National Conference workers today attacked the office of Highland Motors and Airtel owned by the senior leader of Peoples Democratic Party, Iftikhar Hussain Ansari, a day after PDP leveled against the chief minister, Omar Abdullah of being involved in 2006 sex scam.
Hundreds of workers held a rally to protest the allegations and attacked the workers of Highland Motors and Airtel Bharti pelting stones on them. Five persons were injured in the incident.
During protest two workers were apprehended by persons who were wearing Airtel uniform. The traffic on the road remained suspended during the demonstration as clashes erupted between NC workers and Airtel employees.
Police fired several teargas shells and lathicharged the protestors injuring scores of them.
Advocate Mustafa Bhat, and ex- Mayor said “It was a peaceful protest, but some elements created mess.”
He said that “stones were pelted from the building which hit NC workers.”
