I have some old blues and was surprised to recognize the original “When the Levee Breaks” from 1929 by Kansas Joe McCoy and Memphis Minnie. With a little research, I found out it was about the great Mississippi flood of 1927.
It doesn’t exactly sound like this, so I guess the song doesn't always remain the same.
