Twenty-five years ago the Iran-Contra Scandal made headline across the globe. The US was selling weapons to Iran and funneling money to rebels in Nicaragua. Back in the 1980s the incident left a dark cloud over the reputation of the country and then-president Ronald Reagan. But do Americans remember what happened almost three decades ago? @LostSomewhereInSpace What was left unsaid also was the huge amount of money that wen into the pocket of Richard Secord & his associates because he created a company for the express purpose of the arms traffic and got a cut of the action before funding the contras. His testimony is on YT it's sickening the practical criminality of that guy.

@StormRising Russians are notorious for turning their backs to their "friends" - Iraq, Serbians, Cubans and eventually Iran. After reassuring them that "they will get help from Russia if attacked by the West" they wait until conditions are right and then abruptly leave them to deal with their enemies on their own.
They give them false sense of security by "backing them up" then when it's too late to call the Peace they leave, which leaves a huge question - who Russ More..

@absu69 Yes at Ft. Benning, a lot of the Cadre for the School of the Americas were siphoned off from 75th Ranger Regiment, or Battalions. Had some good soldiers we did. My perspective then and now are pretty much the same, we did what we could as we were instructed to do, due to the happenings going on at the time in that area

We were selling inferior arms to Iran to finance the anti-communist Contras in Nicaraugua to stop communism from spreading in Central America because the Democratic controlled Congress didn't want to fund freedom fighters in our neck of the woods because they were and some still are unpatriotic little socialist punks.
