Footage released of an anti-narcotics operation (April 28) that went really bad and how Colombian
Army soldiers set up a defense perimeter to save the french journalist (Romeo Langlois)
life paying the ultimate price.
As the soldiers carry out their operation they start coming under sporadic small arms fire by the FARC which causes the decision to be made to extract the cameraman (which is foiled by the FARC bandits shooting at the helicopters). Eventually the FARC guerrillas start closing in (You can hear the constant fire of the Colombian armys' helicopter's miniguns firing on FARC positions which has very little effect on deterring them ) The cameraman is shot in the arm (26 minute mark) and the FARC end up killing the soldier who's next to him (Sergeant Cortez who served as the camerman's escort). As the FARC get even closer another soldier is hit by a grenade blast. Things become so bad that one of the soldiers asks the cameraman to grab Sergeant Cortez's rifle and help cover him (which the cameraman promptly denies in an effort to remain neutral ) . In the end the combat footage the cameraman turns of the camera and runs and hides in a nearby bush (only to surrender a shortly after to the FARC). He was released on the 30th of May.
If you are impatient you can skip to the 24 minute mark to see where things get really bad
