Charles Ramsey denies Free Burgers

The man who famously put aside his Big Mac to help rescue three women held captive in a Cleveland house said Friday that he's not endorsing a group of restaurants that are offering him free burgers for life and wants his name kept out of it.

"I never told these people they could use my name for this," Charles Ramsey said in a written statement released through attorney, Patricia Walker.

The restaurant where Ramsey worked as a dishwasher initially created a special burger named his honor, called the Ramsey Burger. Then more than a dozen area eateries had decided a larger tribute was due.

Ramsey said he doesn't endorse the northeast Ohio restaurants that are offering burgers bearing the Ramsey name, or that are promoting a lifetime of free burgers for him.

The owner of the restaurant group said in a statement Friday evening that it will drop the burger from the menu, The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer reported.

"We are saddened to hear that Chuck did not take this - or the offer of so many Cleveland restaurants to give him free meals - in the spirit we intended," Scott Kuhn of the Driftwood Restaurant Group said in a statement, the newspaper reported.

Ramsey was called a hero after helping Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight break out of the house May 6. Homeowner Ariel Castro faces charges. His defense team has said he will plead not guilty.

The statement from Ramsey's attorney said he has not authorized any merchandise. "Ramsey encourages people to do things that will help the victims," the statement said.

It's unclear whether Ramsey would be accepting free burgers.

Local McDonald's franchisees in Ramsey's neighborhood have offered him complimentary food at their restaurants for the next year, a spokeswoman for Oak Brook, Ill.-based McDonald's Corp. confirmed Thursday.

Ramsey had noted in an interview with a local TV station that he was eating McDonald's when the scene unfolded. He also spoke of it in a 911 call. Both the interview and the call quickly became popular online, and McDonald's caught wind of Ramsey's mentions.

McDonald's also has made a $10,000 donation to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in the names of the three women and Ramsey.

Take a look at some of these recent quotes from the usually very liberal late night TV show hosts:

"The liberals are asking us to give Obama time. We agree...and think 25 to life would be appropriate."

--Jay Leno

"America needs Obama-care like Nancy Pelosi needs a Halloween mask."

--Jay Leno

Q: Have you heard about McDonald's' new Obama Value Meal?

A: Order anything you like and the guy behind you has to pay for it.

--Conan O'Brien

Q: What does Barack Obama call lunch with a convicted felon?

A: A fund raiser.

--Jay Leno

Q: What's the difference between Obama's cabinet and a penitentiary?

A: One is filled with tax evaders, blackmailers, and threats to society. The other is for housing prisoners.

 --David Letterman

Q: If Nancy Pelosi and Obama were on a boat in the middle of the ocean and it

started to sink, who would be saved?

A: America !

 --Jimmy Fallon

Q: What's the difference between Obama and his dog, Bo?

A: Bo has papers.

--Jimmy Kimmel

Q: What was the most positive result of the "Cash for Clunkers" program?

A: It took 95% of the Obama bumper stickers off the road.

Good for Hannah and her mom.

via ABC News :

Don Thompson, CEO of McDonald's Corp., found himself on
the grill after a 9-year-old girl accused the fast food giant of trying
to "trick kids into eating food that isn't good for them."
Hannah Robertson, 9, flew in with her mom from Kelowna, British
Columbia, to attend McDonald's annual shareholder meeting Thursday in
Oak Brook, Ill., the company's headquarters.
"Something that I don't think is fair is when big companies try to
trick kids into eating food that isn't good for them by using toys and
cartoon characters," Robertson read during the question and answer part
of the meeting. "If parents haven't taught their kids about healthy
eating then the kids probably believe that junk food is good for them
because it might taste good."
Her mother, Kia, attended the meeting as a member of advocacy group Corporate Accountability International ( http://www.stopcorporateabuse.org/ ),
headquartered in Boston and with offices around the world. Kia
Robertson, 36, started "Today I Ate a Rainbow" in 2009, described as an
"interactive nutritional game," and is a nutrition blogger

Cleveland hero Charles Ramsey gets hamburgers for life

CLEVELAND - The man made famous for putting down his Big Mac to help free three women held captive for about a decade in a Cleveland house will never have to buy a hamburger in his hometown again.

More than two weeks after Charles Ramsey became an instant folk hero after telling his story to television reporters, Cleveland food blogger Michelle Venorsky said on Thursday that 15 restaurants are offering him a free hamburger, whenever he wants it.

Venorsky floated the idea to her followers after seeing Ramsey's first interview on TV.

"He was so entertaining...I thought he should never have to pay for another meal in Cleveland again," Venorsky said in a phone interview.

Since his first interview on local TV, Ramsey, a dishwasher at a Cleveland restaurant, has become an Internet sensation. The restaurant produced a t-shirt with Ramsey's face and the words "Cleveland Hero" on the front, netting $21,000 for a fund set up for the women, who were held captive for about a decade.

Ramsey was not available for comment on Thursday. He has had brushes with the law in the past, including domestic violence convictions.

Amanda Berry, her six-year-old daughter, and two other women, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight, were discovered in the house of former school bus driver Ariel Castro on May 6. Ramsey heard Berry's calls for help and he and others helped her escape and call 911.

Castro has been charged with multiple counts of kidnapping and rape. He is in jail on an $8 million bond.

One restaurant owner, Sam McNulty, said the offer of free burgers to Ramsey "is a communal high-five from the Cleveland restaurant industry."

The kidnapping story has several fast food connections.

Ramsey's story, with its mention of a McDonald's hamburger, won him praise from the restaurant chain.

After the discovery of the women, Castro was arrested in front of a McDonald's about a mile from the house.

As a school bus driver, Castro was once accused of leaving a child alone on a bus, telling the child "lie down, bitch," while he visited a Wendy's restaurant.

Also, a neighbor reported seeing Castro park his school bus outside the house and bring a large bag of fast food and several drinks inside, even though he was thought to live alone. The neighbor said his mother called police, who warned Castro not to park his school bus outside the house.

Lawyers said in a statement on behalf of the three women that they are "happy and safe and continue to heal."

The Large Families that rule the world

Some
people have started realizing that there are large financial groups
that dominate the world. Forget the political intrigues, conflicts,
revolutions and wars. It is not pure chance. Everything has been planned
for a long time.
Some call it "conspiracy theories" or
New World Order. Anyway, the key to understanding the current political
and economic events is a restricted core of families who have
accumulated more wealth and power.
We are speaking of 6, 8 or maybe 12 families who truly dominate the world. Know that it is a mystery difficult to unravel.

We will not be far from the truth by
citing Goldman Sachs, Rockefellers, Loebs Kuh and Lehmans in New York,
the Rothschilds of Paris and London, the Warburgs of Hamburg, Paris and
Lazards Israel Moses Seifs Rome.

Many people have heard of the
Bilderberg Group, Illuminati or the Trilateral Commission. But what are
the names of the families who run the world and have control of states
and international organizations like the UN, NATO or the IMF?
To try to answer this question, we can
start with the easiest: inventory, the world's largest banks, and see
who the shareholders are and who make the decisions.

The world's largest companies are now: Bank of America, JP Morgan, Citigroup, Wells Fargo, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley.

Let us now review who their shareholders are.

Bank of America:
State
Street Corporation, Vanguard Group, BlackRock, FMR (Fidelity), Paulson,
JP Morgan, T. Rowe, Capital World Investors, AXA, Bank of NY, Mellon.

JP Morgan:
State Street Corp., Vanguard Group, FMR,
BlackRock, T. Rowe, AXA, Capital World Investor, Capital Research
Global Investor, Northern Trust Corp. and Bank of Mellon.

Citigroup:
State
Street Corporation, Vanguard Group, BlackRock, Paulson, FMR, Capital
World Investor, JP Morgan, Northern Trust Corporation, Fairhome Capital
Mgmt and Bank of NY Mellon.

Wells Fargo:
Berkshire
Hathaway, FMR, State Street, Vanguard Group, Capital World Investors,
BlackRock, Wellington Mgmt, AXA, T. Rowe and Davis Selected Advisers.

We can see that now there appears to be a nucleus present in all banks: State Street Corporation, Vanguard Group, BlackRock and FMR (Fidelity). To avoid repeating them, we will now call them the "big four"

Goldman Sachs:

"The big four," Wellington, Capital World Investors, AXA, Massachusetts Financial Service and T. Rowe.

Morgan Stanley:
"The
big four," Mitsubishi UFJ, Franklin Resources, AXA, T. Rowe, Bank of NY
Mellon e Jennison Associates. Rowe, Bank of NY Mellon and Jennison
Associates.

We can just about always verify the
names of major shareholders. To go further, we can now try to find out
the shareholders of these companies and shareholders of major banks
worldwide.

Bank of NY Mellon:
Davis
Selected, Massachusetts Financial Services, Capital Research Global
Investor, Dodge, Cox, Southeatern Asset Mgmt. and ... "The big four."

State Street Corporation (one of the "big four"):
Massachusetts
Financial Services, Capital Research Global Investor, Barrow Hanley,
GE, Putnam Investment and ... The "big four" (shareholders themselves!).

BlackRock (another of the "big four"):
PNC, Barclays e CIC.

Who is behind the PNC? FMR (Fidelity), BlackRock, State Street, etc.
And behind Barclays? BlackRock

And
we could go on for hours, passing by tax havens in the Cayman Islands,
Monaco or the legal domicile of Shell companies in Liechtenstein. A
network where companies are always the same, but never a name of a
family.
In short: the eight largest U.S.
financial companies (JP Morgan, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Citigroup,
Goldman Sachs, U.S. Bancorp, Bank of New York Mellon and Morgan
Stanley) are 100% controlled by ten shareholders and we have four
companies always present in all decisions: BlackRock, State Street, Vanguard and Fidelity.

In
addition, the Federal Reserve is comprised of 12 banks, represented by a
board of seven people, which comprises representatives of the "big
four," which in turn are present in all other entities.
In short, the Federal Reserve is
controlled by four large private companies: BlackRock, State Street,
Vanguard and Fidelity. These companies control U.S. monetary policy (and
world) without any control or "democratic" choice. These companies
launched and participated in the current worldwide economic crisis and
managed to become even more enriched.
To finish, a look at some of the companies controlled by this "big four" group

Alcoa Inc.

Altria Group Inc.

American International Group Inc.

AT&T Inc.

Boeing Co.

Caterpillar Inc.

Coca-Cola Co.

DuPont & Co.

Exxon Mobil Corp.

General Electric Co.

General Motors Corporation

Hewlett-Packard Co.

Home Depot Inc.

Honeywell International Inc.

Intel Corp.

International Business Machines Corp

Johnson & Johnson

JP Morgan Chase & Co.

McDonald's Corp.

Merck & Co. Inc.

Microsoft Corp.

3M Co.

Pfizer Inc.

Procter & Gamble Co.

United Technologies Corp.

Verizon Communications Inc.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc.

Time Warner

Walt Disney

Viacom

Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation.,

CBS Corporation

NBC Universal

The same "big four" control the vast majority of European companies counted on the stock exchange.

In addition, all these people run the
large financial institutions, such as the IMF, the European Central Bank
or the World Bank, and were "trained" and remain "employees" of the
"big four" that formed them.
The names of the families that control the "big four", never appear.

Supersized Labor: Detroit Sees Largest Fast-Food Strike in U.S. History

When Michigan's Republican Governor Rick Snyder signed controversial "right-to-work" legislation last December, it was a significant policy defeat for the American labor movement. But the symbolism of anti-union laws passing in Michigan was even more potent. In 1936, United Auto Workers members occupied a General Motors factory in Flint, MI, beginning what came to be known as the Flint Sit-Down Strike. The action led to the organizing of the automotive industry and helped spur the modern labor movement in the United States.

Today, workers are striking in Michigan once again, but the picket line isn't in front of an automotive factory. Following surprise strikes in New York, Chicago and, earlier this week, St. Louis, fast-food workers across Detroit walked off the job today, demanding the right to form a union and a base-pay rate of $15 per hour.

In the introduction to a petition on detroit15.org , a group involved in organizing the walkout, the impetus for the strike is laid out in more detail

Our employers-thriving corporations like McDonald's, Burger King, KFC, Dollar Tree, Little Caesar's, Domino's, Long John Silver's and others-are making billions of dollars, but they pay us poverty wages as we struggle with our coworkers to support our families and cover our basic needs.

More than 400 workers have walked off the job today, making the Detroit action the largest fast-food strike in American history. Furthermore, this is the first strike to take place in a "right-to-work" state.

With their low pay and limited benefits , fast-food jobs are by no means ideal employment. And while working for minimum wage and no healthcare may be perfect for the proverbial burger-flipping high school student, that clich'ed notion of a fast-food employee is increasingly dated. The median age of fast-food workers is 28, and that number skews four years older for women, who make up two-thirds of the workforce. Rent, utilities, car payments, groceries, childcare and other financial responsibilities have to be covered with an annual average annual salary of just $18,810.

The growing momentum of these fast-food strikes suggests that a new approach to labor actions may be gaining traction and proving successful. Reporting on the Detroit strike for The Nation , Josh Eidelson writes,

Along with a shared significant supporter-SEIU-the campaigns in New York, Chicago, St. Louis and Detroit have apparent strategies in common. Rather than waiting until they've built support from a majority of a store's or company's workers, they stage actions by a minority of the workforce designed to inspire their co-workers. Rather than publicly identifying the campaign and its organizers with a single international union, these union-funded efforts turn to allied community groups to spearhead organizing. Rather than training all their resources on a single company, they organize against all of the industry's players at once.

This strike may be taking place in Michigan, but the tactics couldn't be more different than those of the UAW.

It's too early to determine the successes or failures of today's work stoppage, but Detroit's union culture appears to be giving the strikers a boost: Organizers are reporting that replacement workers called in to reopen one McDonald's location refused to cross the picket line and joined the strike instead.

Detroit @ mcdonalds called in for workers to replace strikers. Replacements arrived & saw strikers.

Boy with AUTISM's hands blown off by bullies

KEEP IN MIND THIS BOY IS AUTISTIC
THE boy who lost both hands in a golf ball bomb blast says he didn't know the device was deadly - and told how he wished it was a dream when he looked at his injuries.

Michael Boggan lost both of his hands yesterday afternoon after the device, understood to be a golf ball, exploded in the back yard of a house in Leichhardt, near Ipswich, west of Brisbane.

Today, speaking from his Princess Alexandra Hospital, he said: "Tell the kids out there to tell your parents if you find anything unusual. Just don't pick it up at all.""If you ever find anything with white powder in it with bearings in it, do not pick it up. It is a bomb.""I had no idea it was a bomb. It just blew up in my face", Michael said.
"The tiniest powder, right, it goes into a huge flame. Right. And that was a golf ball, packed."He said the blast happened after he went to a nearby house with friends."Basically we all went around there. My mate was sitting there he said 'Oh Michael, check this out - I wasn't lying - I found heroin in a golf ball'.""He picks it out and puts it on this table and everyone was sitting there saying 'snort the shit Michael, I'll do it if you do it'."
"I was like 'no freaking way man, you do it, and then I'll probably do it'.'"But none of them did it. What I usually could do is make them snort it and then I don't snort it or whatever.""But they didn't snort it, neither did I luckily. He put it on the table and I walked over, picked it up, had a look at it."He goes: 'I'll sell it to you for $5'. Oh yeah, a smoke sorry. 'I'll sell it to you for a smoke' right."I roll him a smoke and I give it to him.""He sold it to me. I was just sitting there playing with it. I was chucking it around and the next minute 'boom'.""I was shaking it up a little bit. I didn't know it would blow up.""I couldn't see for two seconds, and I couldn't hear for two seconds.""And then I looked at my hands and I was like 'tell me this is a dream, please tell me this is a dream'.
""There was just all of this, hung down, and all of this skin."He said he had known the other youth for "ages".His mother Rebecca Boggan said: "He has got a little finger on his left hand, that's it. And he has got a thumb on his right. They've managed to reconstruct and pin the index and the middle finger."The ring finger took a big swipe, I don't know how much of that is left. They don't know if the other two fingers are going to stay and not get infected. He's going in for surgery tomorrow morning.TRAGIC: A Facebook image of golf ball bomb victim Michael Boggan (inset) and his stepdad Mick Clifton."He's got shrapnel wounds all over his body."He's very up on medication at the moment."He's got holes in his legs, right down to his bones, from the ball bearings. He's got shrapnel wounds on his arms. And his hands are gone.

"I would like to see this boy charged with whatever offences."I know from a few other adult witnesses, that the main perpetrator was showing this golf ball around a few houses in Leichhardt in the morning."Michael believes (the other youth) he found it on the side of the road shortly before the incident happened. But we don't think that's true. The scene of a bomb explosion at Leichhardt near Ipswich. Picture: Roberston Marc"He went out to play and I just keep thinking about the what-ifs. What if I made him stay home and do the house work he was supposed to do. What if I had done this If I had done that. It may not have happened."Apparently him and his friends were sitting at the table and the perpetrator came into the yard."He sat down at the table and said to Michael 'look at this it's full of drugs', and threw it at him.A police officer collects evidence at the scene of the Ipswich blast. Police and a bystander at the scene of yesterday's explosion at Ipswich. PIC: Marc RoberstonIpswich Mayor Paul Pisasale this morning said the boy had spoken for the first time since the incident."He has just come out surgery and he has related he was sitting around the table with a few boys and some young boy ... who has always been a bully to him has thrown some sort of golf ball explosive device at him and it has exploded."All I'm saying is this person needs to have some consequences for his actions because what he has done has sort of destroyed a young 15-year-old boy's life."Cr Pisasale said: "Michael said all the others (besides the one youth that threw the ball) are all innocent."Stepdad Michael Clifton said Michael had been shopping earlier in the day before the tragedy and had bought a slow cooker as a present for Mother's Day."We were out doing shopping - we had just bought his mother a Mother's Day present."It's the last thing he'll ever carry."Mr Clifton said he had been told another similar homemade device had been in the community previously. He said Michael had been bullied in the neighbourhood for about three years."He would come home sometimes and he had been in fights with other kids and he's come home angry ... because no one liked him and they just kept treating him like crap."One of them didn't like him and this is what happens."Mr Clifton said he did not know the 17-year-old accused of throwing the device and had not spoken to Michael's school about the bullying."We never thought it would come to this," he said.Mr Clifton said there had been bullying on Facebook in the past "and we put a stop to it, straight up."He said his son did not have the "wherewithal" to make a bomb."He never learnt anything about that and we monitor his Internet."Mr Clifton said he was told people in the community knew about the homemade bomb earlier in the day."I'd just like to see justice done," he said."If he has done wrong punish him (the boy who allegedly threw the device)."He has been in trouble with the law heaps of times before and they just don't punish these kids."Michael - who today was in a stable condition in hospital - had just finished Mother's Day shopping with his stepfather yesterday when he went to visit a friend in Dampier St but ended up across the street in another home's backyard. What followed, his family said, was a horrific incident that should never have happened."Some kids had been boasting about this golf ball all morning . . . then they threw it at him," his mother said."He wasn't involved, they weren't his friends."Michael, 15, suffers from autism and Asperger syndrome and attends Ipswich High three days a week."He tries to make friends with these kids but gets bullied," the boy's mum Rebecca said.Mr Clifton said he was still in shock."These teenagers have no moral compass," he said.Michael underwent emergency surgery at the Princess Alexandra Hospital overnight in the hope of saving part of one of his hands.Three other teens, aged between 15 and 18, were also hurt and taken to Ipswich hospital.Police inspector Keith McDonald said those believed to be involved had not been "forthcoming" in providing information about the incident. The family said they had been wanting to move from the area for years but could not afford to."There are needles in the playground, we don't let our daughter play there anymore," Michael's mum said. They said their home on Light St had been egged and targeted by vandals, with gangs of teens running rampant and little police presence.Describing the boy as having a "heart of gold", his family said they were horrified, unsure what to do next.Police investigations are continuing.

Kid never had a father figure, so he never even learned how to ride one. Hopefully he succeeds in life. If he's willing to walk 6 miles to work at a McDonald's, he's already got a pretty good work ethic.
