HILLBURN, N.Y.
The accident occurred shortly before 2 p.m. and sources say at least one person is injured. The truck had apparently crashed off a ramp on northbound Route 17 before then tumbling onto the southbound portion of the Thruway.
The McDonald's tractor-trailer bursted into flames and forced officials to close several portions of both the highway and the thruway.

The driver of the trailer has died.
Firefighters were called to the scene and battled a major blaze burning through the truck, which laid on its side off the highway.

There is no word as to how the accident occurred or the extent of the injuries suffered in the accident.

The Thruway Authority has announced that all lanes going southbound have been closed, and the Thruway ramp northbound from New Jersey I-287 is also closed. Motorists traveling southbound are advised to plan for severe delays and should seek alternate routes.

State Police and emergency crews are on the scene and will reopen the right lane southbound and the Thruway ramp from New Jersey I-287 as soon as conditions permit.
