Hi, Orthodoxy, I was surprised that you didn't leave a comment section for your "on Catholics" post. All of us in the West know about, and are ashamed of, the treatment by the Catholic church of Eastern Christianity over the last thousand years. The Pope FINALLY apologized a couple years back..too little too late, I'm sure, but at least it's a start, right?

The councils of Nicea, Chalcedon, Constantinople, etc. etc. may have decided Orthodoxy for the Eastern Empire, but the West went a different route. The mistake (and arrogance) of the Western Church was to demand that the Greeks follow their beliefs.
1054 was the worst year for Christianity EVER...The world has still not recovered from the idiocy and pig-headedness displayed by people on both sides of that debate at the time.
Keep posting more of those interviews with Orthodox priests and patriarchs. Ecumenical thought and philosophy is always interesting, especially when it comes from those who we have so little day-to-day contact with.
