Now I am going to sum up the story of my life and the way the karmic aura that envelopes this Earth treats me. My birthday was on the 22nd. I'm only telling you this fact because it's extremely pertinent to the story and not because I'm looking for a belated birthday wish. Although a card with a check enclosed would have been nice but we'll discuss that later. Anyway, I turned a number less than 51 and greater than 49 even though people think I look like I'm in my late twenties. I turned this number on Monday. The only things that I received in the mail on Tuesday were a membership card and application for AARP and a government brochure from Social Security informing me of what options seniors have as far as funeral options. AARP and government funerals. That was it. Two pieces of mail that found their way to my mailbox the very day after I broke an age barrier. Not a penny saver or junk mail. AARP and government funerals. Now that kinda sucked. Then on the 10:00 news a few hours later there was a blurb about a new report released that says that Maryjanewhanna use is growing rapidly in older Americans from the age of, and I am not shitting you, 50 and up. Well all I have to say is this about that. I will attempt to put a positive spin on this. With my AARP card I can get a discount on the pot that I am now suddenly going to be smoking increasingly because I am now 50 and when I am stoned one day and fall down a fight of stairs and die I can count on the Social Security benefited funeral package.
So to summarize, I am now either one real lucky livin' SOB or a beginning pot head who can get discounts on walkers and canes to keep me goin' till the government buries me in a financially responsible manner.
