One thing I found rather strange the first time I saw this video was that it was a female soldier running the program and dealing with the locals directly. I have nothing against women in the military, I think there should be a lot more of them to be honest, but having a women dealing with people who traditionally do not have much respect for women is a problem right from the get go, FYI.

that women is dangerous, her motivates are ok, but how far would she go, how many lives will she risk for generator or to make friends with this village why in such a hurry.
This type of aide to Afghanistan people needs to be limited till the Taliban are not a threat.

There are a few women in combat roles in the Canadian Forces, there is even one who commands her own patrol in Afghanistan(or she did back in '06 anyways, not sure if she still does). I just saw an article about her the other day, I'll find it and post the link.
Fake edit: Found it already, lol.

I only have the upmost respect for the young soldiers serving over there, male or female. This story sounds like a replay of Vietnam didn%u2019t we try getting the villagers on our side there and then pull out to leave them to deal with the VC food for thought.
