Is Islam is a Religion of Peace Intelligence Squared Debate.

I know it sounds like a very unfair and over done topic but its interesting to see how two educated Muslims try to make their point that a life of peace and tolerance is the true message of the Qua-ran. It makes you feel bad for the two defenders of Islam because they are good people, but you can tell that in the eyes of Islamic leaders they are infidels and any Muslim that doesent Disney up the words, that are "the literal word of god", know they are to be followed exactly.

When confronted with fact they sound like they are trying to convince themselves more than the audience. What you have to realize is that in a Islamist state they would be considered atheists.

i have no intention of spreading hatred or fear of these people. I only would like to make the point that there is a automatic defense that come to the aid of Islam by even non Muslims. I am not a person of faith but i can imagine what type of mentality any fundamentalist would have when their lives are dictated by old testament scripture. This is what I think most people who defend Islam cant rap their head around. Any religious person can read scripture and find justification to do harm, but you have to have to distort The New Testament and ignore many passages to find it. But every one knows some one who deserves death if all we had was 14 century scripture. at most 7% of the1.6 billion muslims would not question the scripture. That amount (112,000,000) or even half that documented number. that should give more than enough reason to have a rational discussion.
