Hillsborough: BBC Panorama report shows evidence was true

A BBC Panorama investigation broadcast on Monday showed that evidence previously undermined was true

Evidence into the Hillsborough disaster that was undermined at the original inquest has been found to be true, BBC Panorama has found .

An account of the events from an off-duty police officer has always
said that he attempted to treat a dying boy at which time the Coroner
said no one could have survived.
At this point, doubt was cast on medical evidence that supports the
idea that people could not have survived past 15.15 on that fateful day.
TV footage of his account that was broadcasted through Panorama shows clearly that his account of details was true.

On April 15 1989, 96 football fans were crushed to death during the
FA cup semi-final clash between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest at
Sheffield Wednesday's home ground.
After the inquest at the time determined that the verdict of deaths
was accidental, the High Court overlooked the verdicts and requested a
fresh inquest should take place.
After TV footage emerged by Panorama of the response of the emergency
services on that day shows that the death toll could have been much
lower.
The Hillsborough Independent Panel's report shows that if the victims
were given proper treatment more than half of the fans that lost their
lives may have had a chance of survival.
Merseyside Police Constable Derek Bruder, who was off-duty on the
day, tried to resuscitate 15-year-old Kevin Williams but this evidence
was undermined at the inquest.
The BBC Sport cameras and a news team recorded the Hillsborough disaster, while the police had CCTV and a mobile camera unit.

The footage was later released to police and the families' lawyers but the excuse of it being too distressing for broadcast.

Twenty-four later Panorama was able to analyse it.

The footage clearly shows that much of what took place at Hillsbrough
could have been prevented. It showed that there were warning signs from
the start.

UK: Manchester United trophy parade salutes Sir Alex Ferguson

Manchester united celebrated lifting their 20th Premier League title in a parade through Manchester City Centre on Monday. The triumph of winning the league with such an emphatic point difference has provided the opportunity for Sir Alex Ferguson to leave on a high - having announced his retirement from management last week. Ferguson's career spanned 26 years and the club, in which he saw "knocked Liverpool off their purch" and claimed victory of a pletora of managers, including the challengers presented by the "big money clubs" of Chelsea and Manchester City.

The parade was hit by the unpredictability of British weather, with a huge hailstorms blighting preparations. Despite the initial bad weather, the sky turned blue as the open-top bus toured its way through town, with tens of thousands of the city's fans paying homage to their stars. Ashley Young and Rio Ferdinand led the celebrations, paying in particular tribute to Robin Van Persie - a summer acquisition of Ferguson's from rivals Arsenal. The signing of the dutchman has been seen as a master-stroke as he picked up the golden boot and established himself as the leading striker in the Premier League.

Manchester United play their last game of the season - and their last game with Ferguson at the helm - on Sunday as they face West Bromich Albion. Ferguson will then have his successor David Moyes take the reigns. Manchester United face a challenge next season as they face the prospect of losing Wayne Rooney and a clamour from rival clubs to compete.

The Toxteth riots of July 1981 were a civil disturbance in Toxteth, inner-city Liverpool, which arose in part from long-standing tensions between the local police and the black community. They followed the Brixton riots earlier that year.

  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1981_Toxteth_riots

This is a spoof recording recorded in a Manchester Radio Station - for the entertainment of a few inner circle employees and of course close friends of the Station.

My Dad had this stored away for years and has now 'leaked' it. Previously posted under previous username &lt;now deleted&gt;. Sound quality not great unfortunately but nonetheless a humourous slant on events of the day.

Recorded back in the day when humour was expected and offence was a distant concept. British are known for (or were known for) 'their humour' (unless you're Scottish of course).
