Apple Avoids Paying $17 Million In Taxes Every Day Through A Ballsy But Genius Tax Avoidance Scheme

1. Almost all of Apple's foreign operations are run through an Irish company with no employees.

The company told investigators that it lost all records concerning why Apple Operations International was originally set up in 1980, and why all of Apple global sales go through it. You might have a few ideas why if you keep reading.

2. Apple pays 2%-or less-in corporate income tax in Ireland.

The already low-tax country gives Apple special treatment with a negotiated 2% income tax rate. But that's just the top-line number: Between 2009 and 2011, one Irish subsidiary, Apple Sales International, earned $38 billion and paid $21 million in taxes, for an effective rate of .06%.

3. Apple Operations International, which provided 30% of Apple's worldwide net profits from 2009 to 2011, doesn't pay taxes anywhere.

This move is devilishly brilliant: The US decides if it can tax you based on where you incorporate your company. Ireland decides if it can tax you based on the location of the people managing the company. So if you incorporate a subsidiary in Ireland, and manage it from the US, you don't (so far) have to pay taxes in either country. And that's exactly what Apple has done, not filing a tax return for AOI anywhere in the world in the last five years.

4. Apple's US profits keep ending up in Ireland, too.

The report alleges more than just the avoidance of US taxes on foreign sales of Apple's products. It also argues that Apple is effectively sending US profits to its Irish subsidiaries, too. How? Transfer pricing. Apple has set up a cost-sharing agreement with its Irish subsidiaries that gives them a disproportionate share of the profit from research and development that occurs in the United States. From 2009 to 2012, Apple allocated $4 billion in R&D costs to its US unit, which had $38.7 billion in profits, while its Irish subsidiary had $4.9 billion in R&D costs-and $74 billion in profits.

5. Most of the $102 billion Apple is keeping "overseas" is in US banks.

Just as its Irish companies are managed by US employees, Apple's Irish cash is mostly kept in US financial institutions, largely managed by Braeburn Capital, Apple's financial engineering nexus in Nevada.

6. The magic of "check-the-box" makes whole companies disappear

One of the most favored tax loop-holes for multinationals is known as "check-the-box." It allows companies to instruct the government to completely disregard certain foreign subsidiaries for tax purposes. Apple's main Irish subsidiary, AOI, checks the box for its entire global distribution network. This allowed the company to avoid paying $12.5 billion in taxes that would have been assessed for foreign sales by its network of global distributors.

7. Apple is seemingly terrible at estimating its own taxes

In annual reports between 2009 and 2011, the company told investors it was setting aside $13.7 billion to pay federal taxes-but it has actually paid only $5.3 billion. Those set-asides are only advance estimates, but it's pretty strange that each year they're off by many billions of dollars. As a result, Apple's actual US tax rate is only 20.1%, much lower than the 24% to 32% it said it was paying. Absent this congressional investigation, we wouldn't know the difference.

Apple Sales International (ASI) is a second Irish affiliate. It is the repository for all of Apple's offshore intellectual property rights.

ASI buys Apple's finished products from contracted manufacturers in China - think Foxconn - and resells them at a major markup to other Apple affiliates in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, India and the Pacific.
Although ASI is an Irish incorporated entity and the purchaser of the goods, only a small percentage of Apple's manufactured products ever entered Ireland.

Upon arrival, the products were resold by ASI to the Apple distribution affiliate that took ownership of the goods.

Before 2012, ASI had no employees despite $38 billion in income over three years.
Apple's cost sharing arrangement facilitated the shift of $74 billion in worldwide profits away from the United States from 2009 to 2012.

ASI's parent company is Apple Operations Europe Inc. Together they own the intellectual property rights to Apple goods sold offshore.

Like AOI, ASI claims to be a tax resident of nowhere. It's not obligated to pay taxes to any nation.
Apple Sales International pays very, very little in global taxes:

Here's Who Pays the Bill for Apple's Tax Avoidance

The victims, meanwhile, are ordinary taxpayers who fund most of the federal government. During the 1950s, individual income taxes typically accounted for about 60% of the government's tax revenue, with corporate taxes covering the other 40 percent. By 1970 individuals paid 73% of all taxes. By 1990 it was 83 percent, with the peak coming in 2009, when corporations claimed steep losses and individuals paid 87% of all taxes. By 2012, that had drifted down to 82%, with corporations paying 18%.

By Michael Hirsh
National JournalKABUL, Afghanistan - None of President Hamid Karzai's top advisers knew that he had been receiving tens of millions of dollars in secret cash from the CIA, Afghanistan's senior anticorruption official said, and he added that he did not believe the Afghan leader's claim that he had been giving the agency regular receipts for the money.

Mohammad Yasin Osmani, the head of the Independent Joint Anti-Corruption Monitoring and Evaluation Committee, said in an interview last week that he and 39 other advisers who audit expenditures throughout the government "were not aware" of the decade-old payouts, which Karzai acknowledged at a news conference in Kabul on May 4.

But Osmani, like other Afghan government officials, was reluctant to criticize Karzai or accuse him of personal corruption, highlighting a growing friction between Afghanistan and the International Security Assistance Force led by the United States over an issue that threatens to upend the rebuilding effort here, and possibly U.S. plans for a post-2014 "strategic partnership" with Afghanistan. Many Afghan officials and politicians contend that their nation's reputation for rampant corruption is exaggerated-according to Transparency International, a monitoring group, Afghanistan is the most corrupt nation on earth, along with Myanmar, North Korea, and Somalia. They say that more to blame are poor procedures by ISAF and Washington that hand aid money directly over to graft-plagued contractors and subcontractors.

Ashraf Ghani, a former finance minister who is currently the chairman of the Afghan Transition Coordination Commission, said the Karzai cash controversy is viewed in Washington as simply more evidence of Afghanistan's corrupt ways. But he asked: "What does it say about the way the American government conducts itself?"

It is, perhaps, a fair point, especially coming after a decade in which the $60 billion American rebuilding effort in Iraq was deemed hopelessly corrupt-in part because, Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction Stuart Bowen concluded in his final report in March, in many cases U.S. officials did not consult with Iraqis closely or deeply enough to determine what reconstruction projects were really needed. Now the Afghans are saying the same thing. Even as the security transition to the Afghan National Security Forces is said to be going more smoothly, civilian transition from U.S. to Afghan oversight is a disaster, Finance Minister Omar Zakhilwal said in an interview. "The transition has not happened," he said, although as the ISAF-formed "provincial reconstruction teams" are being dismantled.

U.S. aid rules have themselves become a source of corruption, Osmani says. Too many private contractors skim off the top as they subcontract a job out, a practice that the Afghan government itself would not permit, he says. Beyond that, "nobody has the right to monitor international community projects," and yet international auditors are often too leery of going to insecure areas. So little monitoring occurs. And in some cases U.S.-built projects appear to be following the pattern in Iraq. Osmani cited a case in which the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction, John Sopko, criticized a $73 million contract given by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to DynCorp International for a shoddily built Afghan National Army base in Kunduz Province. "They didn't allow the government to go out and supervise the project!" Osmani said.

The finger-pointing on both sides suggests a long-married couple-10 years of geopolitical marriage in this case-who are fed up with each other but can't bear the idea of divorce. And the mood is getting testier. In a recent report, Sopko accused the Afghan government of "targeting American contractors with unjust taxes and intimidation." Zakhilwal says the allegations are false. Even in the case of Afghanistan's biggest economic weakness, the heroin trade, Afghan officials say the corruption is far greater outside Afghanistan than inside. "From 2002 to 2009, $420 billion to $460 billion was made by international dealers , while $18 billion made by the Afghan mafia," says Ghani, citing a report by the U.N. Office on Drugs and Crime. "The illegal economy is totally integrated into globalization: with credit and transport."

The question of whether Afghanistan is just too corrupt to save has shaped the entire U.S. approach to post-9/11 Afghanistan, tilting the Obama administration gradually away from "nation-building" and toward a more pared-down counterterrorism strategy. In February 2008, three U.S. senators who are today the Obama administration's key foreign-policy heavyweights-Joe Biden, Chuck Hagel, and John Kerry-had a crucial dinner with Karzai at the Afghan president's palace. After Hagel raised the subject of corruption in Karzai's government, including runaway graft and narcotics connections, Karzai replied, "My dear senator, there is no corruption in my government." Things then got testier. The American visitors insisted they had a list of corrupt officials and that Karzai's brother was at the top of it, but the Afghan leader disingenuously denied it all-until Biden, by the dessert course, threw down his napkin. "This dinner is over," he said, walking out. Hagel and Kerry followed.

Biden never really regained his trust in Karzai, and by 2009, after he became Barack Obama's vice president, he turned into the new administration's No. 1 skeptic about nation-building. The doubts about Karzai, culminating in charges of election fraud, also poisoned the Afghan president's relations with the late Richard Holbrooke, Obama's special representative for Afghanistan. Karzai continues to deny charges of personal corruption, including about the CIA money. "This money was not given to warlords," he said at the May 4 news conference in Kabul. "The major part of this money was spent on government employees such as our guards.... It has been paid to individuals, not movements.... We give receipts for all these expenditures to the U.S. government."

Even Osmani is skeptical about that last point. Asked whether he believed there were "receipts," he responded, "No." But there are clearly two sides to every corruption story, and the U.S. and Afghan governments need to get their stories straight if the "partnership" is to survive after 2014.

SYRIA TRANSITION SUPPORT ACT INTRODUCED BY MENENDEZ, CORKER PASSES SENATE FOREIGN RELATIONS COMMITTEEBipartisan Legislation Approved by a Vote of 15 to 3Tuesday, May 21, 2013

Bill Provides for Lethal Aid and Training to Vetted Syrian Opposition, Sanctions Weapon Sales and Petroleum Sales to the Assad Regime, While Delivering Humanitarian Assistance and Planning for a Post-Assad Syria

WASHINGTON, DC - The Syria Transition Support Act, bipartisan legislation introduced by U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and Ranking Member Bob Corker (R-TN) passed the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. The legislation plans for a post-Assad Syria by offering humanitarian assistance to the Syrian people, limited lethal and non-lethal assistance and training to vetted Syrian groups.

"The situation in Syria is critical for Syrians, for the region, and for the U.S. effort to counter extremism. More than 80,000 Syrians have died in the last two years, the number of refugees now tops 1.5 million; the conflict is spilling over into Lebanon and Iraq; and extremists groups with links to al-Qaeda are exploiting the conflict and gaining ground in a state with large chemical weapon stockpiles. The time to act and turn the tide against Assad is now. This legislation will provide critical support to the Syrian opposition through provision of military assistance, training, and additional humanitarian support."

"Given the risks to the U.S. and the region from an extremist takeover in Syria, I thank my colleagues for advancing our bill that seeks a better outcome by establishing a more focused U.S. strategy without new spending or authorizing American military force. This effort has always been about more than the arming and training of vetted opposition groups; it is about shifting the momentum on the ground toward moderate forces while helping them build consensus for a new government post Assad," said Corker. "In order for the necessary political transition to take place, moderate forces must gain the upper hand, and Assad must doubt his chances of survival. This bill moves that effort down the road in a serious, measured way, so I hope it is something my congressional colleagues and the president will embrace. "

The Menendez-Corker legislation includes six key elements.

o Authority to provide arms, military training and non-lethal supplies to the Syrian armed opposition: Groups that have gone through a thorough vetting process by the U.S. government, meeting certain criteria on human-rights, terrorism, and non-proliferation, would be eligible. A presidential waiver is included allowing for the distribution of anti-aircraft defensive systems with strict limitations.

o Creation of a $250 million transition fund each year through FY2015 drawn from funds otherwise appropriated for regional transition support: To assist the civilian opposition in early transition institution building and maintenance of existing institutions, such as preserving security institutions, preventing regional spillover, promoting government formation, supporting transition justice, and reconciliation efforts.

o Sanctions on arms and oil sales to Assad: Targeting any person that the President of the United States determines has knowingly participated in or facilitated a transaction related to the sale or transfer of military equipment, arms, petroleum, or petroleum products to the Assad regime.

o Broad authority for humanitarian assistance: To ensure the administration is not hampered in its efforts to provide humanitarian aid to the Syrian people. This section does not authorize any new or additional funding.

o Administration strategy: Requiring the administration to work with Congress and keep it fully apprised of strategy towards Syria, including working through the international community and Russia to find a political settlement.

o Amendment to the Syria Accountability Act: To allow for sanctions removal once a transitional government is in place and certain terrorism and WMD criteria have been met.

Media being denied FOI requests

Media being denied FOI requests for materials in David Gregory's ammo magazine case

If there is one lesson I have learned over my decade and a half
at Judicial Watch, it is this: you must never overestimate the hypocrisy
of the Left--especially in covering for their own.

Lest you have even the slightest doubt, cast an eye to the outrageous
behavior of District of Columbia Attorney General Irvin B. Nathan when
he allowed NBC-TV's David Gregory to walk away scot free for a firearm
offense, even while openly acknowledging "the clarity of the violation
of the law."

We don't know for certain what prompted Nathan to decline to prosecute
Gregory. We do know that, according to the Washington Post, until the
Republican sweep in 2010, he had been the House Democrats' top lawyer.
We also know that he was appointed attorney general by D.C. Democrat
Mayor Vincent Gray. And we know that some legal experts have questioned
why Nathan did not recuse himself from the case when it was discovered
that he had a personal relationship with David Gregory's wife. Clearly
more information was required.

On January 14, 2013, William A. Jacobson, founder and author of the
outstanding blog website, Legal Insurrection, submitted a District of
Columbia Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the D.C.
Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) and Office of the Attorney General
(OAG) seeking access to the following records:

 1. The January 9, 2013 letter from Lee Levine on behalf of David
Gregory, referenced in the letter datedJanuary 11, 2013 from Attorney
General Irvin B. Nathan to Mr. Levine which was publicly disclosed on
that date.

 2. All communications between the District of Columbia Office of
Attorney General and/or Metropolitan Police Department, on the one hand,
and legal counsel for David Gregory and/or NBC News, on the other hand,
with regard to the incident involving the display on television by Mr.
Gregory of an alleged high-capacity ammunition clip (the "Gregory
incident").

3. All documents in the possession of the MPD and OAG regarding the
Gregory incident, to the extent not exempted from disclosure under
applicable law, including but not limited to witness statements,
evidence review and possession records, interview notes, and forensic
testing.

On February 20, 2013, OAG informed Jacobson that it was withholding
certain requested records, including the January 9, 2013, letter from
NBC attorney Lee Levine, as well as responsive emails between OAG and
MPD. (We just learned the letter from Levine was made available to the
media, but is being withheld from us!)

The OAG also withheld in their entirety an affidavit and a warrant
responsive to the Jacobson FOIA request. On April 17, 2013, MPD informed
Jacobson that it was withholding responsive records as well. This past
week, Judicial Watch filed a FOIA lawsuit on Jacobson's behalf asking
that the Court to declare OAG and MDP in violation of the law and to
order them to produce the records without further delay.

The known facts in the Gregory case are simple. On Sunday December 23,
2012, the "Meet the Press" host interviewed the National Rifle
Association's Wayne LaPierre concerning firearms policy in the United
States. During the course of the interview, Gregory exhibited a
high-capacity ammunition clip. The possession of such an ammunition clip
is in violation of the law of the District of Columbia.

Gregory displayed the ammunition clip despite the fact that, according
to the D.C. Office of the Attorney General,"NBC was clearly and timely
advised by an MPD (Metropolitan Police Department) employee that its
plans to exhibit on the broadcast a high capacity magazine would violate
D.C. law, and there was no contrary advice from any other federal
official."

Some argued that, in accordance with D.C. law, Gregory should have been
charged with a weapons violation and taken into custody, as other
alleged offenders have been. The MPD failed to do so, however, and in
early January announced that it had completed its two-week investigation
and presented the case to the OAG "for a determination of the
prosecutorial merit of the case."

On January 11, 2013, after just two days of deliberation, Attorney
General Nathan sent a letter to NBC saying that his office would not
prosecute Gregory, "despite the clarity of the violation of this
important law." The Attorney General added, "There is no doubt of the
gravity of the illegal conduct in this matter..."

Yet, in what surely must be one of the most glaring non sequiturs I've
seen, Nathan then refused to prosecute Gregory. And the Washington
Times' outstanding editorialist Emily Miller well summed up the
absurdity of the situation when Gregory first committed his violation:

The District came up with its overly restrictive laws in response to the
Supreme Court overturning the capital city's 30-year gun ban. The
statutes shouldn't apply just to regular people but to the rich and
powerful as well. The District should either repeal its over-the-top
restrictions or send a squad car to take David Gregory into custody.

The way Gregory's prosecution decision was handled undermines confidence
in the fair administration of justice. If Gregory shouldn't be
prosecuted then no one should be - and the law should be rescinded. Our
client Prof. Jacobsen also is seeking justice in the public interest:

"The documents being withheld will help shed light on the details of
this highly publicized non-prosecution, which raised issues as to
whether well-connected and famous D.C. insiders were treated as any
other citizen in a similar situation. I appreciate Judicial Watch
assisting in this search for the truth."

Let's hope the courts put an end to this cover-up.

U.S. designates Syrian rebel commanders as terrorists

The
State Department on Thursday added the leader of an al Qaeda-linked
Syrian rebel group to its global terror list, freezing any assets he
might have in the U.S. and making it illegal for Americans or
U.S.-based companies to do business with him.

"This
will help choke their finances," a State department official told
The Washington Times.

The
move, the official said, is part of an effort by the United States
and its European allies to try and marginalize the al-Nusra Front,
the extremist militia which has been among the most successful rebel
force on the ground in Syria - both militarily and in terms of the
governance it offers the people who live in areas captured from the
Damascus government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad during the
country's increasingly bloody two-year civil war.

al-Jawlani is the leader of the al Nusra front, the State Department
said in a statement Thursday.

"He
has stated in videos that his ultimate goal is the overthrow of the
Syrian regime and the institution of Islamist shari'a law
throughout the country," the statement said, adding that he had
been specially tasked by al Qaeda in Iraq to form al Nusra as a front
organization behind which al Qaeda supporters could operate in Syria.

Earlier
this year, Mr. al-Jawlani went public with the link, saying the
subterfuge was necessary for security reasons.

"Under
al-Jawlani's leadership, al-Nusrah Front has carried out multiple
suicide attacks throughout Syria," said the State Department. The
group has specialized in large car bombings in
civilian neighborhoods,
outside police buildings, and security headquarters in Damascus and
other cities. "Many of these attacks have killed innocent Syrian
civilians," said the department.

More
than 70,000 have died in the conflict, according to the United
Nations.

As
the violent stalemate in Syria continues, pressure has increased on
the United States and its allies to begin arming the rebels.

But
there are concerns that arms might find their way to extremist groups
like al-Nusra. Even more mainstream groups like the Omar al-Farooq
Brigade have faced criticism from human rights groups, most recently
when a
vidieo surfaced o f
one of their commanders eating the heart of a dead Syrian soldier and
urging his followers to "kill the Alawites" and "eat their
hearts."

Mr.
al-Assad and some of his government and supporters are members of
Syria's Shiite minority sect, the Alawites. The Omar al-Farooq
Brigade, the al-Nusra Front and almost all other Syrian rebel
militias are Sunni Muslims and the conflict has begun to take on an
increasingly sectarian tone.

Earlier
this week, London's Daily Telegraph reported that Britain and
France were leading a push at the United Nations to get al-Nusra and
its leaders designated by the Security Council's al Qaeda sanctions
committee, which would impose a banking and asset freeze worldwide.

SYRIAN PERSPECTIVE Affirms the capture of over 76 foreign agents from Turkey, France, Lebanon, Israel.

An SAA sharpshooter waits for a spotter in Barzeh Town.

URGENT: Syrian Army officers, fumigators and MI agents have now taken control of several command-and-control centress in the central zone of the city.

What they found was unbelievable .

Besides reams of incriminating documents conclusively demonstrating the connivance of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Lebanese Forces, the Mustaqbal Movement, Turkey, France, the United States and Britain, 76 foreign officers were apprehended in several tunnels as they cowered like frightened moles.

The nationalities told the whole story. SyrPer has confirmed that the Al-Manaar report, published today in Lebanon is accurate but not exhaustive.

Wael has received information that French intelligence officers who spoke North African Arabic; "Israeli" agents ( "katsas" ), operatives from Sameer Ja'ja's Lebanese Forces who were trained in Israel and who spoke Modern European Settler Hebrew, Turkish agents working for the MIT, spies and gun-smugglers who were paid by Sa'ad Hariri, were all CAPTURED ALIVE.

In addition to this, our readers will be delighted to know that several agents from Saudi Arabia and Qatar were also found and are under interrogation as we write.

Wael can only speculate as to why these agents were found.

But SyrPer believes that the rebels belief of the Syrian Army's planned delay of the invasion of Al-Qusayr must have played a role. Again, we must also remember that the SAA closed off entry and exit routes in and out of Lebanon. It may be that these foreign terrorists and spies were trapped and were simply unable to get out.

Found among the foreign agents and terrorists were "very advanced satellite communication devices with ultra- sophisticated encoding mechanisms"; SAA sappers found stores of C-4 explosives; millions of Saudi and Qatari riyaals, and American dollars.

THIS IS AN UNFOLDING STORY THAT MIGHT BE KEPT UNDER WRAPS BY MOD AND MI. WE WILL DO OUR BEST TO GET MORE INTEL ABOUT THIS. ZAF

The Large Families that rule the world

Some
people have started realizing that there are large financial groups
that dominate the world. Forget the political intrigues, conflicts,
revolutions and wars. It is not pure chance. Everything has been planned
for a long time.
Some call it "conspiracy theories" or
New World Order. Anyway, the key to understanding the current political
and economic events is a restricted core of families who have
accumulated more wealth and power.
We are speaking of 6, 8 or maybe 12 families who truly dominate the world. Know that it is a mystery difficult to unravel.

We will not be far from the truth by
citing Goldman Sachs, Rockefellers, Loebs Kuh and Lehmans in New York,
the Rothschilds of Paris and London, the Warburgs of Hamburg, Paris and
Lazards Israel Moses Seifs Rome.

Many people have heard of the
Bilderberg Group, Illuminati or the Trilateral Commission. But what are
the names of the families who run the world and have control of states
and international organizations like the UN, NATO or the IMF?
To try to answer this question, we can
start with the easiest: inventory, the world's largest banks, and see
who the shareholders are and who make the decisions.

The world's largest companies are now: Bank of America, JP Morgan, Citigroup, Wells Fargo, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley.

Let us now review who their shareholders are.

Bank of America:
State
Street Corporation, Vanguard Group, BlackRock, FMR (Fidelity), Paulson,
JP Morgan, T. Rowe, Capital World Investors, AXA, Bank of NY, Mellon.

JP Morgan:
State Street Corp., Vanguard Group, FMR,
BlackRock, T. Rowe, AXA, Capital World Investor, Capital Research
Global Investor, Northern Trust Corp. and Bank of Mellon.

Citigroup:
State
Street Corporation, Vanguard Group, BlackRock, Paulson, FMR, Capital
World Investor, JP Morgan, Northern Trust Corporation, Fairhome Capital
Mgmt and Bank of NY Mellon.

Wells Fargo:
Berkshire
Hathaway, FMR, State Street, Vanguard Group, Capital World Investors,
BlackRock, Wellington Mgmt, AXA, T. Rowe and Davis Selected Advisers.

We can see that now there appears to be a nucleus present in all banks: State Street Corporation, Vanguard Group, BlackRock and FMR (Fidelity). To avoid repeating them, we will now call them the "big four"

Goldman Sachs:

"The big four," Wellington, Capital World Investors, AXA, Massachusetts Financial Service and T. Rowe.

Morgan Stanley:
"The
big four," Mitsubishi UFJ, Franklin Resources, AXA, T. Rowe, Bank of NY
Mellon e Jennison Associates. Rowe, Bank of NY Mellon and Jennison
Associates.

We can just about always verify the
names of major shareholders. To go further, we can now try to find out
the shareholders of these companies and shareholders of major banks
worldwide.

Bank of NY Mellon:
Davis
Selected, Massachusetts Financial Services, Capital Research Global
Investor, Dodge, Cox, Southeatern Asset Mgmt. and ... "The big four."

State Street Corporation (one of the "big four"):
Massachusetts
Financial Services, Capital Research Global Investor, Barrow Hanley,
GE, Putnam Investment and ... The "big four" (shareholders themselves!).

BlackRock (another of the "big four"):
PNC, Barclays e CIC.

Who is behind the PNC? FMR (Fidelity), BlackRock, State Street, etc.
And behind Barclays? BlackRock

And
we could go on for hours, passing by tax havens in the Cayman Islands,
Monaco or the legal domicile of Shell companies in Liechtenstein. A
network where companies are always the same, but never a name of a
family.
In short: the eight largest U.S.
financial companies (JP Morgan, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Citigroup,
Goldman Sachs, U.S. Bancorp, Bank of New York Mellon and Morgan
Stanley) are 100% controlled by ten shareholders and we have four
companies always present in all decisions: BlackRock, State Street, Vanguard and Fidelity.

In
addition, the Federal Reserve is comprised of 12 banks, represented by a
board of seven people, which comprises representatives of the "big
four," which in turn are present in all other entities.
In short, the Federal Reserve is
controlled by four large private companies: BlackRock, State Street,
Vanguard and Fidelity. These companies control U.S. monetary policy (and
world) without any control or "democratic" choice. These companies
launched and participated in the current worldwide economic crisis and
managed to become even more enriched.
To finish, a look at some of the companies controlled by this "big four" group

Alcoa Inc.

Altria Group Inc.

American International Group Inc.

AT&T Inc.

Boeing Co.

Caterpillar Inc.

Coca-Cola Co.

DuPont & Co.

Exxon Mobil Corp.

General Electric Co.

General Motors Corporation

Hewlett-Packard Co.

Home Depot Inc.

Honeywell International Inc.

Intel Corp.

International Business Machines Corp

Johnson & Johnson

JP Morgan Chase & Co.

McDonald's Corp.

Merck & Co. Inc.

Microsoft Corp.

3M Co.

Pfizer Inc.

Procter & Gamble Co.

United Technologies Corp.

Verizon Communications Inc.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc.

Time Warner

Walt Disney

Viacom

Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation.,

CBS Corporation

NBC Universal

The same "big four" control the vast majority of European companies counted on the stock exchange.

In addition, all these people run the
large financial institutions, such as the IMF, the European Central Bank
or the World Bank, and were "trained" and remain "employees" of the
"big four" that formed them.
The names of the families that control the "big four", never appear.

More on the teen expelled and charged for being a lesbian

KAITLYN Hunt, 18, sounds like your typical American teenager - a cheerleader with top grades, a trainee nurse and recipient of the 'most school spirit' award. But now everything has changed. Ms Hunt is facing child abuse charges and two years imprisonment in her Florida home because of a consenting same-sex relationship she had with a 15-year-old peer which began when she was 17.

The charges are being pressed by the girlfriend's parents and the Hunt family allege it is because they blame Kate for their daughter's homosexuality.

"They were out to destroy my daughter, they feel like my daughter 'made' their daughter gay," Kelley Hunt Smith, Kate's mother, said in a post on Facebook, adding that they went straight to police with the charges.

"They are teenagers in high school experimenting with their sexuality - with mutual consent. And even if their daughter is gay, who cares? She is still their daughter," Ms Hunt Smith said.

"These people never came to us as parents, never tried to speak with us ... and tell us they had a problem with the girls dating."

The Assistant State Attorney last week offered Ms Hunt a plea bargain, where she could plead guilty to the felony of child abuse and spend two years under house arrest plus one year of probation. She could also be placed on a sex offender register.

The case has sparked a huge backlash in the United States since the family went public last week. An online petition started by the family that demand the prosecution be stopped has garnered more than 46,000 signatures.

The petition says: "(She is) facing serious felonies - all because she is in love" and many signatories believe it would not have occurred if she wasn't a lesbian.

Signer Nathan Johnstone, from Melbourne, Florida, said: "Being gay and in a same-sex relationship, I find this ridiculous and appalling. I highly doubt this would be happening if it were a 'traditional' relationship."

Steven R. Hunt, Kate's father, told The Examiner that the relationship had caused controversy at the school from the beginning. Ms Hunt was dropped from her basketball team, he said, because the coach feared it would spark "drama".

Weeks before Kaitlyn graduated, her girlfriend's family successfully petitioned the school to have her expelled.

The family, who took the issue public last week, is hoping that the controversy will force the State Attorney to improve the plea offer.

Kaitlyn has until May 24 to decide whether she will accept the plea deal. If she does not accept the deal she will appear in court on June 20.

I am a mere facilitator of information. It's not really up to me to provide a certain opinion on most things.....but I think this is bullshit. If this wasn't motivated by homophobia the parents would've sat down together and talked shit out. Where was that? Exactly. The state wants to put it's greedy, filthy hands on any money it can get....even if that means destroying a young girl's life.

IDF jeep fired upon and hit from Syrian fire, IDF returns fire and destroys the firing post

Here is some background to acquaint posters of the current situation on the Golan.
On 2 November 2012, three Syrian Army tanks crossed into the UN-administered demilitarized zone and clashed with rebels near the village of Beer Ajam. During the clashes, stray bullets hit an Israeli patrol in the area. Israel responded on 5 November by filing a complaint with the United Nations Security Council, claiming Syria violated the 1974 Agreement on Disengagement signed following the Yom Kippur War. The terms of the 1974 armistice prevent the Syrian military from conducting operations within the DMZ.

On 11 November, a mortar shell from Syria's Quneitra Governorate landed near an Israeli military outpost in the Golan Heights.

On 12 November 2012, the Israeli Golan was shelled, after which the Israeli Defense Forces returned fire hitting a Syrian mobile artillery. The Israeli shelling of a Syrian territory occurred for the first time since the Yom Kippur War.

On 17 November there was another incident where Syrian army fire hit an IDF patrol near the DMZ, damaging one jeep although no injuries were reported.

On 18 November 2012, a shot was fired towards the Israeli soldiers in the central Golan Heights.

This was all well before any strike on Syria. There has been several more cases of IDF patrols coming under fire and Israel being bombarded from Syria since, with the most recent one posted here.

An IDF jeep was fired upon during the night (21/5/13) from Syria, damaging it. This is a continued blatant violation of the 1974 armistice with no repercussions by the U.N.

Israel finally reacted to these provocations and fired a single SPIKE-NLOS missile at the Syrian post where the fire was coming from for the last three days at Israel and IDF troops, the outpost was destroyed.

Following three consecutive nights in which Syrian gunfire hits IDF unit in same Golan area, IDF fires back at Syrian post

IDF Spokesperson's Unit reported Tuesday that gunfire from Syria hit an IDF unit in the Golan Heights, as had occurred on the two previous nights. No injuries were reported, but a patrol jeep was damaged.

The IDF retaliated by firing a Tamuz missile that destroyed the post from which the shots were fired.

The IDF estimated that due to a recurring pattern of gunfire from the same Syrian area, directed at the same Israeli target and executed at roughly the same time at night, the gunfire was not the result of unintentional overspill and decided therefore to fire back.

The unit that was subjected to the gunfire was backed by numerous military forces, including aircraft, that helped with detecting the source responsible for the hits.

This is the third day in a row in which gunfire from Syria hits Israeli targets.

On both Monday and Sunday, an IDF force identified shooting from Syria in the direction of an open area in Israel. No injuries or damage were reported. The UN was informed of the incident.

Afterwards, the Assad regime tried to save face and came up with a shit lie:

Syria says destroyed Israeli vehicle

State television says Israeli vehicle crossed into Syrian territory, destroyed by Syrian troops; Israel denies

Syria said its troops destroyed an Israeli vehicle that crossed into its territory from the Israeli Golan Heights on Tuesday and warned that any attempt to violate its sovereignty would meet "immediate and firm retaliation".

Israel denied the report, saying one of its vehicles was hit by gunfire on its side of Golan ceasefire line, but the incident highlighted the potential for renewed conflict along a frontline that has been largely quiet for nearly four decades.

In a statement broadcast by Syrian state television, Syria's military leadership said its forces destroyed an Israeli vehicle that had crossed the ceasefire line, heading for the Syrian village of Bir al-Ajam.

The Israeli military said a vehicle had been damaged by gunfire from Syria but no Israeli soldiers were hurt. Israeli troops returned fire after the incident, it said.

The incident was the latest on an increasingly fraught frontier where Syrian officials have reportedly threatened to unleash Palestinian guerrillas in response to Israeli airstrikes near Damascus and several UN peacekeepers have been abducted by rebels.

At least they openly admitted finally that they blatantly ignore the 1974 armistice by attacking an IDF jeep on the Golan, and that it was them and not the rebels doing the attacks.

I mean, do they honestly think anyone is buying a story as ridiculous as theirs? Sure, a single Israeli jeep decides to invade Syria alone and attack a village all by itself and they manage to destroy it, with no IDF casualties, vehicles, etc as evidence... These jokers just completely lack even a basic sense of logic.

So, just to end this nonsense once and for all, the IDF Spokesperson showed the video of the Syrian outpost firing in the IDF jeep in Israel three times before being destroyed in turn.

The annotations are as follows:
1)- First time Syrian outpost MG firing at the IDF jeep in Israel.
2)- Second time Syrian outpost MG firing at the IDF jeep in Israel.
3)- Third time Syrian outpost MG firing at the IDF jeep in Israel.
4)- SPIKE NLOS missile accurately hits and destroys the Syrian bunker that was firing at the IDF jeep.

Fort Hood Jihadi Paid $278,000 (jizya) While Awaiting Trial

This murdering Muslim is paid over a quarter of a million dollars, while the hero cops who took him down were fired years ago.

Obama's approval ratings hovers at 50%.

America, you have lost your way.
Accused Fort Hood Shooter Paid $278,000 While Awaiting Trial NBC
Injured soldier outraged suspected shooter receives salary while his family financially struggles in recovery

The Department of Defense confirms to NBC 5 Investigates that accused Fort Hood shooter Major Nidal Hasan has been paid more than $278,000 since the Nov. 5, 2009 shooting that left 13 dead 32 injured.

The Department of Defense confirms to NBC 5 Investigates that accused Fort Hood shooter Major Nidal Hasan has now been paid more than $278,000 since the Nov. 5, 2009 shooting that left 13 dead 32 injured. The Army said under the Military Code of Justice, Hasan's salary cannot be suspended unless he is proven guilty.

If Hasan had been a civilian defense department employee, NBC 5 Investigates has learned, the Army could have suspended his pay after just seven days.

Personnel rules for most civilian government workers allow for "indefinite suspensions" in cases "when the agency has reasonable cause to believe that the employee has committed a crime for which a sentence of imprisonment may be imposed."

Meanwhile, more than three years later soldiers wounded in the mass shooting are fighting to receive the same pay and medical benefits given to those wounded in combat.

Retired Army Spc. Logan Burnett, a reservist who, in 2009, was soon to be deployed to Iraq, was shot three times when a gunman opened fire inside the Army Deployment Center.

"I honestly thought I was going to die in that building," said Burnett. "Just blood everywhere and then the thought of -- that's my blood everywhere."

Burnett nearly died. He's had more than a dozen surgeries since the shooting, and says post-traumatic stress still keeps him up at night.

Burnett is now fighting a new battle; only this one is against the U.S. Army.

The Army has not classified the wounds of the Ft. Hood victims as "combat related" and declines to label the shooting a "terrorist attack",

The "combat related" designation is an important one, for without it Burnett and other shooting victims are not given combat-related pay, they are not eligible for Purple Heart retirement or medical benefits given to other soldiers wounded either at war or during the Sept. 11, 2001 attack on the Pentagon.

As a result, Burnett, his wife Torey, and the families of other Fort Hood victims miss out on thousands of dollars of potential benefits and pay every year.

To Burnett the shooting felt like combat.

"You take three rounds and lose five good friends and watch seven other people get killed in front of you. Do you have another term that we can classify that as?" asked Burnett.

The Army has categorized the shooting as a case of "workplace violence."

"Sickens me. Absolutely sickens me. Workplace violence? I don't even know if I have the words to say," said Burnett.

"They don't need to be treated like this. They don't need to sit and fight every day for this benefit or that," said Torey Burnett.

As that fight continues, Burnett was stunned to see a letter detailing the more $278,000 Hasan has been paid since his arrest. NBC 5 Investigates received the letter from the Department of Defense in response to a request under the Freedom of Information Act.

"There have been times when my wife and I cannot afford groceries. We cannot afford gas in our car," Burnett said. "Literally, times where we ate Ramen noodles for weeks on end. This makes me sick to my stomach," said Burnett.

Burnett isn't alone in his outrage.

"We're giving the defendant in this case every benefit of the doubt. But yet we're not giving the benefits to the victims," said Rep. Thomas Rooney (R) Florida

Rooney, a former prosecutor at Fort Hood, recently signed a bi-partisan letter urging defense secretary Chuck Hagel to "...reclassify the victims' deaths and injuries as 'combat related'..."

The letter said the current situation has "...resulted in an embarrassing lack of care and treatment for the victims and their families."

"What happened here is not a case of workplace violence. What happened here was an attack on our military by a terrorist element specifically targeting our military, which just so happened to be in the United States of America," said Rooney.

Reports from the Federal Bureau of Investigation showed Hasan was communicating with a member of Al Qaida prior to the shooting. Additionally, the government's National Counterterrorism Center lists the shooting at Fort Hood as a "high fatality terrorist attack."

Rooney said he's also willing to consider whether Congress should change the rules, so the Army could suspend the pay of soldiers arrested for crimes against fellow soldiers.

Syrian Rebel Groups Fight Each Other

A wave
of tit-for-tat kidnappings and
infighting
between rival Islamic militant groups in the northern Syrian city of
Aleppo risks sparking large-scale internal fighting between rebels
after clashes killed at least nine
militants earlier this week, activists said Saturday.

The
director of the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights,
Rami Abdul-Rahman, said a coalition of rebel groups known as the
Judicial Council had accused another armed opposition faction, the
Ghurabaa al-Sham, of plundering factories in Aleppo's industrial
neighborhood. Aleppo, Syria's largest city and a former commercial
center, is split between rebel and government control.

Any
internal fighting between rebels in the city would play into the
hands of the Syrian goverment, which is fighting an opposition
dominated by extremists linked to al-Qaida network.

Aleppo,
a city of 3 million that was once a bastion of support for President
Bashar Assad, has been engulfed in heavy fighting since rebels
launched an assault there in July and captured several neighborhoods.
Over the past few weeks, regime forces have been pursuing an
offensive in the city, mainly focused on pushing the rebels from
around the international airport and a nearby military air base.

Abdul-Rahman
said tensions among rebel factions have been rising in
opposition-held areas, mostly on the eastern side of the city.

The
two groups, the Judicial Council and the Ghurabaa al-Sham, clashed on
Tuesday near Aleppo in fighting that left four members of the
Judicial Council dead, Abldul-Rahman said. He added that the Judicial
Council is now holding dozens of members of Ghurabaa al-Sham captive.

Aleppo-based
activist Mohammed Saeed said Ghurabaa al-Sham withdrew its fighters
from several neighborhoods, including the industrial area, and that
it had released all of the Judicial Council members it had been
holding captive.

"The
situation is very tense in Aleppo," said Abdul-Rahman, who
relies on a network of activists around the country. He said that
Ghurabaa al-Sham has warned it will bring some of its members from
outside the city to fight against the Judicial Council if its members
are not freed.

Saeed
said Ghurabaa al-Sham released all Judicial Council members it was
holding while the other group refused to set free Ghuarbaa al-Sham
members and is still holding them.

He
added that the Judicial Council is an umbrella organization that
includes the Tawheed Brigade, al-Sham Liberals and the
al-Qaida-affiliated Jabhat al-Nusra - one of the most effective
forces among the mosaic of rebel brigades.

"There
are fears that fighting (between rebels) might erupt in Aleppo,"
Saeed said by telephone.

In
other parts of Syria, the Observatory reported that rebels captured
several villages late Friday in the central province of Hama after
weeks of fighting with government troops."Civilians in those
areas are now cut off from contact with the outside world, and lives
are in extreme danger," the coalition said in a statement.

The
uprising against President Assad's rule that began in March 2011
quickly became an outlet for long-suppressed grievances, mostly by
poor Sunnis from marginalized areas. It has since escalated into an
outright civil war that killed more than 70,000 people according to
the United Nations.

The
conflict has grown increasingly sectarian, both in action and
rhetoric.
