A little about me: I am Iranian-born living in Canada. I am a PhD. candidate at the moment in Biomolecular Sciences. Only 1 more year to go.<br /><br /><br />

  • I do not support Basij, Ahmadinejad, Mousavi, the Mullas or even the Islamic Republic as a way of government. Nor do I support the tiny minority of hooligans that are out destroying peoples property and causing instability. The world is not black and white, it is not "either"-"or".

    What you and exile-Iranians in Europe do not understand is that these protests only serves to strengthen the governments hold on Iran, both pragmatically and politically. You seem to believe that the government is not in control, that the protests are spontaneous and uncontrollable, thus anchored in public support.

    If you had LIVED in iran (longer than just visiting) you would know that the government is very much in control. It is a police state. There cannot be a protest unless the government lets it happen. And the government LETS these protest happen, and then squash them to serve their own propaganda needs of "foreign inspired elements of instability, threatening the Islamic Republic". The protestors are doing exactly what the government wants them to do.

    Furthermore, if you look at Iranian television the same videos that you post here, or that others post on jewtube are used to identify "instigators" and "agents". These protests are a very easy way for the government to fish out the (until now) elusive dissent and put it away. When it comes to crushing resistance, the government are not idiots, they know what they are doing and they do it well. The fact that the IRGC has not been mobilized once during this whole episode should tell you how trivial the protests are, and that they are very much in control of events.

    As for showing myself, look. Any 10 year old idiot with a camera can upload a video of themselves, it takes no effort, nor does it hold any prestige. Go to jewtube and you will see scores upon scores of people doing it. My appearance holds no value to you, and showing it holds no value to me. It proves nothing and changes nothing, you can imagine me as the ugliest, most decrepit person alive if you want, it will not matter to me. So no, I won't be making a video any time soon, audio gets to job done fine. Go ahead and call me a coward if you believe bravery comes from doing what any fool with a webcam can do.

    As for you however, you have put yourself and your family out there. And we know that the government try to track down the exile-iranian "instigators" and revoke their passports, so you have taken a very large (and unnecessary) risk.

    what conclusion do you think i get from that? who is causing the violence? and if random people do it, does this justify basiji thugs to react or security? do you actually believe that the way the country is handling the problems is acceptable?

    I RATHER LIVE IN IRAN BUT WHEN I SEE THE INSTABILITY AND NO FUTURE, I SEE NO POINT OF GOING BACK UNTIL THESE IDIOTS ARE REMOVED FROM POWER.

    So far so good. I forgot how to ask how your family and friends abroad are doing under the current circumstances. As you and I have spoken before RS, hopefully the events of today are just the stepping stones to a very positive outcome in the future.

    P.S. I hope you're still not holding it against me because I referred to you as "gentle". I mean that was like ten, twenty years ago or so. Or maybe it was last month. Time goes by so quickly at my age.
