suffered more than 50% of the entire Arab world casulties...

And just for comparison- During the same period of time about 10 MILLION Muslims were killed by other Muslims....

How the ottoman caliphate was defeated

Ottoman Caliphate, which continued the Radiant Islamic state established
by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in Medina, despite weakness infected as a
result of its ignoring the role of the Arabic language and ceasing
Jihad, remained a guardian of Islam and Muslim territories.

The abolition of the Caliphate, which gathered Muslims under a united
leadership, notwithstanding their ethnic or racial background, was the
primary aim sought by the Crusades of colonizers.

With a view to impairing and attenuating the Islamic identity - as part
of ideological attacks - the Western states spread fallacious, dangerous
and destructive to Islamdom ideas of nationalism and patriotism.

One of the first Islamic countries, where nationalism made its way, was
Turkey, and the first who persistently fanned the flames of Turkish
nationalism, was the orientalist Arthur Lumley, David, who lived in the
first half of 19th century.

During his journey to Turkey, he wrote a book "Preliminary
considerations," which attempted to show Turks as a prominent and
independent race, superior to the Arabs and other Oriental peoples. It
was one of the earliest works to put forward nationalism, a totally
unknown phenomenon in the Ottoman Caliphate.

In his work "Islam in history," the most famous and influential
contemporary Orientalist Bernard Lewis writes: "The book by a British
Jews encouraged Turks to view themselves as a prominent and independent
nation."

Before the spread of Western ideas and propaganda in the Ottoman
Caliphate no signs of nationalism had existed. Muslims, who observed the
Sharia, until the beginning of 20th century had viewed each other as brothers, culling by a degree of piety.

While professing the same religion, they lived a satisfying life under
the rule of the Ottoman Caliphate, recognizing their common
responsibility for it. Nevertheless, a book by the above-mentioned
Orientalist inspired some cocky and superficial intellectuals and
politicians with an idea about the superiority of the Turkish race.

First, they translated most of David's writings into Turkish. But later,
some of them imitated his arguments claiming the glorious past of the
"Turkish race", to publish their own treatises. As Bernard Lewis notes:
"Thus, the Turks discovered their nationality stimulated by the Occident
and by works by Western authors."

Speaking of other people who helped promote the ideas of Turkish
nationalism, it is essential to mention a French writer David Leon
Cohen. His book, "General introduction to the history of Asia" (1899)
also discusses the racial superiority of the Turks and their great
contribution to history.

Bernard Lewis argues that it was this work, translated into Turkish and published in a large issue in early 20th century, that gave rise to Pan-Turkism of Young Turks movement and triggered the revolution in 1908.

Aside from the above book Cohen published several works on the glorious
past of the Turks. Needless to say, the primary idea of this
orientalist, extolled with enthusiastic praise by Turks, was to incite
racial prejudice and weaken the link between the Turks and other Muslim
nations.

It should be noted that Cohen was not content with merely writing his
own papers, but he also founded in Paris the society for the Turkish and
Egyptian refugees, and was trying to lay the groundwork for the
nationalist movements in their respective countries.

Creating a secret revolutionary society named "Unity and Progress" was
the most significant and awful outcome of work made with his
participation.

The founders of this society originated from the Turkish youth who
aligned with French republican ideas of and took a careful insight into
French Revolution. A well-organized structure, with its own extremist
agenda and strong and durable channels of propaganda, this society ran
its chapters in Berlin, Thessaloniki and Istanbul.

Masonic organizations, including the largest organization of Italian
Masons in Thessaloniki, supported "Unity and Progress" and helped them
conduct publishing work, as well as provided their venues to lodge the
meetings of its members, many of whom were also affiliated with masons.

Underground printed material of the organization reached Istanbul via
European diplomatic missions, to be secretly distributed by its members
in Turkey.

Apparently the key role in sparking both the Turkish and Arab
nationalism was played by an Orientalist Arminius Vambery - son of a
rabbi from Hungary who published a number of papers on the need to
revive the Turkish nation, language and literature.

His work attracted the attention of the pro-Western, or the so-called "enlightened" Turks, and awoke their patriotism.

Vambery kept close liaisons with Turkish statesmen and politicians of
the highest rank. Already during the life of this "traveler" his links
were revealed with British intelligence. The impact of this orientalist
on the Islamic views of some Turks was so significant, that they even
advised Turkish as a language of the Holy Qur'an and worship instead of
Arabic.

After the caliph Abd al-Hamid II firmly and finely rejected claims by
Zionists (represented by Theodor Herzl) to purchase a part of the
Palestinian territories for huge amounts of money, these coordinated
their efforts with the states of the Entente, actuated their agents in
the environment of the Turkish nationalists.

The conspiracy of colonialism and Zionism spawned the development of
Young Turks, the revolution of 1908 and a coup d'etat whereby
Abdul-Hamid II was deposed. The Young Turks, carrying out the Zionist
plan, adopted a pan-Turkic stance in their policy, assuming superiority
of the Turkish race.

After taking an anti-Arab bias, the Turks closed down all Arab cultural
organization and actively discriminated against Arabs and non-Turks,
thus adopting a policy in concert with the plans of British colonialism
to stimulate the development of Arab nationalism.

Arab youth nurtured the idea that "Turkey had colonized your country.
It's now right time to get rid of colonial rule". This soaked their
hearts and minds with a sense of nationalism, and made them form
political parties with the aim to uniting the Arabs and liberating them
from Turkish influence.

Thus, Zionism and imperialism and discrimination against Arabs, on the
one hand, coincided with the incitement of Arab nationalism and the
opposition to the Turks, on the other hand. Before that date, Arabs had
viewed themselves as a common nation. But as soon as the Turks had
proclaimed the superiority of Turkish culture over other cultures, Arabs
also began to insist on acknowledging their own national identity.

While sparking the trends of nationalism and dissent in the Muslim
lands, by backing up the call for secession from the Ottoman Caliphate,
the Europeans trumpeted that Ottoman Caliphate should implement a
European model of citizenship, and impose this framework onto the
so-called young nation-states.

This was the first step to disband the Ottoman Caliphate from within and
share it into individual States that would split from Islam, adopt the
European model of citizenship as a substitute, thereby gradually
alienating Islam from the people and their Islamic feelings replacing
with nationalistic and patriotic jingoism.

All this was openly revealed, for example, by a famous British spy,
Thomas Edward Lawrence. He entered the territory of the Middle East in
the Oriental archaeological expedition that was used as a cover for
British military intelligence.

Once, while crossing the distance between military camps of the sons of
the main Arab traitor - the sheriff of Mecca Husayn ibn Ali, he said, in
particular: "All the way I have been thinking of Syria ... During the
Hajj, I wondered: will ever nationalism replace religion? Will a
patriotic belief prevail over religious beliefs? Whether Syria will ever
replace its religious ideal with patriotism? "

Organizer and actual leader of the Arab revolt against the Ottoman
Caliphate, Lawrence, in his book "Seven Pillars of Wisdom" wrote:

"I deeply believed in the Arab movement. Even before arriving in Hijaz, I
was convinced that it is this idea that would crush Turkey for good. "

In a report "The Politics of Mecca," sent in January 1916 to the directors of British intelligence, he says:

"If we manage to convince Arabs to suddenly and by force enforce their
rights vis-`a-vis Turkey, it will put an end to the threat of Islam and
will push Muslims for an internecine war that will dissent them from the
inside. There will be a Caliph in Turkey and there will be another one
in the Arab world. Then they will rage a religious war between each
other.

After this, Islam will no longer bother us. Our main goal - to disrupt
Islamic unity, to win over the Ottoman Empire and push it in into
disintegration. If we understand how we should work with the Arabs, they
will be in constant political anarchy, in small warring with each other
states that will not be able to unite with each other. "

After the revolution of 1908, the Young Turks began to enforce the power
of Turkish nationalism and propaganda through the media. Racial and
nationalistic policies of the Young Turks, educated in Masonic lodges
across Europe, has fueled the flames of Arab nationalism - the
phenomenon which, in turn, was openly supported by the British.

Counter-attacks inflicted on Turks by Arab rebels, along with the
expansion of Western education and training of students in Europe
further stirred up the Turkish nationalist frenzy.

In an attempt to protect at least some rudiments of Islam in the people,
some Muslim thinkers have attempted to blend Islam with nationalism.
But whereas these two concepts are incompatible, their idea from the
start was doomed to failure. The increasing promotion of nationalism and
colonization, eventually led to the rise of Mustafa Kemal, known as
Ataturk, obsessed with hatred for Islam and everything associated with
it.

The fact that European governments took under their wing the advocates
of nationalism in the Islamic world, had the greatest impact on the
buoyancy of nationalism. By implementing the ideas of nationalism and
patriotism they caused destruction of the Ottoman Caliphate and the
division of Muslim nations. These ideas were implemented, not only among
Arabs and Turks, but also among other peoples who lived under the
shadow of the Caliphate.

Bernard Lewis, briefly setting out this tragedy, which served as a
motive for Schadenfreude of the West against Muslims, said: "In that
Empire, the main devotion of Muslims aligns with Islam and the state
embodies a concrete form of reality of Islam - the Caliphate, which has
acquired a legal nature over centuries, and administers public affairs.

The opposition, the rebels and the insurgents sought to change
ministers, governors and even the whole of the Caliphate, who ruled at
the time, though never trying to change the basis of loyalty to the
State of Islam and the unity of its essence. This situation in the
Middle East had prevailed until 19th century and may have lasted into 20th century.

Foreign forces are losing ground to the Afghan insurgents. As US and other foreign forces struggle for a way forward in Afghanistan, this unique film shows one of the most dangerous foreign outposts as it struggles to hold on.
Youre the first reporter Ive seen here in 8 months, says Staff Sergeant O Brien, in a rare break from the Afghan resistance incessant fire. This outpost in Kunar province is one of hundreds supposed to allow the US to win over locals and control local resistance movements. But its not working. The Afghan resistance control the high ground around the bunker and attack every day. Weve got the most sophisticated equipment in the world, O Brien says but we cant pick up on one guy whos sitting 800 metres away from us shooting. His men have spent 9 months under fire and must rely on what they can. One thing we usually use to determine who the resistance guys are is shoe type, O Brien explains. They wear shoes like this to move around the mountains he says comparing it with the sandal worn by a member of the US backed Afghan National Army=(militias belonging to drug warlords). Part of the outpost strategy is to mentor the US backed ANA=(militias belonging to drug warlords). But the men here see the reality of foreign forces losing ground. A lot of the reports you see are out of the big foreign bases, where its secure and theres not a lot of fighting. Its in remote foreign outposts like this one that conditions are almost like what the Russians ran in to.

Report by High Commissioner for Human Rights says death of BBC reporter's son apparently caused by 'Palestinian rocket that fell short of Israel'

A UN report indicates an errant Palestinian rocket, not an Israeli airstrike, likely killed the baby of a BBC reporter during fighting in the Hamas-ruled territory last November.

The death of Omar al-Masharawi, the 11-month-old son of BBCstringer Jihad al-Masharawi, became a symbol of what Palestinians see as Israeli aggression during eight days of fighting that killed more than 160 Palestinians and six Israelis. A woman was killed alongside the baby.

Israel launched hundreds of airstrikes during Operation Pillar of Defense to stop incessant Palestinian rocket salvos on southIsrael.

The UN office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights said in a March 6 report that the incident was caused by "what appeared to be a Palestinian rocket that fell short of Israel."

Hamas had no response Monday. BBC officials were not immediately available for comment.
