The D-Wave Two is the most advanced commercially available quantum computer in the world.

These almost unfathomably futuristic machines can run more calculations in an instant than there are atoms in the universe
By Carmel Lobello
12:50pm EST

The nonprofit Universities Space Research Association just splurged on a new toy: A $10 million D-Wave Two quantum computer. The machine is the most advanced commercially available quantum computer in the world.

USRA installed the device, which should be online by the end of September, at the new Quantum Artificial Intelligence Lab at the Ames Research Center in Silicon Valley, where researchers from USRA, NASA, and Google will put it use.

What is a quantum computer? Think of it this way: Regular computers process information using bits, which can innately have only one of two values (zero or one, plus or minus, yes or no, etc). Quantum computers use qubits, which can simultaneously represent more than one value. In that sense, "quantum computing could herald a new era of number-crunching," said Robert McMillan at Wired , by breaking out of the "binary" system of computing. USA Today explains:

A quantum computer takes advantage of a principle in physics that on the atomic scale particles can be in many places at once or have multiple properties such as magnetism or an electrical charge simultaneously. They would store data in these multiple positions at once, unlike conventional computers, which only store one value or data point in their circuits at a time. USA Today ]

That means Qubits can multitask, which results in outstanding power. "A quantum computer with 300 qubits could run more calculations in an instant than there are atoms in the universe," says Technology Review .

Considering there are between 10 to the 78th power and 10 to the 82nd power atoms in the universe, quantum computers sound unfathomably, maybe even unnecessarily, fast. The fastest supercomputer, the Titan Cray XK47 at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee, can already perform quadrillions of calculations per second. What function could possibly need more power than that?

Apparently, something called machine learning, or "the way computers take note of patterns of information to improve their outputs," says Quentin Hardy at the New York Times . "Personalized Internet search and predictions of traffic congestion based on GPS data are examples of machine learning." Hardy goes on: "The field is particularly important for things like facial or voice recognition, biological behavior, or the management of very large and complex systems."

You can see why this might be appealing to Google, right? As Hartmut Neven, Google's director of engineering, wrote :

We believe quantum computing may help solve some of the most challenging computer science problems, particularly in machine learning. Machine learning is all about building better models of the world to make more accurate predictions. If we want to cure diseases, we need better models of how they develop. If we want to create effective environmental policies, we need better models of what's happening to our climate. And if we want to build a more useful search engine, we need to better understand spoken questions and what's on the web so you get the best answer. Google ]

With a massive biometric FBI surveillance system going live across the United States in recent weeks, tens of thousands of drones to be flying over American skies within just a few years, over 1 billion rounds of ammunition being acquired
by non-military government agencies, and host of laws and executive
orders outlining military and police emergency response plans to lock
down the United States, it isn't much of a stretch to suggest that our
government is preparing for something that aims to fundamentally
transform America as we know it today.
New evidence for a coming lock-down of America is presented to the
public by citizen journalists and alternative media on an almost weekly
basis, which suggests that whatever is being planned is on a much more
accelerated schedule now than ever before.
The latest, from alternative news hub Rense.com ,
indicates that Department of Homeland Security is expecting significant
push-back in the very near future, which explains why they would need
some 2,500 heavily armored vehicles with DHS Police/Rescue logos:

What could they need
equipment like this for here in the US? They are hitting the road with
it. Caravans of National Guard equipment but with new never before seen
equipment in the convoys. Take a close look at what is painted on the
side of the Black Humvees. The Humvees are fully armored the same
standard used by our military.
The use of the word 'Rescue' is an obvious psy op...makes it sound nice
and benign, kind of like a life-saving paramedic ambulance and not a
domination and death machine. The Posse Comitatus Act is gone.

The United States government is and has been planning for unlikely events like war and societal collapse
for many years. This year President Obama has implemented, by Executive
Order, doomsday response plans that would essentially give the
government an unprecedented ability to nationalize large industries, personal farm and ranch land, and even your skills and labor in the event of a declared emergency. A control grid is being put into place to handle what they know is coming.
The only question is: What, exactly, is it that is coming to America?

Mark Tapscott
Sarah Hall Ingram, the IRS executive in charge of the tax exempt division in 2010 when it began targeting conservative Tea Party, evangelical and pro-Israel groups for harassment, got more than $100,000 in bonuses between 2009 and 2012.

More recently, Ingram was promoted to serve as director of the tax agency's Obamacare program office, a position that put her in charge of the vast expansion of the IRS' regulatory power and staffing in connection with federal health care, ABC reported earlier today .

Ingram received a $7,000 bonus in 2009, according to data obtained by The Washington Examiner from the IRS, then a $34,440 bonus in 2010, $35,400 in 2011 and $26,550 last year, for a total of $103,390. Her annual salary went from $172,500 to $177,000 during the same period.

The 2010, 2011 and 2012 bonuses were awarded during the period when IRS harassment of the conservative groups was most intense. The newspaper obtained the data via a Freedom of Information Act request.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., described the Ingram awards as "stunning, just stunning."

Bonuses as large as those awarded to Ingram typically require presidential approval, according to federal personnel regulations.

High-ranking career federal civil servants like Ingram are eligible for recognition through citations known as Distinguished and Merit Service awards that can carry with them cash bonuses of anywhere from five to 35 percent of their base salary.

The largest of such awards, however, require presidential approval, according to the Office of Personnel Management, which oversees the federal civil service workforce.

"If the recommended award is over $25,000, the Director of OPM reviews the nomination and forwards his/her recommendation to the President for approval," according to the OPM guidance.

A key point on OPM's "checklist" for federal bosses considering an employee for such a bonus is making sure that "the proposed award recipient has not been involved in any action or activity that could cause the President embarrassment ..."

Ingram has some history as a government lawyer receiving controversial bonuses. According to The Washington Post , she received a $47,900 bonus for distinguished service in 2004 from President George W. Bush.

Earlier Thursday , The Washington Examiner reported that the IRS paid out more than $92 million in bonuses during the four-year period of Ingram's awards to her and nearly 17,000 other agency employees. Those bonuses averaged more than $5,500 per employee.

Go here for a spreadsheet of the salary and bonus data for IRS employees getting bonuses between 2009 and 2012.

Mark Tapscott is executive editor of The Washington Examiner.

IRS officials refused to grant tax exempt status to two pro-life organizations because of their position on the abortion issue, according to a non-profit law firm, which said that one group was pressured not to protest a pro-choice organization that endorsed President Obama during the last election.

"In one case, the IRS withheld approval of an application for tax exempt status for Coalition for Life of Iowa. In a phone call to Coalition for Life of Iowa leaders on June 6, 2009, the IRS agent 'Ms. Richards' told the group to send a letter to the IRS with the entire board's signatures stating that, under perjury of the law, they do not picket/protest or organize groups to picket or protest outside of Planned Parenthood," the Thomas More Society announced today . "Once the IRS received this letter, their application would be approved."

Planned Parenthood endorsed Obama in 2008 and 2012.

The IRS also pressured another pro-life group about its religious activities. "The IRS withheld approval of an application for charitable tax-exempt recognition of Christian Voices for Life, questioning the group's involvement with '40 Days for Life' and 'Life Chain' events," according to the law firm. "The Fort Bend County, Texas, organization was subjected to repeated and lengthy unconstitutional requests for information about the viewpoint and content of its educational communications, volunteer prayer vigils, and other protected activities."

The IRS admitted last week to that some members of the agency targeted Tea Party groups for discriminatory reviews of their applications for tax-exempt status. The Justice Department has initiated a criminal investigation into the matter.

More of the Things You Aren't Supposed To Know

By Gordon Duff, Senior Editor

It is time we differentiated hard intelligence and rational
analysis from conspiracy theory addiction. Remember, it was Fox News
and the Limbaugh crowd that created the addiction for wild conspiracies
and fabrication.
They, of course, did so out of knowing treason, as time has proven
out rather conclusively. Let's look at what we know, what we can prove
and, especially, what can never be published.
A reader coined our media here in the west, the "LSN" (Lame Stream
News). That one may stick. The shame is even Colbert, Maher and
Stewart are shamefully dim witted and gutless.
They make me sick.

BUGGING THE PRESS, OR AT LEAST THE "ASSOCIATED PRESS"

The AP or "Associated Press" is hardly real press. Why shouldn't
the government bug the press? We pay the government to protect us from
dangerous criminals. In recent years, those who aren't wearing uniforms
or badges, carry press passes often as not.
First of all, at VT, we have certainly been bugged all along by a
dozen governments. We get followed and a few claim that helicopters are
over their homes continually. I am not so sure about that but we have
endless evidence of continual infiltration attempts by paid informants
and petty "terrorist groupies," all pretending to be activists of
members of the "alternative press."
We have had several of our editors and correspondents imprisoned,
including a UN Ambassador and member of congress and one who served as
White House intelligence chief.
Their crimes? One tried to tell Bush his Iraqi WMDs didn't exist.
The other refused to assign a huge amount of money belonging to the
people of the United States to the Bush family. That got him a 22 year
sentence. These moves "on the press" were done by two "Bush league"
presidents.
Another VT correspondent in Britain is under indictment for, and you
will love this, reporting a terrorist threat to an intelligence agency
that may well have been fully complicit in planning what was to be an
act of false flag terrorism. "Let no good deed go unpunished."
The lesson, if you are going to report terrorists, please ask them if they are working for the Mossad, CIA or MI-6 beforehand.

If they say no, they are with the Department of Homeland Security, America's answer to Al Qaeda.

Bush and Cheney ordered the assassination of another of our editors,
Gwyneth Todd, a member of the National Security Council. "Gw" escaped
to Turkey and then to Australia. The attempt on her life was featured
in a five page Washington Post article and is mentioned, with some
regularity, on television in Australia. Todd, while at the White House,
was privy to some of America's darkest secrets, not just the illegal
invasions but broad spying by AIPAC and even planning of the 9/11 attack
as well.
Three VT contributors have been killed while reporting in zones of conflict.

One was kidnapped and tortured by Israelis, an issue now before the International Criminal Court at The Hague.

Another, an Israeli citizen of Jewish ethnicity, is under "sentence
of death for honesty in journalism," a common form of recognition in
Israel.
As for the AP and "others," we are fully behind government efforts to
investigate them. We have found the "Lame Stream News" isn't quite so
innocent. Minimally, anyone who hasn't been living under a rock knows
the news delivered to the undiscerning American, Brit, German, Canadian
or what have you is pure propaganda.
What few realize is that the acts of domestic terrorism know openly
accepted as "false flag attacks," certainly Sandy Hook and Boston, and
9/11 most of all, would be impossible without full complicity by the
press.
If the government wants to stop domestic terrorism, they are going to
have to wiretap the LSN, catching the text messages, emails and phone
calls from the spy organizations and terrorist groups that we believe
are regularly in contact with the press.
Key press assets are notified in advance of attacks so that stories
can quickly be "spun" to blame the "favor of the month" patsy and to
cover up blunders. On 9/11, when Building 7 collapsed though undamaged,
the BBC had predicted that collapse 20 minutes in advance by mistakenly
getting the timing of the demolition schedule wrong.
They had been notified in advance.

To any idiot, this has to be obvious: The BBC was working directly with the terrorists.

No other explanation is possible. If you can think of one, let me know.

It is impossible to defend the United States from terrorism and
espionage without running surveillance on terrorist groups and foreign
spies.
America's press qualifies on both counts.

There is more than conclusive evidence that the press takes direction
from AIPAC/ADL, long under investigation/indictment for espionage.
Eighty five percent of America's press is controlled by corporations
involved in war profiteering. 95% of the individuals who manage our
news are either Israeli citizens or qualify for Israeli citizenship.
This is not to say that all are controlled but as the truth never
gets out and wrongdoers are openly assisted and covered for by the
press, perhaps its time we took a look at them.
TEA PARTY IRS TROUBLES

Let's face it, the Tea Party is funded by money laundered into the
country through "Citizens united." The funding that put Tea Party
candidates in office was money from international criminal cartels,
drugs, prostitution, human trafficking, human organ theft and their cut
of the massive financial crimes that their policies defend while they
sit on their fat behinds in congress.
As for domestic contributions, most come from Sheldon Adelson, the
gambling boss, likeable old character though he is, and the ultra-evil
Koch brothers, some of the biggest market scamsters in the world.
It doesn't take a genius to note that the Tea Party serves and agenda
that demonstrates ties to organized crime, terrorist organizations and
that it is broadly aligned with financial wrongdoing.
This is exactly the kind of group I want the IRS investigating.

They are only being rational: "Where there's smoke, there's fire."

NUTTY CONSPIRACY FREAKS

Let's face it, the LSM or LSP, (Lame Stream Media or Lame Stream
Press, pick one), is not worth defending. They are enemies of the
United States, work directly with the groups that have destroyed much of
the world and, were I to have my way, I would put many in prison or
worse.
There is no major news agency that isn't openly complicit in acts of treason.

As for the Tea Party, the Wall Street dominated attempt to derail any
legitimate attempt to restore democracy in America, who cares if the
IRS goes after them. They are drowning in dirty money and should well
be paying taxes or doing jail time for tax evasion.
What I would like to know is this, why does anyone care when our
government finally starts going after the people all of us really hate?
It makes me happy.
You say going after them is "fascism?" Where did you read this, the Lame Stream Press?

Anyone wonder why my next words are "Too Stupid to Live."

SYRIAN NUKE

On or about May 4, 2013, we have conclusive evidence that a nuclear
weapon was used against Syria. Sources tell us that it was one of two
nuclear "bunker buster" weapons illegally transferred to Israel, stolen
by agents of the Department of Homeland Security. (If only I were
kidding...)
The last statement, however, is NOT confirmed, not the use of the
these particular weapons nor that Israel was responsible for the
attack. However, the nuclear attack was concurrent with an Israeli
artillery barrage against Syrian forces.
The confirmed nuclear attack, a weapon that could have been easily
delivered by a number of platforms, was against an underground
facility. Syria has gone to considerable lengths to deny an attack that
was filmed and that there is medical confirmation of as well.
We then ask, what was the facility and why the silence?

STRANGE BRITAIN

On January 18, 2013, a double-lorry stopped outside a pub in
Somerset. The name on the side said Insight Trans Logistics. The pub
is a known "watering hole" for a major arms trafficker known to trade in
nuclear technology and worse.
The cargo was identified as containers for two nuclear weapons.

The cargo was to be loaded for shipment to Gibraltar. When this
incident was reported to the security services, the individual
reporting, someone with decades of experience handling nuclear weapons,
was told to remain silent.
I leave the "dots" unconnected.

SYRIAN VOTE IN THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY

However the conflict in Syria began, the situation there has deteriorated into something "unholy."

I have deep respect for legitimate opposition forces that wish for a
change in the Syrian government. Toward that end, I have worked with
others to organize a strong delegation to Damascus to begin a peaceful
reconciliation, one that is "reality based" and is respectful of the
survival of all the Syrian people.
Others want Syria to go the way of Iraq or worse. Syria is to be a
platform for isolating and crushing Lebanon, for destabilizing Iraq
under the guise of Kurdish nationalism (a people I care deeply for) and
imposing a region-wide tyranny, financed by reactionary Arab royalty and
managed by Zionist fanatics.
World war will be the result.

The vote in the UN General Assembly, pushed by Qatar and the Saudi's,
a vote even Israel refused to take part in, was a shameful attempt to
push forward a sick agenda by the same nations that sent tanks into
Bahrain to suppress freedom loving people fighting against a vicious and
tyrannical state.
No rational person could look on the goals of an Israeli-Saudi
coalition and not be more than a bit dismayed to find two supposed
enemies have been working together for decades. Imagine the mischief
the LSM has had to cover up for this "axis of evil."
Anyone that thinks Russia and China will watch Syria be taken down,
them and then Iran, must know something the rest of us don't.
NIGERIA

In 2011 I was in Nigeria for the inauguration of Goodluck Jonathan.
While there, Harry Erivona and I and our associates met with the
president and the Chief of Security, top police and counter-terrorism
officials and leaders in banking and the national oil companies.
We had been invited to lay out plans for modernizing Nigeria, uniting
the country and preventing the civil war now ravaging the nation.
Our concerns weren't just for Nigeria or making money, the real
reason Nigeria has been targeted. Oh, you might ask who has targeted
Nigeria?
Civil war in Nigeria is big business, a civil war planned and
executed with full complicity by many of those now in Abuja working to
supposedly help protect Nigeria from, well, from those Nigeria is paying
endless millions to for "counter-terrorism" assistance.
Key officials in Nigeria were informed, very specifically, of the
timeline for terrorist bombings, training and supplying Boko Harum and
flooding the region with jihadists.
We had been in Nigeria before, same message, 2008.

Nigeria is a great country, the real key to African security and,
with that, very much the real security of the United States. We watched
intelligence agencies from Europe and "elsewhere" flood into Niger
under the guise of dealing with the conflict in Mali. While there, they
were pouring weapons into Nigeria and supporting terror cells
throughout the country.
Then, of course, the same groups were also sitting in hotels in
Abuja, with suitcases of cash to bribe officials, ready to take fat
contracts to fight the terrorists they had sent.
I do so love it when a plan comes together.

Southern Sudan, Uganda and Kenya are next on the list.

The hotels are filling up with "doctors" who bring the disease with them.

A Lancaster bomber has
performed a flypast over Derwent reservoir, 70 years on from the
historic World War II raid on German dams.
Hundreds of onlookers gathered near the dam - one of the practice sites pilots used ahead of their top-secret mission.

More than a third of the men never returned from the raids, which required them to fly 60ft above ground.

The RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and 617 Squadron flew over the dam in Derbyshire's Hope Valley.

Only three of the 133-strong squadron are still alive. Ninety-four-year-old Les Munro, is the only surviving pilot.

More than 1,300 people were killed when the bombs hit German dams and flooded the Ruhr valley.

Of the original aircrew, three were captured and 53 were killed

'Sacrifice'
The flypast was one of a number of events taking place around England on Thursday to mark the raids of 16-17 May 1943.

The Royal British Legion will create a Field of Messages at the National Memorial Arboretum in Alrewas, Staffordshire.

Over 10,500 cardboard crests with supporters' messages will be on display at the memorial throughout the day.

And at RAF Scampton near Lincoln, where 70 years ago the bomber pilots took off on their mission, there will be a sunset ceremonyand another memorial flypast, to be broadcast on BBC2 at 19:00 BST. TheRAF is live tweeting the original wireless telegraphy signals from the raid on Thursday, through its Twitter account .
An exhibition and talk is also being held in Barry Island, Vale of Glamorgan, the hometown of a crew member Gordon Yeo, who died in 1943, and on Friday events are taking place at the Eder Dam in Germany.
"I think events like this make us remember the sacrifice those young lads made during the raid, said well-wisher Roy Taylor."They never got the recognition they deserved I don't think."

Derwent reservoir was one of the places pilots practised low-flying before the raid

The Dambusters raid was carried out by 133 airmen, flying 19 Lancaster bombers armed with the "bouncing bombs" designed by Sir Barnes Wallis.
Dr Wallis's daughter described him as a "man of peace" but said he acted out of a sense of patriotic duty.

"He was not a man of war and that is often not, I think, properly understood," Mary Stopes-Roe told the BBC. "But if you have to defend something you have to defend it and that's it, you do your duty."

He was "devastated" when he heard how many airmen had been lost, she said. 'Very successful'

Dambusters raid: Retrace their daring journey
Compared to today's pilots, who must fly 250ft above ground, they flew incredibly low at 60ft. They alsohad to fly in the dark for the night-time raid.
They flew so low, according to historian Dan Snow, that one hit the sea, tearing off the bomb carried by the plane. Another flew into high voltage electricity cables and was engulfed in flames.
Codenamed Operation Chastise, 56 of the men who took off on the mission did not return.

Out of 19 bombers, eight were shot down and 53 were killed.

Eight-year-old Jack Porter, who travelled with his father from Manchester to watch the flypast, said: "I can't believe they flew so low in the dark. They were very brave.
"It was brilliant to see the Lancaster today."

The military impact of the Dambusters raid, immortalised in a 1955 film starring Michael Redgrave, is disputed.

"I believe from an operational point of view they were very successful," veteran Les Munro told the BBC. "They had achieved the two major primary targets."
Writing for the BBC news website, Dan Snow said : "No raid mounted by so few aircraft had ever caused such extensive material damage.

"It did not bring German war production to a permanent halt, but nobody had expected it to."

Canadian rear gunner Fred Sutherland, 89, and 91-year-old Squadron Leader George 'Johnny' Johnson are the only other two surviving members of 617 Squadron.

Whites Only Scholarship Creates Outrage

Joe Mroszczyk, president of the College Republicans at Boston University, admits he set out to stir up a hornet's nest when he came up with the idea of offering a whites-only scholarship at the school. But he got a little more buzz than he bargained for.

"To tell you the truth, we didn't see this coming," Mroszczyk said. "The Drudge Report picked it up yesterday, and today I just finished a round of national interviews. It's kind of overwhelming."

All the media attention is focused on a $250 Caucasian Achievement and Recognition Scholarship offered by Mroszczyk and the BU chapter of the College Republicans. Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher; they must write two essays; and, here's the kicker, they must be at least one-quarter Caucasian.

The application itself offers an explanation: "We believe that racial preferences in all their forms are perhaps the worst form of bigotry confronting America today."

According to Mroszczyk, his group is offering the scholarship to point out "how ridiculous it is to have any sort of racially based scholarship."

At BU, for example, students who are at least one-quarter Hispanic can apply for a National Hispanic Recognition Scholarship.

"There are plenty of poor, white, academically gifted students who need that money just as much," Mroszczyk said.

It isn't the first time a group of students has tried this kind of stunt.

Two years ago a chapter of the College Republicans at Roger Williams University also offered a $250 whites-only scholarship. That's where the BU students got the idea.

"We are not doing this as some kind of white supremacy thing. I wanted to have a dialogue about racial preference," Mroszczyk said.

It seems as if Mroszczyk has gotten his wish. People from across the country are now weighing in on the idea through e-mail and the radio. And closer to home, some BU students are having their say too.

"It's a poor way to talk about affirmative action," said David Coreas, the 21-year-old senior who is president of the Latino fraternity Phi Iota Alpha at BU. "If they want to have a scholarship, then let them have a scholarship, but they're stirring up controversy in the wrong way."

Coreas said he believes that racially based scholarships are necessary to level a very uneven academic playing field.

"We have to look at the situation honestly," he said. "Caucasians tend to have a higher per capita income than Latinos and other minorities. We have to have scholarships to survive."

Coreas said he would welcome an honest dialogue on campus about race and affirmative action.

Mroszczyk admits even some of his good friends are shaking their heads.

"They said I can't believe you're doing this," he said.

But for all the talk, there are still no takers for the scholarship. The application has been available online since Nov. 7, and so far not one student has filled it out.

That's money wasted, according to David Coreas.

"I wish I could apply: That $250 could help me pay for my textbooks," he said.

Coreas isn't eligible, though.

But for BU students who have a pretty good GPA and can write a couple of essays, there's still time, as long as they're also 25 percent Caucasian. The deadline for applications is Nov. 30.

On the 15th of May, protesters showed up in front of the Children's
Place in Colombia Heights. Their merchandise was found in the ruins of
one of the factories in the collapsed Rana Plaza builidng in Bangladesh.

Midnight of the 15th of May is the deadline for retailers to sign the
factory safety agreement that could have prevented this collapse, had it
been in effect at that time. As of 6PM on May 15th, Children's Place
has not signed that agreement. Protesters were on hand to demand they do
so, and were able to deliver a letter to the store manager.
Unfortunately the response was a poorply-writtenm pre-printed form
letter in reply. This did list a phone number, which everyone with a
cell phone promptly called!

Just over 1,100 bodies were recovered from Rana Plaza by the time the Bangladeshi military gave up on recovery efforts.

Cops knew about the protest in advance, and formed a defense line in
front of the door. This probably turned away many more customers than
the picket line did, given how many people cross picket lines these
days. The picket turned away more, so I suspect sure the Children's
Place lost money as a result of this protest.

Speaking of cops, the cops who usually show up at every protest were
absent, perhaps in recognition of MPD's role in starting the fighting at
the GAP protest on Mayday. Speaking of the GAP, there was another
protest there about the same collapsed factory building on Saturday, the
11th of May without problems.

Israel misuses recognition granted by Muslim nations

-DR. ABDUL RUFF

_____________

Why did the Arab Spring that caused havoc in other Mideast nations not enter Israel?

Why Israel wants every Muslim nation to recognize it ignoring its genocides in Palestine?

Backed by hard core Zionist Americans, Israel has thus far very skilfully used those Arabs and Muslim nations in general that supported and recognized the Zionist regime its own advantages and employed their support for justifying its crimes in Palestine. .

Arms sales - a major revenue source of Israel- to pro-Israeli Muslim nations like Turkey and Egypt, kept the Zionist occupation intact because these Muslim nations never criticized Zionist crimes, thereby providing secured signal of legitimacy for illegal occupation, genocides and crimes .

Jordan that has also recognized fascist Israel has got the Israeli taste when Israel arrested the Mufti of Jerusalem Sheikh Muhammad Hussein on false ground. Angered by Israeli provocative action, the Jordanian parliament voted unanimously yesterday to expel Israel's ambassador to Jordan and to recall the Jordanian ambassador to Israel. The Jordanian parliament vote is non-binding but said Israel's actions had caused "extreme shock and anger."

The Jerusalem Mufti was released after a few hours. Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld told The Media Line he was questioned in connection to an incident earlier this week when some 15 Muslim worshippers on the Temple Mount threw chairs at security forces.

Israel also allowed Jews to visit the Temple Mount, which is holy to both Jews and Muslims, on the day that marked the "reunification" of Jerusalem. Jordanian security forces dispersed dozens of protestors who tried to break into the Israeli embassy in Amman.

Tens of thousands of Israelis marched through Jerusalem to celebrate "Jerusalem Day," when Israeli troops conquered Jerusalem's Old City, and the holiest Jewish site, the Western Wall. Israel annexed both the Old City and East Jerusalem, which Palestinians say must be the capital of a future Palestinian state.

Meanwhile, in Jerusalem, 18 Palestinians and 3 Jews were arrested yesterday for attempting to incite violence.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi arrived in Gaza for a three-day visit at the head of a delegation of 50 senior and was welcomed by Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh. The rival Palestinian Authority sharply condemned the visit, saying it legitimizes Hamas rule in Gaza and deepens divisions between Fatah and Hamas. Qaradawi is the spiritual leader of the Muslim Brotherhood and the visit was also seen as a victory for Hamas, which the US and Israel consider a terrorist organization.

The delegation of Muslim scholars accompanying him is from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Jordan, Libya, and Tunisia as well as other Arab and Muslim countries. Hamas welcomed the visit as "historic". Qaradawi has issued some controversial "fatwas" or religious decrees including supporting suicide bombings against Israel.

This Apple-1 is believed to be one of only a half dozen still functioning.

By CNET
Plugged In - Fri, May 10, 2013 2:13 PM EDT

By Eric Mack
A German "Auction of Firsts" includes relics and creations from tech luminaries from Pascal to Woz and Jobs.

Attention early adopters: That first-edition Google Glass hardware is likely to be gathering dust a few years from now as the technology gets seriously revved (or falls victim to paranoid lawmakers and pub owners ), but don't toss it out!

If an auction later this month of computing and other technological blasts from the past is any indication, it could pay off to hold on to those obsolete gadgets that were once on the cutting edge, even just briefly.

The highlight of the sale, planned for May 25 by German auction house Breker , is an original, working Apple-1 , one of only 200 that were produced and 50 that are believed to still exist. Last year, Sotheby's auctioned off just an original Apple-1 motherboard for $374,500.

The lot up later this month includes all the system components, plus the original manual and a letter to the original owner signed by Steve Jobs. Breker sold another Apple-1 for a record $640,000 at a previous auction, and estimates that this one -- the auction house claims it is one of only six functioning systems -- could fetch up to $400,000.

While the Apple-1 and its younger sibling, the Apple Lisa-1, are the auction lots with the greatest name recognition, the three centuries of technological history represented in this "Auction of Firsts" stretch from a replica of Blaise Pascal's 17th century mechanical calculator to the machines that brought about revolutions in recording, encryption, and, of course, personal computing.

Another Apple first in the May 25 auction is one of the first mouse-controlled systems, the Lisa-1. It had a very short run in the 1980s before giving way to the more reliable Lisa-2 and eventually, the Macintosh. Breker estimates it will fetch up to $40,000 at auction.

The MITS Altair 8800 from 1974 pre-dated Apple and is often credited with kicking off the age of the PC. The Altair made headlines in early 1975 and also inspired Jobs and Woz, Bill Gates and Paul Allen, and many hilarious portrayals of computers in early 1980s Hollywood flicks.

IRS officials in Washington were involved in targeting of conservative groups

By Juliet Eilperin and Zachary A. Goldfarb , Updated: Monday, May 13, 8:09 PMInternal Revenue Service officials in Washington and at least two other offices were involved with investigating conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status, making clear that the effort reached well beyond the branch in Cincinnati that was initially blamed, according to documents obtained by The Washington Post.

IRS officials at the agency's Washington headquarters sent queries to conservative groups asking about their donors and other aspects of their operations, while officials in the El Monte and Laguna Niguel offices in California sent similar questionnaires to tea-party-affiliated groups, the documents show.

IRS employees in Cincinnati told conservatives seeking the status of "social welfare" groups that a task force in Washington was overseeing their applications, according to interviews with the activists.

Lois G. Lerner, who oversees tax-exempt groups for the IRS, told reporters Friday that the "absolutely inappropriate" actions were undertaken by "front-line people" working in Cincinnati to target groups with "tea party," "patriot" or "9/12" in their names.

In one instance, however, Ron Bell, an IRS employee, informed a lawyer representing a conservative group focused on voter fraud that the application was under review in Washington. On several other occasions, IRS officials in Washington and California sent conservative groups detailed questionnaires about their voter outreach and other activities, according to the documents.

"For the IRS to say it was some low-level group in Cincinnati is simply false," saidCleta Mitchell, a partner in the law firmFoley & Lardner who sought to communicate with IRS headquarters about the delay in granting tax-exempt status to True the Vote.

Moreover, details of the IRS's efforts to target conservative groups reached the highest levels of the agency in May 2012, far earlier than has been disclosed, according to Republican congressional aides briefed by the IRS and the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration -(TIGTA) on the details of their reviews.

Then-Commissioner Douglas Shulman, a George W. Bush appointee who stepped down in November, received a briefing from the TIGTA about what was happening in the Cincinnati office in May 2012, the aides said. His deputy and the agency's current acting commissioner, Steven T. Miller, also learned about the matter that month, the aides said.

The officials did not share details with Republican lawmakers who had been demanding to know whether the IRS was targeting conservative groups, Republicans said.

"I wrote to the IRS three times last year after hearing concerns that conservative groups were being targeted," Sen. Orrin G. Hatch (Utah), the ranking Republican on the Senate Finance Committee, said in a statement Monday. "In response to the first letter I sent with some of my colleagues, Steven Miller, the current Acting IRS Commissioner, responded that these groups weren't being targeted."

"Knowing what we know now," he added, "the IRS was at best being far from forth coming, or at worst, being deliberately dishonest with Congress."
As new details emerged Monday, Democrats and Republicans alike decried the agency's actions as an unacceptable abuse of power.

In a news conference Monday, President Obama said he learned of the investigating in media reports on Friday and has "no patience with it."

"If in fact IRS personnel engaged in the kind of practices that have been reported on, and were intentionally targeting conservative groups, then that's outrageous," Obama said. "And there's no place for it. And they have to be held fully accountable."

White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters Monday that the White House counsel's office learned of an upcoming IRS inspector general's report on April 22 as part of a routine notification but had not received access to the report.

On Capitol Hill, two Senate panels - the Finance Committee and the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations - announced Monday that they will investigate. The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and the Ways and Means Committee have been looking into reports of IRS attempts to single out organizations on the right for heightened scrutiny. Ways and Means has called IRS officials to testify Friday.

"These actions by the IRS are an outrageous abuse of power and a breach of the public's trust," said Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.). "The IRS will now be the ones put under additional scrutiny."

Separately, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Rep. Mike Turner (R-Ohio) introducedcompanion bills Monday that would require the IRS to fire any employee found "willfully" violating "the constitutional rights of a taxpayer," according to statements by both lawmakers. The bills also would make them criminally liable for their actions.

Even as Obama vowed that his administration "will make sure that we find out exactly what happened on this," however, the IRS offered no new information on how it selected which groups to single out for scrutiny.

The White House is legally barred from contacting the IRS about a tax matter, under a prohibition adopted after the Watergate scandal. And although it can contact the Treasury Department about tax issues, neither Treasury nor the IRS can disclose specific taxpayer information. The IRS can release information about a petition for tax-
exempt status only after it has been approved.

Obama is not in a position to remove Lerner, a career official who can be terminated for cause only under normal civil service proceedings. The IRS has two political appointees: the commissioner, who serves a five-year term, and the chief counsel.

As the IRS came under broader political attack Monday, more details surfaced on how the exempt-organizations division struggled to determine which nonprofits should receive "social welfare" status after the 2010 Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission ruling. That decision, which allowed corporations and unions to raise and spend un-limited amounts of money on elections, opened the door for groups to accept undisclosed contributions as long as their "primary purpose" was not politics.

In a Jan. 9, 2012, letter to the Richmond Tea Party, IRS specialist Stephen Seok asked questions including "the names of the donors, contributors and grantors," as well as the size of the contributions and grants, and when they were given.

Richmond Tea Party President Larry Nordvig, whose group applied for tax-exempt status in December 2009 and received it in July 2012, said the extended inquiry had "a very chilling effect" on how much money the group could raise because its donors preferred anonymity.

The Wetumpka Tea Party of Alabama experienced a two-year delay after submitting its initial application.

Becky Gerritson, a 44-year-old stay-at-home mother and the group's president, said the IRS sent a questionnaire asking for the names of all volunteers, donor identification and contribution amounts, the names of any legislators its members had communicated with directly or indirectly, and the contents of all speeches its members had made, among a long list of other details.

"I was outraged," Gerritson said. "Being an election year, I felt like it was intimidation."

The group did not provide the information. Approval came only after the group sought help from the American Center for Law and Justice, which threatened a lawsuit against the IRS, Gerritson said.

Although some of the groups were explicitly labeled "tea party" or "patriot," others that came under intense scrutiny were focused on challenging the Affordable Care Act - known by many as Obamacare - or the integrity of federal elections.

In a June 3, 2011, letter to the IRS, Mitchell questioned the agency's motivations for delaying recognition of one of her clients who had filed nearly two years earlier, writing, "Is the opposition to Obamacare and the takeover of America's healthcare system by the government the reason that this application has been held up and not approved?"

Catherine Engelbrecht, president of the Houston-based True the Vote, first filed for tax-exempt status in July 2010. At one point, Engelbrecht - who is still awaiting a determination from the IRS regarding her voting rights organization and a separate tea party group, King Street Patriots - said an IRS employee informed her: "I'm just doing what Washington is telling me to do. I'm just asking what they want me to ask."

The IRS did not respond to requests for comment Monday.
