  • Loved the Saturn and moon vids. Back in the 60's, there was this old guy that was friends with my family who lived way up in the Sierra Nevada mountains (Calif). As kids we used to sit out in the open late at night and he would show us the stars and planets, even when satellites were due to pass over. He had a small telescope and we would ooh and ahh over the moon and planets. Your vids bring back those childhood wonders and memories. Very cool. Thanks.

  • Quoted comment by LL_Charon: Depends on what you want to put on bud?

Is it your own recordings or stuff you've grabbed from elsewhere?

I think it depends on the quality of the original file but i do find that most vids uploaded on FLV do tend to convert into quite hi quality.

Not neccessary to convert everything to WMV for LL mate.

    Cheers

They are all video's taken by myself. I only have "windows movie maker" right now for capture and edit. So output must be wmv then convert to flv. Pain in the ass, and still get low quality.

Oh well nothing I can do unless I get a better capture and edit program.

    Cheers!

I am lucky here to have very dark skies 15 min away. The milkyway is stunning this time of year.

  • Quoted comment by Shanay: How much did it cost to make your telescope? Man I want one.

This scope cost about $2,500 CAN. to make. It will be more now that pyrex is hard to come by.

  • Quoted comment by reckon: Hey, i wonder were you can get one of those telescopes.
Amazing pictures. And could you get much better pic of the moon with a better scope.

Thanks -This is a custom built scope. The 12.5" mirror is from John at www.galaxyoptics.com

If you had a better scope than this, then yes you could get a better photo (if the conditions are good)

This scope is not built for astrophotography and the view is 100 times better at the eyepiece than what you see in the video.
