To be honest, it really doesn't look like a photo. But yes, really good pen art. I like this.

Drawing but not likely to be been completely freehand. Projecting a photo onto paper and using it to trace over is a pretty common cheat.

@passive_observer
In that case a large number of historical paintings are 'cheats'.
Check out the use of camera obscura for painting landscapes.

Here's the original photo.

It's clearly different in detail to the drawing, so people calling fake photoshop are out of luck.
E.G. the blondish hair tuft sticking out on the far right is a different shape and location

I remember looking through a book about "Neo-Realism." Some of the works were truly astonishing. One of a very chromed hot rod engine and another of a woman wearing glasses were hard to believe they weren't photos. These artists had projected images onto a canvas and much of the work was done with air brushes. Kind of like paint by numbers, but very skillful.

@Deeki
Do a search for Raymond Ching and look at the images.
I am sincerely kicking myself now as I knew him as a struggling artist and didn't buy his early works.
e.g. http://cracker666.files.wordpress.com/2010/12/30718_108893545821106_100001013835252_61087_5245046_n.jpg
You can buy prints from the place that originally discovered him at http://www.fineartonline.co.nz/

Link not photograph.
This guy is a genius.
The only reason I didn't buy the art at fire-sale prices was I was only 15 and my major income was a paper-round.
Even buying the prints now is probably a good investment.
