Jason Chaffetz raises the prospect. By Robert Costa Representative Jason Chaffetz, a Utah Republican, says President Barack Obama may face impeachment over his administration's response to the Benghazi attack.

"They purposefully and willfully misled the American people, and that's unacceptable," Chaffetz tells me. "It's part of a pattern of deception."

Behind the scenes, he says, House Republicans are frustrated by the White House's evasiveness, and the calls for impeachment will likely increase.

Chaffetz acknowledges that House speaker John Boehner is wary of moving too swiftly against the president, but the brash, 46-year-old conservative is tired of waiting for answers. He's ready to issue subpoenas and schedule more hearings.

His chief concern is that the White House, which he says is staffed by "self-preservationists," seems to be hiding documents related to the attack and the president's decisions, in order to protect the administration from scrutiny.

"They've released 100 emails, but there are thousands of documents that we still need to see," he says. "The truth gets colder as time goes on, so we need to stay vigilant."

"Now, the speaker has more patience than I do," Chaffetz says. "He has told me to be patient, that the truth will eventually surface. But I'm not a patient person, and if this administration makes us do this the hard way, that's what we'll do."

Chaffetz's tension with the White House has been building for months, ever since he took a fact-finding trip to Libya last October, less than a month after the terrorist attack. During that visit, he huddled with several U.S. diplomats, including Gregory Hicks, a former deputy chief of the Libya mission.

But the heavy-handed tactics of the president's advisers, he complains, sullied his investigation from the start. He worries that allies of Obama and former secretary of state Hillary Clinton have inappropriately pressured his sources - and restricted his access. "They've obstructed me from doing my congressional duty," he says. "When I went over there, a State Department babysitter intimidated me and many others."

"The State Department had people watching my every move," he recalls. "But even as they watched me like a hawk, I was able to see how ill-prepared the embassy was for an attack. There were walls that weren't very tall, and trees that could be climbed. One of the walls was so low that some people were able to prop up a ladder to dump trash on our embassy's grounds. I asked one of my guides why that was allowed, and he shook his head and said, 'Well, I guess we just didn't want to offend the neighbors.'"

But the worst part of the journey, Chaffetz says, was having State Department lawyer Jeremy Freeman along, shadowing him through every meeting. Hicks and other U.S. diplomats, he says, were effectively muzzled by his presence. "And at one point, Hicks had to leave a meeting, only to be chastised over the phone by Cheryl Mills, Hillary Clinton's top adviser," he says. "It was unsettling - to see, up close, the depths to which Secretary Clinton was willing to go to manipulate the process."

Chaffetz says he has relayed these stories to his Republican colleagues, especially after Hicks testified before the House oversight committee earlier this month. Chaffetz says the conversations about his experiences have stirred unease, and he expects members to press the White House for details on how officials may have obstructed Congress.

"The White House likes to say that our questions are a political sideshow, but it seems like it was their politics that caused a lot of the problems," Chaffetz says. "Hicks testified about being suppressed from saying much to me during my trip, so it's not like we're running roughshod."

Over the weekend, White House communications director Dan Pfeiffer appeared on the Sunday talk shows and defended the administration. When asked about the editing of national-security talking points and the president's conduct on the night of the attack, Pfeiffer argued that the administration was engaged and acted responsibility.

Chaffetz doesn't buy it. "This is an administration embroiled in a scandal that they created," he says. "It's a cover-up. I'm not saying impeachment is the end game, but it's a possibility, especially if they keep doing little to help us learn more."

Look for Chaffetz, the chairman of the oversight committee's subcommittee on national security, to lead the fight for accountability as the controversy - and talk of impeachment proceedings - escalates.

In the meantime, he's trying to get back to Libya.

"Unless you go out there and kick the tires, you'll never really get the proper perspective," he says. "I've been kicking them for a while, but this is only the beginning. I'm going to spend months finding out the truth, and do whatever it takes."

Terrorist attacks on Turkish soil won't stop until the country's Prime Minister, Tayyip Erdogan, gives up on his support of rebel forces in Syria, British broadcaster, Neil Clark, told RT.

Turkish police have fired tear gas at protesters in a town near the Syrian border, which was the scene of a deadly double car bombing a week ago.

Demonstrators are angry over Ankara's support for the Syrian rebels, which they say is putting Turkey in the firing line.

World affairs journalist and broadcaster, Neil Clark, believes Erdogan must reconsider his policies and stop accusing the Syrian government of targeting the Hatay province, as it would've been an "absolutely absurd" move from Damascus.

Man Fined $1,000 for saving Boy's Life with Unregistered Handgun

Authorities last week made an agreement not to prosecute a Northwest D.C. man who used his unregistered handgun to kill a pit bull in order to stop it from mauling a child in his neighborhood to death.

As part of the agreement, Benjamin Srigley , 39, was required to pay a $1,000 fine but will not have criminal charges filed against him for the three unregistered firearms and the ammunition that investigators found in his possession, said Ted Gest , a spokesman for the office of the attorney general.

"We took it into account that he saved this boy's life," Mr. Gest said.

Possession of an unregistered firearm or ammunition in the District is punishable by up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine, and prosecutors said Mr. Srigley could have faced up to seven criminal charges in the case.

"In our recent memory this is a unique charge because of the unusual circumstances of this case," said Mr. Gest , whose office generally prosecutes low-level crime in the District.

The horrific incident that spawned the investigation occurred on a Sunday afternoon in late January as 11-year-old Jayeon Simon and his friend rode bicycles near Eighth and Sheridan streets Northwest in the Brightwood neighborhood. According to court records filed in D.C. Superior Court, three unleashed pit bulls pounced on Jayeon and attacked him.

Seeing the attack, Mr. Srigley went inside his home to get his Ruger 9mm pistol while several other men hopped over fences to get away from the dogs, court records state.

From behind the wooden fence of his front lawn, Mr. Srigley began firing at the dogs. His shots attracted the attention of a Metropolitan Police Department officer on bicycle patrol nearby, and he also opened fire on the dogs, killing the other two.

The boy survived the attack but now bears scars on his elbow, torso and leg as a reminder.

Jayeon 's family is thankful for Mr. Srigley , crediting him for saving the boy's life.

"I don't think he should be charged at all because it's an act of heroism," said Chris Speight , 45, a cousin who helps care for Jayeon .

In addition to deciding how to handle Mr. Srigley 's case last week, authorities also made the decision to press charges against the dogs' owner, Alan Paige .

Mr. Paige , who lives a block north of the corner where the attack occurred, will face nine criminal charges - including three counts of possession of a dangerous dog, three counts of having an unleashed dog, and three counts of allowing a dog to go without a collar. The charges account for each of the three dogs, Mr. Gest said.

Mr. Paige could not be reached at his home Friday for comment. A hearing is scheduled in June for his case.

Answering the door at his home, a duplex with a stone facade and well-manicured yard, Mr. Srigley held his own dog back from his front door and declined Friday to comment on the case because it is still technically pending in court. The office of the attorney general is deferring prosecution, meaning it will remain active while Mr. Srigley meets conditions set by authorities.

In addition to paying a $1,000 fine, which was submitted in full Wednesday when the case when to court, the charges against Mr. Srigley - who police noted has no criminal record - will be dropped on condition he is not charged with any other crimes in the next two months.

While investigating the case, police seized Mr. Srigley 's pistol, which he said he purchased legally in Virginia when he lived there, and close to 100 rounds of ammunition from his home. Mr. Srigley told investigators that he owned two other guns - an antique M-1 rifle and a Mossburg 12-gauge shotgun - which were in a storage space in the District.

Police also seized those guns, but authorities have agreed they will return the firearms to Mr. Srigley when he registers them in Maryland, where he plans to soon move.

NHS chief executive Sir David Nicholson defied bosses to blow thousands of pounds of taxpayers' money travelling first class.

Sir David, who many say should be sacked for his role in the Mid Staffs scandal where 1,200 patients died, racked up huge bills.

He has defended the practice but hasn't admitted his own officials raised concerns over his first class tickets in 2010.

A memo by the Department of Health's then top civil servant, permanent secretary Sir Hugh Taylor, that July shows Sir David's "train travel" was discussed by officials "on a number of occasions".

And a copy obtained by the Daily Star Sunday reveals worries over him using the most expensive seats.

In the memo, Sir Hugh wrote: "I am sure David has been travelling first class; and I think in principle we should regard that as consistent with the original contractual commitment.

"However, I think it should be put to him that it would send a better signal if he were to move to standard class."

We have learned the issue was raised with Sir David, who earns lb211,000-a-year, plus a bonus and benefits.

But his expenses - and his testimony to a parliamentary committee - suggest he was still travelling first class until April 1 this year.

From April 2011 to March 2012, while NHS budgets were being slashed, he put in 133 claims for rail travel totalling around lb19,745.

The highest was for lb399 with the average costing lb148.

Many were for Friday first class travel to Birmingham, near his family home.

Taxpayers were also billed thousands for Sir David to travel via a "Government car" and lb13,000 in accommodation and restaurant costs.

His expenses from April 2012 onwards will be published soon and will show more first class travel claims.

In March, Sir David told the Public Accounts Committee he had to travel in luxury as he was doing three jobs and had to work on the go. But he said he planned to travel standard class from April 1 this year when he went to a single role.

Campaigners say Sir David, who refused to resign over the Stafford Hospital scandal, has stuck "two fingers up at the public".

Julie Bailey, whose mum died at Stafford, said: "It's an insult to all who pay taxes knowing this man earns more than the Prime Minister and insults us further by travelling in such style on the public purse."

The Department of Health told us measures had been taken to "minimise costs".

It said: "Sir David's employment arrangements were agreed with the Department of Health.

"All travel and overnight stays were booked in advance wherever possible to minimise costs. Travel by car may have been used for journeys at short notice, during anti-social hours, where confidential calls needed to be made or to locations not easily accessible by train."

Sunday Times says Assad regime puts advanced surface-to-surface Tishreen missiles on standby with orders to hit Tel Aviv should Israel launch another airstrike. Uzi Rubin, Israel's leading missile expert, told the newspaper that the Tishreen missiles are "extremely accurate and can cause serious harm" -

Syria has put its most advanced missiles on standby with orders to hit Tel Aviv if Israel launches another strike on its territory, The Sunday Times reported overnight Sunday.

According to the British newspaper, reconnaissance satellites have been monitoring preparations by the Syrian army to deploy surface-to-surface Tishreen missiles.
An Israeli official told The New York Times that Israel, which has launched three recent attacks on Syria, was considering further strikes and warned President Bashar Assad that his government would face "crippling consequences" if he hit back at Israel.

The Sunday Times said the deployment of the Syrian-made Tishreen missiles, each of which can carry a half-ton payload, marks a significant escalation of tension "in a region in which the United States and Russia appear to be preparing for a Cold War-style stand-off."
Uzi Rubin, Israel's leading missile expert, told the newspaper that the Tishreen missiles are "extremely accurate and can cause serious harm.

"Even if they don't hit Ben-Gurion (Airport) directly, they would halt all commercial flights out of the country," he said.

An Israeli official told The New York Times last week that Israel, which has reportedly launched three attacks on Syria recently and destroyed advanced anti-aircraft and surface-to-surface missiles that were designated for Hezbollah, was considering additional strikes and warned President Assad that his regime would face "crippling consequences" if he hit back at Israel.

The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday that Russia is continuing to arm Assad's regime and has sent a dozen or more warships to patrol waters near its naval base in Syria, a move that American and European officials have called aggressive, saying it was designed to warn the West and Israel not to intervene in the country's civil war.

Also on Friday, the New York Times reported that Russia has transferred to Syria advanced anti-ship cruise missiles, which threaten Israeli Navy vessels and the Jewish states gas fields located up to 300 kilometers (186 miles) from the coast.
According to the report, Russia has previously provided a version of the missiles, called Yakhonts, to Syria. But those delivered recently are outfitted with an advanced radar that makes them more effective.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Moscow's weapons sales would "not in any way alter the balance of forces in this region or give any advantage in the fight against the opposition."

A young Somali journalist in Sweden named Amun Abdullahi got herself
in trouble with the politically correct elite by reporting the truth
about the radicalization of young Somalis in Rinkeby (a culturally
enriched suburb of Stockholm), where they were recruited for jihad by
the Islamic terrorist group Al-Shabab.

The treatment meted out to Ms. Abdullahi made her decide to move back
to Somalia. She acknowledges that Mogadishu is a dangerous place, but
she considers Sweden more dangerous, because "here you cannot tell the
truth.
