Given the threat of punishment and the fact that millions of Americans have served, I generally assume that anyone claiming to be a veteran is most likely telling the truth.

You also need to do some research on the Pacific decadal oscillation (PDO). These cycles in the past have lasted for nearly 30 years. The PDO cool mode has replaced the warm mode in the Pacific Ocean, virtually assuring us of about 30 years of global cooling.

I'm familiar with the PDO as well as the North Pacific Index. As a Geography major plus a skier/hiker in the Pacific Northwest, I am well aware of the natural variability we receive here. Back in April, I wrote a literature review on the declining snowpack in the mountains of the western states.
Unfortunately, despite an expected cooler, wetter period in the PDO, we are expecting an sizable el nino this year. That does not bode well for skiers since that usually means drier, warmer weather.

So, MBrad.. What does that say about the climate change models that were used to make those hysterical claims?
The North Pole is only a small part of the Arctic. It can become somewhat ice-free by the movement of sea ice exposing pockets of open water. An ice-free North Pole does not necessarily mean an ice-free Arctic.
The scientific consensus is that the climate is warming beyond natural variability. There is no consensus on the consquences of climate change. Scientists are debating how high temperatures will get and how much sea levels will rise.
Btw, because of a La Nina, summer was also warmer than usual in some regions. We had record highs in the Pacific NW. Up near Siberia, the Russians were able to get a couple of freighters through the Northeast Passage with the help of an icebreaker. Of course, talking about summer is weather related, not climate.
