<description>Reports of a Syrian army victory pave the way for further analysis and speculation about what comes next. Supporters of militant groups are reeling from an overwhelming sense of loss following a massive co-ordinated assault on militant positions. Supporters of the catastrophically divided insurgency claim that this is the end of the &quot;revolution&quot;. We believe the Syrian army, having secured the West of Syria, will advance into the North and East in large numbers in an effort to eradicate a large number of Al-Qaeda groups which are based in those regions. Recent events in Al-Qusayr mark a turning point.
Homs province is the gateway to other key cities and areas in Syria. Added to the securing of the border with Jordan, the eradication of the threat close to the Lebanese border is very significant.

UPDATE: Fighting continues in Al-Qusayr, though less than yesterday. Syrian army advancing slowly but surely and controls 70-80% of the town - meeting significant, embedded resistance though.
