Countdown has started
New target launch: 845AM MDT/245PM GMT Sunday October 14th
A LIVE webcast of the Red Bull Stratos will be live streamed at http://youtube.com/redbull and http://redbullstratos.com
Red
Bull Stratos is a mission to the edge of space that will try to surpass
human limits that have existed for more than 50 years. Supported by a
team of experts, Felix Baumgartner will undertake a stratospheric
balloon flight to more than 120,000 feet / 36,576 meters and make a
record-breaking freefall jump in the attempt to become the first man to
break the speed of sound in freefall (an estimated 690 miles / 1,110
kilometers per hour), while delivering valuable data for medical and
scientific advancement.

I know it. It's okay though. Have to visit your country for a bit & do some shopping, should take an hour or so & maybe there'll be lift off by then. Tonight follow a rally & simultaneously watch the jump??? Could entertain me till bed time :@). Wonder if aircraft will be following the ascent for a while?
I'm guessing a 4 to 7 hour climb time. Hope he had all his potty breaks LOL
May have been wrong on ascent time. Climbing fairly quick right now.

@stirgy Oh no, no, no! Very serious.
Im a skydiver to this day. I have uncounted jumps. Was an instructor, and a Senior Jump Master in the Army. HALO and HAHO qualified.
I love it. This is very exciting. I cannot imagine, the speed, and cold, alone that he will face.
Joe Kittinger is a great man, and I love it that he is helping out on this. Of course, it will take hours for the ascent. So I'm turning my lap top on dedicated to that, and browsing on the desktop. ha ha ha, We are sick arent we More..

Baumgartner chose Kitinger to be the only person to speak with him over the radio. I thought that was in good taste. He didn't want to just smash Kitenger's record, he wanted him to play a critical role in the new one...

He is part of the legacy. Kitinger never got this kind of coverage. Never.

I have been watching this stupid broadcast all morning. Congratulations RedBull you managed to make a spectacle that was even more boring than watching Endeavor get towed through the ghettos of Los Angeles!
