Helicopter Collision Kills 7 Marines in Arizona
Seven U.S. Marines have been killed in the midair collision of two U.S. military helicopters in southern Arizona,The crash occurred during routine training operations late Wednesday at the Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Maj. Carl B. Redding, Jr. of the Marine Corps said in a statement.
The collision involved an AH-1W "Super Cobra" attack helicopter and a UH-1Y "Huey" utility chopper, which the military has long used for a variety of tasks. They were part of the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing.
Authorities were investigating the collision, which occurred in a remote area of a training range complex.

Poor job editing this video. A UH-1Y Huey is shown at 00:40 and an AH-1W Super Cobra is shown at 00:45 in the video. Disregard the rest of it. USA Today has the story as does every other major news outlet.
I served as a UH-1N Huey crew chief in the 80's and have seen first hand how this can happen. These helos work in very close proximity to one another and I myself have been in some very tight situations, overlapping rotor blades, etc. USMC hel More..
