Maricopa County Sheriff’s Offices deputies took nearly 50 suspected undocumented immigrants into custody Monday in different parts of the Valley.
Deputies made two traffic stops earlier in the day near Interstate 17 and Anthem Way and discovered 31 suspected undocumented immigrants, according to MCSO Deputy Chief Dave Trombi.
One of the suspects took deputies to a drop house near 29th Avenue and Indian School Road where they reportedly found another 17 suspected undocumented immigrants, ranging in age from the mid-teens to early 30s.
SWAT got everyone out safely after reports that people inside the house were being held at gunpoint.
Trombi said one suspected undocumented immigrant showed bruising and swelling.
It’s unclear if any suspected coyotes were arrested.
