Houston , Texas 0ct 4
A carjacking suspect led law enforcement officers on a high-speed chase through east Harris County and into Houston on Thursday.
Harris County sheriff's officials said a deputy spotted a sport utility vehicle that had been taken during an aggravated robbery in the 100 block of Carey Lane at about 7 a.m.
Investigators said the deputy tried to stop the driver, but he refused.
The driver went off of paved roads several times during the pursuit.
Police said the driver collided with one of their patrol cars at one point.
The chase ended when the driver lost control and crashed in the 700 block of Peavy Street, officials said.
Police said the driver jumped out of the vehicle, ran and was tackled by a civilian.
The driver was taken into custody and could face several charges, officials said.
The vehicle's owner said a man armed with a knife approached him and demanded the SUV.
