Defending Secular Guidelines and Standing Up To Islam
 Part of channel(s): Yoursay (promoted)

This video is the third film in a series about defending secularism. I produced this myself. This one is about the right for websites to choose secular rules in their submission guidelines which allows films like "Innocence of Muslims" and cartoons of the prophet Muhammad. I figured of the series this one is fit for Liveleak because it has the most controversial subject within it's content and it's relevant to current events. Whether is provocative films or cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad, it all boils down to the same thing, our right to criticize religion.

Our right to criticize or even childishly parody religion is far more important to us than catering to the sensibilities of a religion, any religion, especially one we do not even pray to ourselves.

Admittedly I did originally produce this for YouTube as you will see it mentioned in the video. Also the cartoons in the background are from the DeviantArt group Draw A Cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad Day which you can see here;

http://drawmoday.deviantart.com/

And if you wish to see my own artwork parodying religion (including Islam) you can see it for yourself here;

    • @AP Legit I think its time we all stand up united against the complainers and the haters who have created fear and damage to a way of life we earned at birth! There is only one religion of hate that has plagued the twenty first century. I don't have to even speak who they are! The world is watching them spilling blood even against their own followers.

  • I notice on that draw Mo day at Deviant, all the insulting cartoons are blocked....so it sort of defeats the purpose.

    Good presentation anyhow.
    Even though you are a girl with a mans voice.

    • @Freejay That's a male avatar, actually. (I guess I'll be explaining that a lot, my fault)

      The only toons I know of that were blocked on Deviantart were ones that had hardcore imagery, which is banned regardless. I've posted at least four or five toons of Muhammad and none of them got banned.

    Well said, I completely agree. The least tolerant of religions demands the most. We are an open society with freedoms and that trumps any religion any day of the week.

      Your thinking of power, religion is a volatile "thing" like alcohol some people can handle it and some can't, but everyone has access to it (lol except if your religion denies it) but whose to say its "bad" or "good"

      religion doesn't kill people the same way Guns don't kill people. only humans murder other humans with the guns or with religion. Anyway i don't care it doesn't matter to me i listen to what a man said long ago, "do unto others as you have them do unto you" i don't need a pope or book or society to tell me anything else.

    • @CargeLock

      I said A man said it. I didn't say anything about Jesus, you implied that. and i don't care who said it, it makes absolute sense. something somebody might go around telling everyone and everybody might start living by it and congregating in a certain place to talk about it and oopps looks like we made a religion.

    • @SharkGuy I do believe Islam is actually not a religion. But I think of it more in the context of a political party. Being Muslim doesn't automatically mean being a member of Islam. An example of that I guess would be secular Muslims.

      to me,people shouldn't call themselves a Muslim,unless they follow the Koran,when one calls himself a moderate Muslim.means they did not finish reading the Koran,they are only following what Muhammad preached before he went North the Medina,only when he was in Mecca was he peaceful, before he started to thirst for power,but Muhammad abrogated all of his peaceful preachings after going to Medina,.and those preachings were nothing but evil and warlord given,.

  • Thanks for the video cat-women. you make good points, islam will not pass any sweeping laws that dictate that their religion cant be humiliated partly because of the reasons you showed. I myself and a christian or catholic/? never really understood the difference despite 12 years of catholic school, well never cared about the difference i should say. i visit alot of sites and one of those is "fukung" a random image/jpg/gif site and i see many horrible depictions on jesus, Who is a hero More..

      The tolerance you have, the kind we sort of arbitrarily expect from civilized people, just doesn't exist in some parts of the world YET every part of the world is online and subject to criticsm and trolling. Islam is just going to have to grow a thicker skin.

Also she practically quoted a point I made at the time verbatim; "We have no obligation to cater to the sensibilities of other people." I said those words exactly when I was making my own cartoons of the prophet Muhammad.

    2: the movie was nothing more than an excuse to demonstrate on 9/11 in relation to the remembrance of 9/11 eleven years ago.
    3: uneducated ignorant brainwashed freaks you have within all religions and witin all political sides. It all has to do with education and (self)development. #2 the ignoramus who made the movie probably made it cause he got a boner against islam 30 days b4 9-11
      #3 your right, religion is something a educated person should have access to, BUT we like to give religion to children so a predicament occurs, teaching a child something has a profound impact on them. so teh only thing we can hope for is a string willed human, regardless of age that QUESTIONS what they have been told.

  • What freedoms that appear on surface to be secular are in reality not rooted in secular thinking; for that you'll need to look to the liberated utopia of North Korea or, in the previous century, the USSR and its allies.

    Tolerance of multiple faiths, including atheistic, self-worshipping, and anti-God faith, is rooted in the Christian faith, or more specifically, a biblical faith.

    But of course that's even more unpalatable in some PC circles than even radical Islam these days. And the revisioni More..

  • Of course, it's a different story when the topic of discussion is Holocaust revisionism, suddenly then these "free speech" people are all for censorship so as not to offend Jews.

    Offending Christians = free speech
    Offending Muslims = free speech
    Offending Jews = hate crime
