  • Amazing stuff! The Finns demolished the Soviets leading one Soviet general to remark when told of the huge territory taken that it was "just enough territory to bury our dead."

The finnish looked at the aftermath in that the still managed to be an independent country and to them that in it self was a victory.

    • @shefti kickass trend continued very well in continuation war, in 1944 soviets launched a massive invasion bigger than Normandy d-day operations to take down finland, and they were annihilated.

  • This is why we love our finnish neighbors. they know how to take out the trash.

Haven't watched the vids yet, so not sure if this is mentioned but here's a wonderful piece of trivia for you to impress your friends with:
Finland and England are the only two democracies in all of history that have declared war on each other.

yepp... technicly speaking finland was at war with the soviet union and by extention their allies, the British.
Allthough it was just a formality, no british soldiers were ever sent in support of the russian forces.

  • Russian won this war... Finland gave to Russian the earth which by Finland grasped at Russian several centuries ago... Stalin not Russian.... Russian wouldn't attack Finland... But it was so necessary for Stalin... Stalin hated Finland and Poland at that time

  • Actually in three months, Russian lost more than 60000 people. instead of 126000 people...
This statistics is provided by Finland....
Actually: 126,875 dead of Russian Finland counted the killed since 1939, till 1945. "Winter War" lasted three months... further there was World War II... And Hitler attacked Stalin... Because of it from 1941 to 1945 Germany and Italy helped Finland

    • @Era
my father was a paratrooper during the japanese american conflict ww2. he was a mess.
all wars have unreconized and silent sufferers.
he was an abusive alcoholic but i cannot accuse him of being 'bad', he was scarred and sworn to secrecy about events he had experienced.
it's always tragic on the individual and on the massive scale. war is hell.

  • the bigger more powerful nations have still not taken heed of the wills of a smaller nations to remain themselves. it may be flawed, as is afganistan, but it still wants it's autonomy.
    history continues to repeat itself.
