"Ladies and gentlemen, this is the largest meth seizure of ice in the history of Polk County and it all started with a simple traffic stop," said Polk Sheriff Grady Judd. At a press conference Judd had $10 million of meth on display. He said it was all discovered after deputies pulled over Scott Eargood and his passenger, Santos Escobar for a suspended license. "When we searched the vehicle we found about a half a pound of meth and it was in ice form," Judd said. And it wasn't easy for deputies to find. Deputies showed pictures of the secret compartment in the trunk of the jeep where the drugs were hidden. "People who have that kind of elaborate set-up are known for moving more dope. So we figured well if there's a half a pound of dope in his car, maybe there's dope in his house," said Judd. At the house, drug dogs hit on a wall near the bathroom. And when deputies bust it open, they said they found 100 pounds of bricks of meth buried inside. Shirley Showllenberger who rented out the home to the suspect said it's a scary thought. "They fooled us. They pulled a good one over us. We didn't suspect it," she said. Showllenberger said the suspects lived in her rental home since February and seemed like hard workers. Now she's ready to get out of the rental business. The sheriff says they teamed up with federal authorities after making this discovery. He said that's because the federal courts are more likely to give stiffer penalties and longer prison sentences. A light hung from a bungee cord above the table. Deputies said they found a wet sponge, scissors, a 12-inch straight-blade kitchen knife, a plastic razor and a cigarette butt on the table. All those items were seized as evidence. Investigators said the victims' cat, named Mama Kitty, had gone missing three days earlier. The cat was 9 years old. "When I walked into my neighbor's home, all I could see was her tail hanging off the side of the board," said the cat's owner Lisa Armstrong. "You can't even digest that as a human being, I'll have that vision for the rest of my life you know." Investigators said the dead cat's body had been tampered with and was partially shaved. The Oregon Humane Society's law enforcement division conducted a necropsy and determined the cat died of asphyxiation. Ashley Guldager, 21, was arrested and charged with aggravated animal abuse and first-degree theft of an animal. "I don't want to talk about the cat because that was a horrible thing," Guldager said from the Clackamas County Jail. In an emotional and often incoherent interview, Guldager referenced the Bible, Satan and eventually her neighbor's cat. "My body was there," she said. "I was sitting there like this and there was something else doing it. Like it just used me." The charge of aggravated animal abuse is applied if a person maliciously kills an animal, according to the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office. "Yeah, I'm really sorry about the pet," Guldager said. Guldager had been living upstairs on a couch in the home where the cat was found for about a month. She is single and unemployed, according to deputies. She also knew the owners of the cat. Deputies have not revealed a motive for the killing of the cat. "I'm sorry," Guldager said. "I love animals." But Armstrong says, she doesn't believe that, and adds that she will never understand why this had to happen to her beloved pet. "She took a life, it may not have been a human life, but by tomorrow we'll get our justice in court, and we'll make sure she stays where she's at, she is not well," said Armstrong. Investigators at the scene said Guldager had also been mixing chemicals at the house. Those chemicals had been moved to the backyard. The United Kennel Club doesn't recommended using pitbulls as guard dogs because they're " too friendly with strangers ". It's a common mistake that people make today. When they look for a dog to protect their home, they pick the meanest looking, or the biggest breed. And then they wind up with a dog that will wag it's tail to greet a home invader. A responsibly treated pitbull is more likely to grab his leash and beg the burglar to go for a walk. A yapping little chihuahua alarm-system will almost always make a better guard dog. Not to say a pitbull isn't protective. It's not a good idea to kick at a child who is walking their pitbull. Hence the name, Nanny Dog. Petey never ate the Little Rascals. In fact, Petey was a standard representation of the breed's role in society ( before violent rap music ). People felt safe to let their children wander, if they took their dog with them. People knew their child would be safe, left home alone, if the dog was there. This is why the breed has always been known as the Nanny Dog. The parents knew that nobody would be bothering their children, if the dog were around. For centuries it has been a right of passage, that a boy get a dog and raise the dog and train the dog. And, pitbulls were the popular pet choice ( other breeds were chosen when other specific traits were desired, like shepherding, or duck retrieval or pointing or scent tracking. etc. ). And for centuries, there has been no trouble with the breed ( or, variations of the breed ). The average 8 year old has always been more than capable of raising and training these dogs, and teaching them the basics in behavior and command. Sit, lay down, shake, stay, speak, anybody with a brain can do it. Anybody with a brain can condition their dog to act properly. But something changed recently, and it wasn't a magic transformation in the dog's genetic makeup. It was our culture. Specifically the black sub-culture, and rap culture in particular. Today these dogs are pushed by the if-it-bleeds-it-leads media, and rap-culture. Before pitbulls, it was rottweilers that had the exact same reputation. Before rotts, it was pinchers with that reputation. And before pinchers, it was german shepherds that all the same people knew were simply an inherently violent breed ( and their argument was the same argument, pointing at bite statistics which were much higher among german shepherds ). BSL fanatics who like to defend degenerates with abused untrained chained-up dogs, always ignore these facts. You will notice that in the comments. Not one of them will address any of these facts .
