Mao's China in 1970's
I don't have to go to North Korea to know what real life looks like becasue China already experienced 40+ years ago. Everyone, I mean everyone, looked like a refugee, a slave, or a beggar. Anyone, especially the spoiled westerners, who admires Mao, should go to NK and stay there, living a peasant life, for 5 years.

Anyone can go to a poor location in some country today and get similar scenes. Probably much worse.
China has the advantage that their people have unlimited industriousness.
In a few scant decades China has become a world power. True there may be pockets still like this but the improvement in general Chinese life has been phenomenal.

HI was referring to comments against China, then I realize you are actually tyring to highlight how the current regime is better than the past. I guess if economics is the only indicator you are using, then yes you are right. But the reality is quite different.

So you think Mao would have been better than our current leadership? If so I don't think I have anything to say to you. Mao is the biggest evil in the Chinese history, which I don't want to argue with anyone, especially not with a non-Chinese who didn't live thru Mao's era.

No you misundertood me. I think Mao is bad to a degree but what he did prepared China for the future. Whether you want to admit it or not, CHina after WW2 was not prepared to compete with the West. People had to be educated and learn how to deal with the differences. IN hindsight, surely things have been differently but the premise behind this undertaking makes sense.
