Demarkus Mccants, 21, and Edward Reed Jr., 18, have been charged with aggravated assault in the shooting that took place in the entranceway to the Dillard's store on Thursday afternoon.

Mccants and Reed are in custody at the Fort Bend County Jail.

Bond has been set for Mccants at $75,000 for the aggravated assault charge and $20,000 for a previous burglary charge in another jurisdiction. Reed’s bond is set at $25,000 for the aggravated assault charge.

Investigators say both Reed and Mccants were involved in an alleged confrontation at the mall that involved six men. Reed is accused of shooting a man who was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital. After Reed dropped the weapon, investigators say Mccants picked up the gun and attempted to fire a shot with it, but the weapon misfired.
