Incident at Amsterdam Airport
Upon arriving into Amsterdam airspace, there was no communication with the pilots flying the Vueling aircraft..therefore, procedure was set into place as a possible hijacking..the beginning few seconds of the video shows F-16's escorting the plane to the airport and military police dispatched
After investigating, it was determined it was pilot error as contact was made with the crew upon landing

Normally I'd say typical Commloss... Pilots chatting, turning down volume of all main & guard radios.
They spot QRA A/C and want to ask ATC what's going on - oops volume zero - then all back to norm within 1 minute of public embarassment on ATC freq :p
What's unusual IMHO that they (apparently) land Commloss and get the "full gound treatment".
Could be their radios actually went ape, but then they should just go 7600 and follow NORDO procedures (may or may not cause FAICO to laun More..

er,millions of what? Dollars,Euros,Pounds,potatoes? The planes would have been on standby or more likely in the air anyway so would have simply been diverted.
Anyway,had the plane really been hijacked and it was clearly going to be used as a weapon then they would have just shot it down.

@driz I don't know how it's handled in the netherlands, but here in germany they are not allowed to shoot a plane down, even when there are possible terrorists on board. They are only allowed to take warning shots at the most.
